  • Nobody compares to Elton and Bernie!

  • one of my favorite songs of all time! check out my cover! /watch?v=pbCUUhd2LJg

  • Such an original song.

  • This is a great song, and it is just an example of how the great bands and singers of the 1970s could put 10 great songs on an album year after year. Now if you get one or two OK songs it is a major accomplishment from the current crop of music idols. A lot of awful crap.

  • never really like this song

  • @ladybluluv ......ok then...

  • i am also covering this song, it makes amazing fun to sing an play the song, just a great tune, EJ best voice of seventees beside freddy mercury of course...

  • Cool!

  • hahahahaaa I love this song. played it 4 times in a row

  • @EltonJohnRocketMan ...who cares then...

  • @ladybluluv I do. Got a problem with it

  • I do love the Album Cover. Kinda Like Sgt Pepper

  • Thumb up if youre watching it in 1823

  • EJ is a musical genius and great performer. it's a shame this level of talent no longer exists in today's music

  • @ohlb1 how can this level of talent exist when he and JOhn lennOn used it all up!

  • great song

  • That snare is crazy. I think he was trying to be funny. Great song.

  • @johnnyborealis

    that's timpani

  • Una delle canzoni di Sir Elton che si elevano a standard. Mi piace segnalare il lavoro al drumming preciso e possente oltre al coro straordinario. Sembra una filastrocca senza grosse pretese e invece è memorabile.Bellissima.

  • his body of work in the 70's stands up to anybody's......incredible albums

  • I have effectively erradicated the dilike moron. Let it be known, all who dilike elton from know own will meet the same fate. BTW I think once we finally colonize another plantet, elton john's music should be the first ever played on that planet. Only elton john and beatles fans allowed.

  • my all time favorite album....magnificent!!!!!

  • can listen to this over and over

  • Probably Elton John's best song but also his most underrated

  • Who the hell left that 1 dislike!!! :O

  • @RusstyytssuR there better off dead :)

  • @RusstyytssuR Sure an idiot did it.

  • That snare would be better off dead... or turned down.

  • <3 bass

  • whose the moron 1 no vote?

    Ass..........

  • Best album ever made

  • people are talking about the drums.. they are exceptional; not only the compressive effect they made on them, but in various times they are extremely tricky and well composed and I bet difficult to play.. the dialog between bass drum and hihat around the instrumental bit is amazing

  • best set of extra stuff to ever come out of an album sleve. except who:live at leeds.

  • @anthroscott I borrowed an original LP of this from a friend's uncle when I was in high school, then went out and bought a new one of my own and got a big lesson in the concept of "original packaging" because all you got with it inside in the late 80's was a clear plastic sleeve.

  • the drums are awesome

  • Took out the poster from the vinyl and its up in my room. I'm 19. Heard it first when I was twelve. Opened me up to music.

  • @tayloreh

  • @arreanafern sorry for the previous mess up.........but what i wanted to say was; I put that insert from that vinyl on my wall in 1976!! lol

  • i was 10 and saved for 6 months when this came out !

    i still have this album

  • Intensa..

  • In a word, Fantastic!

  • IS THIS GUY THE BEST OR WHAT , ARE YOU KIDDING ME . THE BEST.

  • IS THIS GUY THE BEST OR WHAT ?

  • I've been listening to Elton Jonh since I was three, since he's my mom's favorite. I'm an eighteen year old girl who usually listens to pop/rock and top 40, and I LOVE this! hahah, my mom and I sing this at the top of our lungs on road trips.

  • @wegotorangeomg It's always good to hear of people of your age with good taste. My dog already sings along to the new Elton album The Union

  • @mizofan

    That's awesome :)

  • @wegotorangeomg I thought I was the only 18 year old who listens to Elton! I just went to see him perform in Hollywood his new album along with a set of his own. Good to know I'm not the only teen who listens to him

  • I remember wondering how they got those incredible drum sounds when I first heard this album (I still have my original vinyl from 1975.) It turned out that it was gated reverb, about 10 years before it really became popular with songs like Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight." Nigel Olsson and Gus Dudgeon weren't the first to use it, but they were by far the best at that time -- maybe ever. And they were doing it with a complex analog process, before digital processors made it easy.

  • Brilliant Album bought the LP back then have the CD now.

  • This song Best!

  • exelente!!!!

  • “Through the grease streaked windows of an all night café, we watched the arrested get taken away”

That line has haunted me for years

  • No listen very carefully

  • Poor awesomeness, always loved the song best on this album ... the drums!

  • great song, nigel olsson kicks arse 1min 10secs in, happy memories

  • The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music

  • This sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury's style

  • @TheraChris long before freddie became famous

  • @anagramish Not really long before, this album was released about 4 months before Queens Bohemian Rhapsody. Both in 1975.

  • @TheraChris I can see how you could think that

  • 4 ever music ......

  • Woo, music tech 2010

  • @queenrocks21 Damn Straight

  • @queenrocks21 Aha, was a bit better than Kylie i guess haha! I preferred the Worm and Waterloo Sunset though ;)

  • @queenrocks21 lol was just gonna write the same thing xD

  • this was on our music tech exam at college before

  • What can be said about the 70's, but it was a time to be ALIVE, with music like Elton John, Paul McCartney & Wings, Queen, REO, the list goes on & on & on.........

  • OMG I still remember the words..........Yes it is 1975 again.....TY

  • thanks sydlivy

  • favorite song on this album best musician ever this song is cool while he is in russia with ray cooper elton john looks geeked out lol

  • it's 1975 again. for a moment.

  • @WintersWar woundn't it be cool to go back just for a day? =)

  • This was my personal favorite on this album.

  • I wish they made a movie "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy". It would be a super hero movie (kind of) CAPTAIN FANTASTIC with partner duo the BROWN DIRT COWBOY try to save the world from CAPTAIN FANTASTIC'S ex-girlfriend.

    Starring Sir Elton John.

  • oh the memories, the awesome memories!

  • Wow-never heard this before-awesome and the drumming is killer.

  • THIS IS THE BEST!! 1975 portland oregon , my first record i bought> we need music like this now! !!!!

  • Great voice, superb piano, a hell of a composer. Bombastic combination.

  • @cafinario He did not compose this...unlike billy joel who composed all of his songs...elton john had someone to write this for him

  • someone wrote the *lyrics*. Elton composes all the music. Bernie Taupin is his lyricist.

  • MAN!!! That takes me WAAAYYYYY back.

I owned this on a 33 LP and Cassette.

It came out when I was in high school. My high school flame Jo Ann Jones is a distant memory but I still play this album.

Good things last, If you see Jo tell her thanks for sending me on my way!

I could not agree more-the drums kick in and wow!

    UK/USABOY.

  • Awesome compression on these drums

  • I saw Elton perfrom this at WEmbley in 1975 (the music can be found on YouTube. He didn't get great press as he performed most of CF - a new album.

  • jonathon, top call.....this song reminds me of coming home from school, and building model aircraft....if I smell paint and glue, it takes me back to this song:)

And my favourite aircaft to build? go to be the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka

  • Never Heard Of That Song!

  • WOW great present ! Lucky parents !

  • I first heard this in my parent's vinyl collection also. Great album. I too looked at the cover trying to figure all the critters out! I recently found the album poster for them as an anniversary gift.
