These guys are amazing musicians always have been i've considered steve howe one of the best guitarists i've seen. what he can do with a guitar is unbelievable if you've ever seen him play or just listen to him. They definitely go down as one of the best bands ever and there are a lot out there. They are certainly professionals. You can tell when someone has great talent like an artist who knows how to handle his medium thats YES !

Yes, not necessarily the best band all the time, but the very best musicians in their respective areas........they could all dance circles around their "competition", however they've had several changes over the years, pop-rocked out a bit in the 1980's,but I'd put any of the up against anyone any time. And the lyrics, well, Jon made the chords and key strokes make sense. I look forward to seeing them this summer (in some form or fashion).

The Greatest track from the Greatest Album ever made by the greatest Band in the History of the world, nay Universe. Ok mabye a slight hyperbole but what a Band. I've been listening to the track in vinyl, tape casette, Cd and Mpeg for over 35 years and i still love it. Thankyou Jon, Chris, Steve, Rick, Alan and all the others who have come and gone over the years apart from the matey from the Buggles (didn't really like that Bell end). Yes fan forever
Something happens at 6.40+ I just cant really explain it. Is this part, from 6.40 one of their finest moments. Could it be deep in my teenage past and a beautiful girl I used to listen to Yes with, she was the finest. Who knows! But believe me dear Yes fans its like an explosion in my head when it happens and my eyes are always a little moist by the end its Joy and deep appeciation to Steve Howe and all of them.
@teddingtontcu That Moog solo with the octaves two apart and the resolve of the theme is overwhelming to me too. This has always been my favorite, well, that's hard to say without taking into consideration everything else that they did. I wish that everyone "got it".
@aggressiveinliner11 Mate, its a Gibson BR9 steel guitar. Steve Howe used steel guitars often with Yes to very good effect - taking the instrument away from its usual country & western/blues comfort zone. However - the slide solo on this live version I've always felt sounds vile!! Steve Howe is absolutely my favourite musician - a remarkable man. 2011 should be a good YESYEAR. A new album & tour.
My first concert was at Colt Park in Hartford CT in 1975. I was 15.. I must have played the "Yessongs" album 1000 times prior to that night. I was among 30,000 avid YES fans. My buddy and I went to see them at the New Haven Coliseum in 1977. We took a chance before the concert to see if we could meet them coming from the Park Plaza Hotel and sure enough.............out walked Jon, Chris, and Rick. Somehow missed Steve and Alan. Still treasure the autographs I got from that night
I wish I have seen them alive at least one time... 4 years ago I saw a cover band named Yessongs. They played just two blocks away from my house and I loved them. You can see this same song here watch?v=86v5SXbyHWQ
This particular line-up at this point in time is almost unreal. The level of musicianship and the way they meshed, this is truly rare and magical. I also feel this is the best version of this song ever recorded. Squire in particular is on fire during his break.
Amazing. Ive been loking for better music than the 70s' English Rock but I was not successful. And I am going to see Yes just tonight in Floripa Music Hall - Florianopolis - Brazil. Tanx God!
saw jon and rick perform this song in buxton uk oct 2010 brought back so many memories. it was so good to see jon back on stage after his recent illness. and his voice is as good as its ever been. just one footnote if anyone is searching for new prog, check out Porqupine Tree. i only discovered them last year. but now im 54 i dont follow the music press as i did in my youth. love and peace to all.( it still has some meaning)
Timeless YES! This is IT folks....I'm a tad pessimistic, but I doubt that we will witness some sort of rebirth of bands making such memorable music. Melodies that really endure. Listen to these guys, in the glorious days of analog warmth! It takes me back to my teens when purchasing an album was an adventure. The digital age has its beauty...but.
' life tempos change out and inside of me.." just an incredible moment in the song with the funky bass line and then at around 7:10 steve is filled with hail shiva ! and begins his little dance..
saw them in houston in 1973- everyone in the arena was higher than weasels..
my girlfriend and I left and drove straight thru to san blas mexico for a surf trip..I tripped 15 hours straight came down at around 10 am driving down out of the mountains into guadalajara..with yessongs filling my head.
Same as donmile, was had tickets to see Pink Floyd in 1973 and the Floyd cancelled but the backup was Yes and they played for 3 hours. I couldn't find enough Yes music to fill the gap...it was a life experience.
The music today is god awful- for the most part. I think Radiohead has really been holding the torch for along time. Music today lacks arrangements, and a good hook. I just get sick to my stomach watching these so called musicians, or should I say, songwriters. Seriously, I know I could write better music than these people. Just no soul, and it's reflected in the twenty somethings I run up against today. Sad.
Awful recording completely misses the harmony of the vocals, etc. These guys were perfectionists and always had a great PA system. Too bad none of it translates here.
Love the camera shot rising over the back of the Minimoog at 4:10---pure bliss !!! Wonderfully innovative cinematography, considering that live concerts hadn't been filmed very much to this point. Dealing with the various lighting conditions, editing the film to capture the energy of the band---truly ground-breaking. Wish the sound was better after all these years, but, hey, it is what it is. Awesome band. Peace:-)
This was the 2nd Yes album I ever bought and it really takes me back now. It made Iowa even more enjoyable place to grow up in. Sitting out in the middle of nowhere or floating down a river with this blaring and echoing all over was magical in the 70's.
yessongs would play a town over at midnight. what an incredible band. we would end our shift in the chicken joint, then get a six pack and check this out.
Wow! Hadn't realised Rick used Tron choirs at 7:30! Brass, strings AND choir Tron! Yes! Tronfest or wot?!?!? This is Yes at their peak! Wakeman and Howe together - unbeatable combo!
dit was dus de muziek waar wij destijds al blowend helemaal op gingen. alleen de stem van jon anderson, gitaar etc. onnavolgbaar!!! jan.b.( overgens, de 70 jaren).
I've always loved Jon's presence. When he leaves and is backstage, he is covered like a Shaman James Brown to keep him from chilling (preserving that voice, especially in age). He doesn't touch people much since the old days though. Drank beer with Chris and Rick though in a side pub nobody would ever find them in. That's the secret to finding people like them. The cheapest joint in town.
Steve's sound is much more dirty here, with the slice guitar. I don't know if it's because of this is an early version or rather he was less careful. Still a great version.
I saw them in the round Madison Square Garden with the original line-up (with the exception of - I'm not sure which drummer) and later with Trevor Rabin. Some find them self-indulgent - I find them pioneering risk-takers, creative, joyful, positive - especially because of Anderson's lyrics, and the love all the musicians put into the performance!
The first time I saw YES was Feb. 1973 at Indiana State University. I was very impressed and they played the whole album "Close to the Edge". Health issues are keeping Jon and Rick from touring with the band now in 2010. I hear the replacements are good - but to me there's nothing like the real deal!
heh..to be honest...it was pretty good...the whole crowd was YES fans (duhh)...Howe was great....actually when we parked and were going into Penns Peak we had to pass the RV and Howe was in the window...probably on his laptop...was going to bang on the window but figured he would get scared and I would be banned...heh
I saw the same concert at Texas A&M University . . . it was like being visited by advanced magical creatures from another dimension . . . I wish them all better health and another union . . . I will drop everything
I saw Yes in Dallas my 2nd concert @13 they were so great . In the round Steve Howe had like 13 different stringed instruments on stands in a circle he stood in the middle. Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman looked like they had just popped out of middle earth. For a 13 yr old it was an eye opener.
This is progressive rock at its finest. They are the most diverse musicians I have ever heard in my life. No other bands music has ever made me feel like their music does.
@donmiles100 Isaw Yes in 71 in Charleston, west virginia, I thumbed 72 miles in November after school, grade11, I had to see this band, Afew days earlier I was in a music storen saw the Fragile LP, i had just put the roach in wallet, The artwork blew me away, bought the LP. IT kicked my ass. A few weeks earlier a freind took us to see SABBATH., Wild Turkey was the back up band for both concerts. To tell the truth after thumbing rides for 5hours +afew doobies, I thought YES was girls,Phew!
@donmiles100 I bet u were one stoned motherhucker too? how old were u? in 73 i was 14 & loved yes. this music was WAY before MTV & that crap. People i went to school wit listened to shit like ELTON & CROCHIE & that bunch & that was pop but none of that for me. I loved the stories with the music & unless you were the profile i was @ the time u missed some of the Best times know to american history & what it meant to grow up during this era & the MAGIC of this music. i know its not for everyone...
@donmiles100 I was there too. We leftt after the thrid Sabbath song. I always wondered what the promoter was thinking booking those two bands together.
Always loved Yes, always will. The old stuff. And Roger Dean. His artwork and sets were unforgettable. Still are. Anybody remember the giant clam shell??
can't make mistakes.... Blonde, tall, shining all over 347.548.235 keyboards.... YES that's Mr Rick Wakeman!! and Mr Howe and Mr Anderson and Mr White and Mr Squire :-)
Spineshivering. Nostalgia from way back when we jealously and with awe would eye that triple album a school mate brought to school to show off with...3 cheers for the upload. So nice to watch the live version.
this song makes me cry like a child is so beautifull really i love yes they are masters of the world, angels, they came from another planet to make us to learn about the universe
I love seeing classic rock bands from their prime. More recent recordings may be more refined and have better sound, but there's nothing like seeing a great band playing at the peak of their powers. The early 1970s reflected Yes at the pinnacle of their creative and magical powers.
I have to add one more thing. My very first rock concert was Yes in 1975. I also smoked pot for maybe the second time. As one might imagine, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Memorable in an ecstatic way.
This music makes me experiment a lot of feelings i can explain, i fantasy, this guys are from another planet, i planet where music is sacred...and they came here to teach us...among other ones that try to keep us in ignorance...progressive rock rules.
Right Heaven on earth, i used to watch this vid on another channel, but i think now has been suspended, i really thank you for uoliading this big peace of art

HAH :-D how cute with that baby voice in the beginning! (just too bad back then they probably didn't protect its hearing)

This was the 2nd Yes album I ever bought and it really takes me back now. It made Iowa even more enjoyable place to grow up in. Sitting out in the middle of nowhere or floating down a river with this blaring and echoing all over was magical in the 70's.

Yes was in Boston in the 70"s; maybe 1977? Best concert I ever saw. Jon's voice is unbeatable and the musicians so talented!

I'll let you know...seeing them Friday...and I know it's not Jon or Rick...but it is his son...I'm just going to see Howe..:-)

heh..to be honest...it was pretty good...the whole crowd was YES fans (duhh)...Howe was great....actually when we parked and were going into Penns Peak we had to pass the RV and Howe was in the window...probably on his laptop...was going to bang on the window but figured he would get scared and I would be banned...heh

I love seeing classic rock bands from their prime. More recent recordings may be more refined and have better sound, but there's nothing like seeing a great band playing at the peak of their powers. The early 1970s reflected Yes at the pinnacle of their creative and magical powers.
ls1959 2 years ago 4
I have to add one more thing. My very first rock concert was Yes in 1975. I also smoked pot for maybe the second time. As one might imagine, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Memorable in an ecstatic way.
ls1959 2 years ago 4
This music makes me experiment a lot of feelings i can explain, i fantasy, this guys are from another planet, i planet where music is sacred...and they came here to teach us...among other ones that try to keep us in ignorance...progressive rock rules.
