I remember seeing a 3 yr. old on t.v. years ago, who played the piano like a pro, his name was Patricio and he was from Los Andes. I remember he was interviewed @ his home and his parents were with him. He was so little he had to kneel on the stool. I remember he also sang Arroz con Leche, I have wondered since then about Patito de Los Andes, could this be him?
This is the concerto of which the critics said, It starts like Bach and ends like Offenbach...Cruel, but they did have a point :-)... I am quoting critics of the day... This is in no way a comment on the quality of the performance...
Curiosamente a este pianista lo había oído mencionar, pero nunca me había dado el tiempo de escucharlo... y debo admitir que me ha sorprendido, es un excelente pianista, tremendamente talentoso, tiene un sonido muy colorido... ¡bravo Patricio!
That's a fair call. Although I love Rachmaninoff possibly more than any other composer. Considering that, towards the end of the movement reminds me very much of near the end of the first movement of Rachmaninoff's first piano concerto in F-Sharp Minor.
wow, how old are you, this is extremely good and with the recording quallity / the type its extremely good. You posses a good technique. one word: wow
Wonderful. Please post your Menin it would be a grt serviceto have Menin and szymanowsky only Horszowski on utube with mazurkas. We will all be following your career excitedly . Commited strong playing in gminorSt.Saens.Would love to hear u n more Chopin ! the bach partita is my fave can't wait!
a truly good job, well done to the pianist, to the conductor, and to the orchestra. this performance is tour dé force. its no wonder all the comments here are compliments!!!
Este concierto, era "El caballito de batalla" del maestro Arthur Rubinstein. Al pareder tenemos un nuevo Rubinstein con este concierto, Calificado por el Ravel como el padre de la orquestación moderna.
BRAVO !!!!! What a pianist and talent . Never have I heard such a difficult concerto played with such grace and poise. Strong yet delicate hands, makes this look so easy - but its not easy by any manner or means. The only other pianist that I have heard ply this concerto is Moura Lympany and thats a very old recording that I have
The ending on this piece of music is supremo.

Is this oriental pianist?
I think oriental pianist would rather play more sentimentally.
Anyway this 3rd mov. is mechanical one isn't this?
hopi519 1 year ago
Am I alone in finding oriental perfomers too mechanical rather than soulful? Just a thought.

Why do people call this "Etude for ghosts"? Just curious
bdub1 1 year ago
@bdub1 It's a battle theme in the video game, Mother 3, which sounds remarkably similar to the third movement of this concerto.

OMG this piece is amazing... and performed so brillantly. It gives me shivers. Should be used as a soundtrack for films.

Try playing this. Very difficult. Not like a lot of Saint-Saens concerti.

Does anyone think that the orchestral part between 2:20 and 2:55 vaguely resembles the Cuckoo from "Carnival of the Animals?"

If there were any piano concerto I want to learn it's this one, just for the sheer joy of the tarentella of this movement.

Etude for Ghosts is only inspired off of it.
I dig the recent appreciation in classical though. I hope the trend continues.

He's crazy....
Playing from 2:15 till 2:55 only with one hand..
Really well played. Better than me that's for sure.
lilianne12345 2 years ago 4
Oh that's nothing. Ravel (and several other composers) wrote whole piano concertoes for just one hand.

this concerto beats every single concerto i've ever heard. GO SAINT SAENS

AZ...its good, but c'mon. Do you honestly think it's better than Rachmaninoff's 2nd? NO WAY!

but the orchestra seems not professional...

yeah, the orchestra seem to be a youth orchestra or a university orchestra of some sort. Not a professional one.
Good soloist though.
