  • 3 people were attacked by the avada kedavra

  • John Williams, what are genius you are:D

  • part of what made the early harry potter films so magical was this score, nothing would make me happier than to hear the original john williams score over the credits of the final film specifically harry's wondrous world.

  • amazing. im a really big Harry Potter fan and I swear I'd love nothing more than to hear this live. It's so smooth and beautiful. Every time I hear it I remember The Sorcerer's Stone when Harry first came into Hogwarts. That amazing exhilleration is always there. Only The John Williams could do that with a lyricless masterpiece

  • If i ever hear this live, conducted by the great John Williams, i swear i would cry, nono, SOB out of happiness <3

  • @moodswings i also did cry =) i teared

  • I REALLY wish he'd score the last two movies!!

  • Too Perfect! ;DD

  • yeah it is the first seven seconds with the celeste. i think the end credits waa my favorite theme in that soundtrack.

  • just out of curiosity, why didn't John Williams compose for some of the movies?

  • John Williams did not return for Deathly Hallows part 1; the part went to Alexandre Desplat...

  • God, John Williams should have composed Harry Potter 5 and 6, not (ugh...) hooper. I love this theme!!! :D

  • Nicholas Hooper wasn't that bad. Fireworks and Professor Umbridge were great.

  • hes a true stroke of genius. At the quidditch segment, i teared up and got goosebumps lol

  • John Williams is the MAN.

  • omg this is my favourite one!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not really a harry potter fan but this song is pretty awesome. I like the half step raise at 1:30 with the french horns. And i like how the main melody alternates keys to have a mystifying but triumphant feeling.

  • wow this music was fantastic!!! It still gives me goosebumbs. the music now is forgettable, because John is not composing it anymore. he has made the most thrilling, magical music for amazing movies and I am so sad he did not do the music for all of the Harry Potter movies.

  • yes me too but he left his mark in all the Harry Potter films as all the other composers keep a few notes from his original score. There is a rumour he'll be scoring the last 2 movies wouldn't that be awesome!

  • it really would!!!! I hope he does!

  • it's true! he will be scoring theme:) he has said that he would love to return for the final films!!

    i really love his music

  • oh he is!!! I am so excited. his music is always amazing

  • it was so sad when the old dmbledor died after the 2(nd) movie. but my favorite for some reason is the prisoner of askaban. i don't know why.

  • man the first harry potter was so great and happy, it's definitely among the happiest movies I know

  • well my bad all the sheet music i have says john williams on it , maybe its bootleg idk????

  • Star Wars, Pirates Of the Caribbean, jurassic park, forrest gump, and so much more wow this man is a BEAST!!!

  • What are your talking about: "Pirates of the Caribbean"? Williams had never once worked with Disney ever.

  • he didn't compose forrest gump, that's alan silvestri...

  • Facepalm

  • Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt does Pirates of the Caribbean music XD I <3 John Williams music, Hans Zimmer music and Klaus Badelt XD

  • No other composer that I could remember could create so many memorable themes for so many countless movies. You hear bits of notes and you immediately recognize the films they belong to. And very few composers could transport us thru music into fantastic places like Isla Nublar, Hogwarts, a galaxy far far away,or hiking adventures with an archaeologist, a little alien, or the man of steel. Only one composer could do that, the man JOHN WILLIAMS!!!

  • Wow, this man is amazing. I knew who he was, I just didnt know how many great movies he has made songs for.

Harry potter, Star wars, Et, Indiana, Star Trek, War of Worlds, jurrassic park, wow

  • he didn't do the star trek. other composers did, Jerry Goldsmith being the most famous theme he did.

  • John Williams is freaking awesome ^___^ i love the man

  • he should have scored for 4 5 and 6. the new composer is good no offence to him but he doesnt touch my heart the way john williams did.

  • John Williams est celui qui je pense, est celui qui est né pour jouer les musiques d'Harry Potter, personnellement, je préfère lui à Patrick Doyle... Ces musiques sont mieux !

  • John Williams is THE Music Man

  • Tear up everytime I hear it. John Williams know how to touch your soul. Seriously. I would love to see a strictly Harry Potter performance from John Williams....

  • Ma che cazzo però, è proprio il massimo

  • I love this piece! Way to go John Williams!!

  • does anyone know why Williams didn't score in HP4, 5 and 6?

  • He probably have something better to do than score on every Harry Potter films.

  • Yeah, but what? That was actually my question. He obviously had something else to do.

  • also star wars III; he actually included a measure dedicated to harry potter in "A New Hope and End Credits" from the Episode III OST. The stories of Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker are similar and I'm sure he knew that.

  • hmm...i've been listening to that track "A New Hope and End Credits" for the past couple of days (because i'm attempting to make an arrangement of music from the 1st trilogy for symphonic band) and i'm lost as to where this measure is...I'm going to guess...The beginning of the track (00:07 in)?

or did you not mean that it QUOTED harry potter, but was JUST dedicated to?

  • i remember reading somewhere he dedicated a bar/measure to harry potter. i'm sure it meant it quoted harry potter, but of course, subtly. i know it was right in the beginning and i was able to find it before after listening to it maybe about 200 times haha. but now i can't remember when it was. but i know before the star wars themes begin

  • He chose to score Memoirs of a Geisha instead of Goblet of Fire.

  • I <3 John Williams. He's probably one of the best composers of our time. Word.

  • yeh word.

  • John Williams is a GENIUS! ^^ to me anyway.

  • It's one of the most memorable songs that Sir John Williams ever made. He have to back to 7th

  • They should have kept him to do the other HP Films...Hopefully he will return to do the last one!!!

  • Yeah, he couldn't do HP4 cause he had to score Star Wars III and war of the worlds and some other stuff

  • They could have, however just taken the scores from the first three and kept playing them over and over again in Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix.

  • That's not how you score movies though. The music wouldn't match the action and help push the film's story.

  • isn't a bit of respect due to the person who posts the video? its their video. they can do what they want with the comments. they can remove comments, they can put thumbs up or thumbs down whenever they like.

but the main idea, yeah, most music should go with the story. but every little bit? i don't know...

  • Sorry, but what's it to you?

  • Not much, really. Sorry if it offended you. But the comments is a place to express your thoughts. Hope you don't mind, but its also not a place to argue.

  • Look, I just really miss the films not being like the first two, alright?

  • Sorry, sorry, my bad. I understand. Won't bother you. Sorry. My mistake. Don't take it to heart.

  • It's cool. You know what's the one change I hate most of all? The school uniforms; they used to be all black with gray sweaters underneath, now they're black with the house colors running down the lining and black sweaters underneath.

  • Comment removed

  • He composed "Hedwig's Theme" for all the Harry Potter films, so he's part of the series either way.

  • Yeah, I know. But the thing is, I just miss the golden age when when the cast were all young and when Chris Columbus was director/producer. Movies with a darker tone always make me feel down. So, it's a blessing at least that Half-Blood Prince is PG-rated.

  • I think Chris Columbus should have directed them all. I mean, obviously the movies can't be exact replicas of the book, but I found in the first two movies I only had a limited amount of complaints, and they were usually "Oh, I didn't imagine that looking that way." but other than that, he did an amazing job! I find in the other movies there are SOOOO many things wrong with them. Major things. Chris Columbus was the best director I think! (Along with Richard Harris is the best Dumbledore!!)

  • Thank you for agreeing with me, I do wish Columbus would at least return as producer, the films just aren't the same without him. And yes, it's such a tragedy that Richard Harris had died, the Michael Gambon Dumbledore is just a crotchety old guy who doesn't have much patience with things.

  • He just doesn't seem like Dumbledore! He's not understanding enough, or anything that makes Dumbledore Dumbledore! I mean, Dumbledore would never have shaken Harry like he did. Humph.

  • You know who I think would've made an EXCELLENT Dumbledore instead of Gambon? Roberts Blossom from Home Alone.

  • He done Starwars and Indiana Jones aswell. Love him :D

  • What! HE DID THE HARRY POTTER THEME!! WHAT THE!? *

  • WTF?! You didn't know that??? He scored the first three films.

  • The last 2 or 3 harry potter have been using other conducters and just basing the music on his work, therfore if you pay attention the quality of the music has lessened since.

Have you realise that when John writes a theme it is instantly the trademark of the movie ! That's how good he is .

  • aaaah wish i could be there!! he's the best!!

  • John Williams is the best, I think I would be able to kill if I heard something mean about him or his work

  • john...:( i love you!

  • I didn't know John conducted the Harry Potter theme.

  • he wrote it :)

  • John Williams is the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • totally agree, friend!

  • maravilloso!!

  • maravilloso!!

  • This song is a complete work of art. I love him. Do you notice any similarity to this from anyhting from star wars? he does there music to.

  • some parts are very similar... particularly to anakins theme and other pieces played throughout the movies

  • i don't get why people thumbs downed your comment... i agree with you. i've noticed a lot of similarities throughout all of his music, even in the themes too.

since he couldn't score HP4 because he was scoring Star Wars, he "dedicated" a measure to Harry Potter in "A New Hope and End Credits" from the Episode III OST. The stories of Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker are similar and I'm sure he knew that.

  • I noticed that too in the Space Camp Soundtrack.

  • love john williams! the music is the best thing about the HP films:) makes them tolerable:)

love it! hope he'll write the HBP and DH!

  • so do i, i think the first 2 or 3 movies which had his music in them were more sucsessful then than they are now, because he disint compose for the 4rth and 5th movies =(

  • Yes I agree with you CordalasBB. But I like Hedwigs theme too.

  • Great SOng

  • One of him bests song about HP ;)

    Great.
