  • Hello! Does anyone know when I can downloan this video for free or any other video about Tri-state Tornado in 1925? I need it for my assignment. I'd gleatly appreciate the advice!

  • Is it okay to cry when listening to that eerie music in the background and remembering a long documentary about this tornado from years back? >.<;

  • I have been seriously considering making a film about the Tri State, it's been a big part of my thoughts for a long time, and I would have no intention of altering any history, honestly the story is horrific enough, I would imagine it less of a disaster film, more of a horror story

  • If you're gonna stick random tornado clips into a video about a tornado in 1925, try to use some without 50 mph speed limit signs.

  • I know this tornado happened when video and cameras were at their smallest but it would have been neat if someone could have got a black and white picture of the thing.

  • the may fury was bigger than the tri state but the tri state did more damage correct?

  • The Yazoo tornado vindicates the single tornado explaination for the Tri State Event since it also stayed on the ground for three hours.

  • If you follow the track today, many of the massive trees show tell tail signs of the distruction

  • March 18th, my birthday!

  • 695 deaths to be correct

  • i used to watch that collection soo often!! i was actually looking for it so i could see that 3d animation of what it would look like.

  • Back in the 90's they had a special about the TS Tornado in the weather channel home movies collection. Hundreds of lives were lost due to nobody knew what it was. It looked like a giant cloud passing by with the cyclone hidden inside. Most people just assumed it was a very awkward storm, which turned out to be worse than just awkward. So getting the chance to actually see the tornado itself was unlikely.

  • one thing that is really eerie is the idea that if you were living in that time to see the tornado photo, until that moment, a tornado could only be pictured by 99% of the world's population. and seeing that photo gives you a glimpse of reality of a tornado.

  • i know what picture you're talking about also about that 1884 picture. it is creepy as hell. especially because nobody in the world was alive in 1884 that is alive right now. and the tornado looks more like a devil than anything and it looks like it is evening in the background.

  • I would very seriously doubt that there are any photos of this tornado at all. Even from afar, it would not look anything like a tornado. According to every witness account (dozens and dozens) that I've read, this thing did not look anything like a tornado, but more like the entire storm cloud was on the ground. Add to that the fact that cameras really sucked in 1925, and weren't real "portable", I'd be amazed if there's even one picture of it.

  • i live in hamilton county illinois. that tornado would have hit my house.

  • I love tornadoes! I've always wanted to see what the Tri-State torndao looked like! When I grow up i wanna be a tornado chaser/watcher.

  • if hollywood ever made movie about this storm they will find someway to turn it into a love story jut like they did with pearl harbour. I left in the middle of the movie. i hope if anyone try to make a movie that they stick with what actually happened.

  • I sure hope I get the chance to make a movie based on this! I hope someone does a real good documentary on it. I've seen something that was a part of a weather channel special, I think, that was pretty good, but by no means definitive.

  • I have read where people have said that there were liked 6 funnels dancing around in the main core of the twister this proves that it was multivortex.

  • I would be absolutely amazed if this was not the case.

  • @usgitmo38 Okay.

  • @usgitmo38 Like the Titanic too.

  • I always heard it was 689 fatalities. I guess maybe the number might have gone up. Regardless, the death toll and destruction can't be described. Its unreal.

  • up date on tri-state tornado

    1. the funnel was never in the cold sector

    2. the funnel was right there where it was suposed to be

    3. the tornado touched down 15 miles further south west

4 the end of the track maybe even longer or shorter not sure

    5. evidence so far support "1" continuous tornado could change though

  • i wonder has anyone thought making a movie about this storm.

if i was a movie producer i would consider making a movie about this tornado

  • @usgitmo38 who would you cast in the role of the tornado?

  • tri state tornado pictures do exist. there is even a guy who was north west of ellington that day with his partner and they filmed as the tornado touched down and quickly disappeared behind clouds in a rare footage lasting 3 minutes.

  • No they don't. I have done quite a bit of research on this tornado (admittedly not as much as Charles Doswell, who has a book coming out soon), and there are no photographs or films of this one. It was in 1925, and people running around with cameras were rare. Add to that the fact that this thing, by all witness accounts, didn't even look like a tornado, it would have been near impossible to film.

  • well all i know about the photographs is i saw several damaged school houses from the tornado and i went on google i saw one picture of a fat tornado that looks like it was going into a parking lot, and the cars in that photo definetely look like they came from around that period and that was a very monstrous sized tornado.

  • Yep- I've seen that one. It's not the tri-state. Those are cars from a much different period than the 1920s, but no worries! That is a monster tornado in that pic.

  • i wish there was a picture of this Monster Tornado. the Tri-State Tornado of 1925 is by far still america's MEGA TWISTER

  • the great natchez tornado is said to have possibly killed more than the tri state. they say the 317 killed by natchez were only for whites living in the downtown area. because colours weren't counted back then. and the natchez tornado went into the countryside and destroyed over 60 plantations and several farms in that area also.

  • it was said that natchez tornado would have been the worse tornado disaster if it had the city from a different angle. i do believe that there is a possibility that this tornado did kill more than tri-state tornado but the tri-state tornado did kill more than 695 and other dead poeple bodies were never found but thanks for info

  • the track of the monster tornado is about to change from 219 to probaly 234 do to an old redcross report and the fact that poeple road on horse back to find other victims. the starting point is some where in shannon, missouri near the town of eminence.

  • The tornado also set another remarkable record, as its forward speed between Gorham and Murphysboro, IL was an unprecedented 73 mph. There weren't cars that moved that quickly back in that day...Many described its appearance as that of a rolling fog rather than an actual tornado because of its width and speed.

  • Well this account is actually my grandsons but I might take your idea to mind. Thank you for the idea and such. Im glad to know that there are still some folks out there who actually care about the disaster.

  • lolz i remembr that once in second grade i had a book on tornados and the tri state one was in the book

  • i read that book yesterday lolz

  • My grandfather died in that tornado.... I was only 6 when it happened. I still remember all that happend.....

  • I'm sorry about your grandfather. I heard the horror stories about the 1925 tornado. I often wonder how many lives could have been spared if they had early warning devices like they do today.

  • Thank you for caring.... You're one of the few people who actually care.... Others joke around about this disaster thinking it was no big deal but It was. Other people I knew were killed in that twister as well. Again I thank you for your concerns....

  • they would've had some type of early warning had the national weather service not band tornado forecasting. a tornado of this magnitude will happen again.

  • No doubt. It's not a question of if a tornado like this will happen again. It's just a question of when. Hopefully early warning devices will prevent the casualty level of 1925.

  • You should write up your recollection of the events of that day, whether it be here or elsewhere. I know that I and many others would be absolutely fascinated to hear what you had to say about something that obviously hit very close to home for you. There are so few people left who witnessed this enormous disaster; your account would be a real treasure to have. I would absolutely love to hear what you had to say if you were willing to share it.

  • new re-analysis on the tri-state reveals

    1. it was one continous tornado

    2. path length about 20 miles longer at the start point so 219 miles might be change from between 234mi to 239 mi.

    3. shannon county missouri is the start according to old documents found.

4 the end point might even be longer

this is all i know for now

  • there are no known photos of it, but i have a weather channel video where they do a digital animation of it that i want to put on here. it is crazy

  • i did a report on this i got a a!

  • i know i hope there is cuz its gotta be huge

  • i bet that there is a picture of that mammoth twister

  • Thre actually are a few pictures but they are very rare. (And are not in color.. lol.)

  • f5 Tornado 357 kmh strong twister of the world
