  • Leslie Uggums was a hottie!!!

  • I remember watching this program with John Banner and Leslie, but don't recall the part with Bob playing drums.

Leslie was a frequent performer on The Ed Sullivan Show.

  • Best studio orchestra version of Norwegian Wood I've heard. The doll bit was clever and charming.

  • Loved Hogan's Heroes, and this just makes me respect him even more. RIP

  • everyone asking who killed bob crane... just look it up. They pretty much definitately caught the guy but they didn't have enough evidence

  • ...very nice! thank you for posting it! <3

  • I didnt know Bob Crane played the drums!!!

  • @elvis3700 Yes, I think he also played drums in the HHeroes episode where Hogan's group had to create an avalanche.

  • @noclouds111 Yes I just watched that episode on here not that long ago. Why cant they make shows like this any more, instead of all this crap? They say it is because back then, there was only 3 channels, so that that had to make shows, that appealed to everyone. Nowadays, they dont have to do that, since we have so many channels, I think the quality of the shows have gone down.

  • @elvis3700 I wonder if the reason there is so much crap on TV is because there is too much airtime/too many channels to fill. Like you said, back then (I remember 'back then'!) there were only three channels available in my area, and probable in most other areas.

  • @noclouds111 That is the reason I heard. BAack then because there were only 3 channels, they had to create shows with family appeal. Also remember, most families only had one tv. The families generally would watch tv together. Now, they try to gear channels noy shows, towards aparticular age group. It is insane.

  • @elvis3700 Yes, how dare we adults have our own shows to enjoy. Such a travesty! I am from the baby boomer generation and I am glad there are more shows to choose from. If you want to watch mind numbing fluff like Hee Haw or Lost In Space, there are cable channels that can accommodate you.

Is there crap? Sure is and I think MTV and 99% of reality shows should be destroyed. To complain that there is more to choose from is absurd though. Cancel your cable and buy DVDs of old shows then.

  • @vincemealfull Yeah, you probably like Family Guy, where two of the lead characthers are a sex addict and one is a pediphile.

  • @elvis3700 No I don't like Family Guy & I have no idea what characters you are talking about, but it's ironic that you mention pedophiles. You know Elvis Presley was with Priscilla when she was 14 and he was 24. In case you haven't noticed, you are also posting on a video featuring known sex addict Bob Crane and asking why there are not more shows like this.

  • who killed bob crane

  • @supermanfan62 His friend Carpy.

  • @dcat918 They never charged him for it. All they really know is that it was someone who Bob knew that drank scotch. Carpenter never admitted, even till death.

  • is that a native american chant in the middle of the Beatles song? wow, shades of an old Steve Martin routine where he jazzes up some "Indian" chants ...

  • what is with the jungle dancers when it's Norwegian Wood? or maybe having all those hot scantily clad girls GAVE him a Norwegian "wood"

  • Bob showcased his drumming talent on an episode of Hogan's Heroes. He and the prisoners played some loud swing music in order to cause an avalanche.

  • Never knew Bob could play the drums. Thats awesome.

  • @smartass2st

Bob played the drums on the 'Hogan's Heroes' theme.

  • He banged other things too.

  • I thought Schultz was going to come prancing out onto stage during the song and dance number. That would have killed.

  • @jongreek Your comment just made me die inside. In a good way =D

  • may whoever killed bob crane burn in hell!!! it was probably that scumbag john carpenter. thats who i believe it was. bob was one of the most talented people that ever lived. i would love to have some of his drum music on cd.

  • Feldwebel Schulz !!!!!!! ich vermisse dich !!!!!! RUHE IN FRIEDEN

  • Thanks for putting this up.

Makes you appreciate what a great actor John Banner was.

  • I love this video. Bob Crane is so awesome on those drums and John Banner was hilarious in that little sketch.

  • Whoa... trippy... I was just playing Norwegian Wood on the guitar and I decided to look up "John Banner" and this was the vid that popped up...

  • why does they play norwegian wood?!?!?!? XD

  • Bob Crane was a fan of the jazz drummer Buddy Rich, who recorded "Norwegian Wood" on a live 1967 album called "Big Swing Face." I'm wondering if that was it.

  • Bob Crane played drums in his earlier career. That much I know.

  • I "wood" have bought Leslie Uggams naked for $4.95

  • @jpr1961 4.98 but it would have been worth breaking a 5

  • Thank You For Posting; One must wonder what type of knot 'Mistress' Uggams, 'La Dominatrix', ties in an electrical-cord?

    Cheers!

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • He loved those drums, didn't he?

  • man this is the second time ive seen Bob play the drums but first on Hogans heros now here.his a good drummer.RIP BOB ur the best

  • bob loved that hot chocalate.

  • It is cool that the tune is Norweigian wood "this bird has flown" by the Beatles.

  • How cool is this! I never knew Bob Crane played drums...no singing tho. GREAT

    dancers too!

  • IIRC, Crane played the opening drums to the Hogan's Heroes theme, too. Might be wrong about that, though.

  • No, you're right. Crane did play the drums on the opening.

  • Somebody's hatin' on art & culture...damn. Who ever says that this is racist is a racist. Much better than watching something negative like black people getting beatdowns from police. Culture & diversity rules! To a DJ from a DJ...Luv you, Bob...(R.I.P) Still watchin' my Hogan's Heroes. I know you are makin' beats in heaven.

  • I don't find it racist at all. I thought it just displayed the culture of Africa. Besides, I don't think Leslie herself would have gone along with anything that would have been truly racist on her show.

As for Bob on the drums, he was terrific! You could tell he was having the time of his life.

  • Comment removed

  • He was very handsome and talented.

    RIP Bob. We love you!!

  • Racist?! Oh come on!

Race relations then were at least as volatile as today if not more so. At the time this would be called 'artistic' and no one would have dared say anything about it. Blacks were expressing their pride in their homeland and though it may appear outre to us today, it was very edgy then.

This is about as 'racist' as the Dutch putting on their wooden shoes and dancing around the windmill in Holland.

John Banner: "People will talk ... I'm wooden, and you're plastic."

    ...

  • the way those dancers are dressed and dancing would be labeled Racist today.

  • Bob can really whack his foreskins

  • This originally aired on October 12, 1969, when Bob and the most of the cast of "HOGAN'S HEROES" (except Richard Dawson and Ivan Dixon) appeared as Leslie's guests. In the long run, more viewers were watching "BONANZA" on NBC than her series on Sunday nights, and that's why it ended that December.

  • Haha, I'd buy Shultz in a heartbeat!

  • That was a pretty good version of Norwigian Wood. Crane was a heck of a drummer

  • Wow... the first part of this clip is perhaps the most accidently un-pc video I have ever seen. It would never make it past network censors today.

  • TectonaRivv, Just for your imfomation My father Who was very well respected behind the scenes of the entertament world and was a DJ for aver 50 years had two very very close friends in his life one being Bob Crane who was one of my dads best friends and the other was Buddy Rich .My dad would kid Bob about Buddy many times as Bob and my dad sat in our living room or at Bobs house and Bob would always say 'Hell I can't even touch Buddy a no one can!" But Bob was one hell of a drummer .

  • Liarsclub75, please help. My aunt Alison Mills was a cast member of this show, she played Oletha, Leslie's sister in Sugar Hill. We taped the show years ago but we had a housefire and we lost our tape of the show and been trying to locate someone who may have recorded the show. I would pay whatever fee acceptable to you for copies of the show or if you could help me get in touch with someone who has this show. You would be doing the family a huge favor, this was the only show my aunt was in.

  • These tapes were lent to me to have digitized and uploaded to youtube. I do not have other copies. You can try one of those download youtube video sites if you want to rip the video from here.

  • I lost all my digital mpg files due to a bad reformatting. I never got around to burning them to disk. :(

  • If the clip you are referring to is on You Tube, I hear there is software available to record it from You Tube.

  • @rhythmbluessoul I hope you found copies of the show~ This skit was well scripted..The humor was pushing the envelope for the day~ Funny stuff~! LMAO~

  • john banner was hilarious without even trying

  • Bob Crane had great talent and if there was one event in history other than 9/11 to reverse I would choose the events of June 28, 1978 when he died

  • Excellent comment!

  • How'd they fit the dancers in the bass drum?

  • lol

  • GO HOGAN GO!

beat THAT, buddy rich, you hack.

  • talk about ruining a great beatles song, yikes

  • This is in my all time top 10 WTF!!!!

  • too bad about what happened to Crane,,never knew he was such a good drummer until he actually played the drums in an episode of hogans heroes,,,r.i.p.

  • I see nothing!

  • Was that Norweigan Wood?

  • Yes

  • Love hogans heroes

  • WOW

I have to get a blue screen drum head for my kick drum right away.
