@oIRONITEo The reason dale died as determined by NASCAR is that the metal bracket that the belt slides through and that bolts to the chassis wasnt able to move freely. It caused the belt to pull harder on one side than the other, causing the tear. NASCAR and Simpson released some videos hosted by Benny Parsons about how to properly install a safety harness due to that crash. It's on here somewhere.

I think I met Mike Harmon before this wreck. If im not mistaken he drove in the NASCAR west or southwest series and his car was sponsered by a restraunt near my house and he was there one night...might be someone different. What they ever do with that gate?

btw, mike harmon in my opinion is the most underrated driver in stock car racing other than tony raines-give him a hendrick ride and he'd be a cup championship in a couple of years
