I have never read or saw photos of the Chinese armies having he famous French 75mm 1897 cannon. Most of its light artillery was supplied by Krupp or Sodka in Czechoslovakia.
Also, I wish they had shown the cannon recoiling.
Last, after the US entered the war, it supplied almost all its production of 75mm pack howitzers with wooden wheels (it has to specially produce the wheels).
I used to read a book regarding Chinese artillery in 1937-1945.
Chinese army did have limited number of French 75mm 1897 cannons in the beginning of the war with Japan and I saw its picture in that book. At that time, Krupp or Sodka cannons were new weapons and were only issued to some elite units. You could be surprised to know that the backbone of Chinese artillery were Japanese cannons and their Chinese copies.
During the show the soldier says it is an "Italian gun".(not in this scene) I suppose the Japanese imported such guns and it is then looted by the CCP prior to this episode.
I wish I could get the DVD of this impressive patriot war film. During the eight-year war, the only modern artillery pieces in Chinese Army were some 40 German sFH18 150mm cannons. The total firepower is even smaller than that in a modern PLA divison. Thanks much for those brave soldiers. China could finally win the war.
Chinese did make a lot native artillery, but if you take a look at certain weapons: German mauser copies, czech machineguns, stens, thompsons, a lot are not native
这有点不真实,离得这么近,日军没有狙击手吗?
