  • Are any of those DVDs have any learning information on chiller systems, cooling towers etc? I am in the process of studying for my 1st for my 1st Refrigeration license and need a visual to refresh my memory. I youse to operate a 2ton chiller under the chief engineer. Any suggestion as to where to look for learning DVDs. I mostly did the maintenance and operation on roof tops and heat pumps.

  • @Princesss1225 Good question. I don't know of any chiller DVDs on the market. You might want to check out rses (dot) org.

  • Hi Dr. Z., Do I have interest to buy the DVDs but all the dvds are in whole and since I do to buy them?? Am I from Venezuela but I travel on December 19 to Orlando Florida, who is the cost of all the DVDs?? thanks for the information.

  • @cesar1972 You can call Baker Distribuing at: 352-376-3212

  • @DrZarkloff do they speak Spanish? or can he say to me the direction in Florida to visit them?? or an email to contact them

  • @DrZarkloff Sorry, they don't speak Spanish. They can sell the DVDs to you and mail them to your address.

  • i have a heil unit and have replaced the compasator, fan motor, and inside thermostat. the compressor is running fine but the outside fan will stop after a couple hours even after replacing with new motor. what might be the problem now. will blow cool air until the outside fan cuts off

  • @eabrooks1234 You need to see if the blower relay is calling for the fan to run. You could even have a bad blower relay.

  • @eabrooks1234 Condenser coil is clogged or very dirty not allowing enough air flow to cool the condenser fan motor or someone put the wrong fan blade on.

  • First off thank you for posting your videos. I am an Auto Tech. I am master certified and I enjoy working on auto a/c. I am looking for a change, it is getting harder and harder to make good money in my field. I am interested in HVAC. In your opinion would it be an easy transition for me? I am good with electrical diag and mechanical. I understand temp and pressure relationships. How much do you have in tools? I have 50K and always buying more!! Thanks

  • @ktumbleweed I'd say that the transition to working on stationary systems should be relatively easy for you. You can get started with about one thousand dollars worth of tools. You probably already have most of them. You might want to check out your local community college to see if they offer HVACR training.

  • @DrZarkloff Thanks for you input. I will def check into community college. One more question if you don't mind. I have had some medical issues lately. I have seizure disorder (a form of epilepsy) I am on medication to control it. do you foresee this causing me any issues? I am supposed to stay off ladders and high places... etc etc. What do you think? How often do you need to climb on a ladder??

  • @ktumbleweed Climbing ladders is pretty much a must unless you own your own business.

  • I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making these videos.Thank you.

  • @TouchedByZVegetables Thanks for watching.

  • can i take the epa test without going to school?

  • @dimasdeleon83 Yes. Many of the HVAC parts stores have someone there who is a qualified Section 608 EPA proctor.

  • @DrZarkloff so your saying if i learned enough about hvac, i could just go to an hvac parts store and take a test?

  • @666alilthrowedoff666 Yes. You'll need to buy the study guide first so that you can study it before taking the test.

  • Is it me, or are reversing valves a pain in the ass to change? I mean the commercial ones, with 3/4 discharge, opposite (3) 1 1/8 copper stubs. So easy to overheat! They need to design a better valve, with unions or something.

  • @marshalljimduncan Roto couplings would probably make the job a little easier until the manufacturer stopped making the OEM valve.

  • Wow you are amazing!! You really helped us a lot on trying to get our HVAC career going. THAN YOU!!!

  • @tangnatalaga Thanks for watching.

  • hi..can you make a video about on how to hook up a smoke detector to a furnace...vent detector air flex model 4120a,,,now municipalities are requiring to install one in the basement if you have a kitchen...THANKS

  • @pedrocholo I don't do the fire alarm systems. That job is someone elses.

  • @pedrocholo I don't do the fire alarm systems. That job is someone elses.

  • Dr.Zarkloff,Thanks for all this information.I went to school about 2 years ago.I haven't worked in the field.I lost a lot of knowledge.Your videos are like a refresher course. Thanks!God bless

  • @MrFelixbracero Thanks for watching.

  • hello Dr Z. i appreciate your concern for people of color to learn the business. i am applying for classes as we speak, thanks for the information you share, we need more people offering help in the world, like you. keep changing lives

  • When was their mention about people of color? And why would it matter?

  • Exactly: Who cares. If somebody wants to do this occupation who cares as long as the job is done right.

(I actually have 2 black guys in my class. One is pretty good and I didn't get a chance to get to know the other. He went to jail for robbing a hotel with a sawed-off shotgun

  • @hot2wheeler I know white ppl who robb and steal so BS.

  • @one4yourjob Thanks for watching. I wish you the best.

  • Carrier website has a ton of videos some are specific to carrier products and some are just fundamentals........Most good company's these days have (or should have) an up to date library of books and DVDs. if not, you confront someone about it. this only makes good since

  • HvacrTalk . com welcomes Techs contractors and consumers to join free and discuss and trade info and learn meet others in the trade. good links and resources...all you need is a valid email to activate your account.

  • I guess that leave me out; I'm just a tech.

  • hey dr Z im in class today and the instructor says that a lot of the guys out there in ac only use dry bulb and that thats the wrong way he says today manufactures want you to use wet bulb how do you feel about this

  • Yes. Many manufacturers want you to use both the wet and dry bulb.

  • i was reading the comments; thanks Dr. you have been a nice and help full resource in my process of learning HVAC, at this I only deal with heat pump (electrical), thanks for your time and your knowledge and more important your desire to help and serve people.

  • Thanks. It's fun to me.

  • Looks like a good set of videos i wish i had some of them when i was in school.

  • This was Great !!!! I purchased a few and I like what I see thank you much and keep up the good work... Ed Holmes des Plaines IL

  • Thanks

  • I agree with Xaves511. it's a lot of hard work so you'll have to find people to help you, or you could pitch the idea to some production company. You have the talent to make this big if you go through the right channels.

  • Thanks. It's nice of you to say so.

  • looks like there are alot of recourses there!

  • Definitely something to check out if you're going for NATE.

  • Hi Jim. Here's an idea. Since you are so likeable and good at what you do, why don't you produce your own DVD series?

  • Thanks for the compliment. Maybe if I ever get the demand.

  • I am getting tired working in IT, I think I will transition in your field.

  • Believe it or not, you can use your IT talents in the HVAC industry. We have to be electricians, plumbers, carpenters, electronics techs, sheetmetal mechanics, and computer network techs all rolled into one.

Most of the HVAC techs that work for the school board have their Microsoft cerification. It's so tough to get a secure job in IT that they just stay in the HVAC industry.

  • those are what i have been looking for...thanks for the information

  • You're welcome.

  • wow those are nice.

  • I was happy to find them.

  • Baker dist. just closed down in Fresno area

  • That's a real shame.

  • even better a computer program that you can play around with. I think that would work better than cd's

  • They help too. Thanks

  • Rule Number 1: Don't advertise for your competition =D

  • I got you to watch; didn't I? :)
