  • I think, Damien is the grown up Little Prince ....cuz he cant be from this fuckin planet.....

  • @rockgirl236 Some times ago I thought exactly the same thing about him!

  • Lisa Hannigan and Damien Rice... You are unbelievable!

  • FYI, that's Glen Hansard playing guitar behind Damien :)

  • So uh... did he throw the wine glass in the end?... because he definitely didn't set it down hahaha

  • Lol at him being hammered on stage :L

  • Vaya melocotón que se pilla, no?? jajajajajajajajaja....

  • ......... Anyone else notice that Glen Hansard is just chillin in the back playin guitar?!!

  • @aboyle9090 I'd recognise that battered Takamine anywhere...

  • @aboyle9090 Looks like Marketa is on piano too...

  • Is that Glen Hansand playing the guitar?

  • @TheLastBaron93 omygoshness i think it is my dreams of a humongous collab might come true lol

  • Genius!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is actually the first time I've seen Damien and Lisa hugging, and actually looking like they know each other. They never even look at each other when singing together.

  • RIght now I'm sipping on Irish Creme on the rocks. This song fits my mood perfectly. So cheers, darlin. He'll only break your heart the way that you broke mine.

  • 6:12 they look so good for each other.. such a shame they split. I just wish they come back together and sing lots of songs and make a new tour to Latinoamerica so I can finally see them ): it's not the same if they're separated. Just hope they're ok now.

  • Yeah thats Glen Hansard "from once" in the backgroud. They're friends

  • locked oclock.such a good song!but is the fella in the back playing the strings the man out of the irish film once????

  • That should be one one Damien's greatest moments. The band, Lisa still here and Glen for guest. This is our heyday... baby ! And we're not gonna be afraid to shout !

ps : Shane drink directly at the bottleneck. C(^.c.^)D

  • Good lad! See it off!

  • A bit sad to see sing them so close just a few months before they separated (6.23), it fits this song ,i think

  • can anybody tell me what about whas that story, cause i cant hear, understand anything.

  • Short version...guy runs into girl, they get a drink in a bar, they get another drink in a bar, becomes midnight and he says "crap we're going to miss our bus", she says "no no, my boyfriend is picking me up"....so the guy writes this song.

  • oh. thank you.;>

  • 6:30 he gets emotional. most sad and greatest song ever

  • 2 of my fav songwriters on the same stage. Good stuff.

  • love this version, especially because Hansard is playing the guitar in the back....

Two great musicians on stage, could this get any better...

    LOVE IT !!!!

  • the story behind this song changes every gig

  • god i love him so fucking much. the sexy beast. ;)

  • Drunk and heartbroke again.. really need this song.

  • hahaha:D your comment made me laugh.

  • Don't even remember posting it lul

  • It happens, buddy. :)

  • My hero. Right there. The drunk one.

    :P

  • A genius... this song is so sad but the version! amazing... funny and sad, amazing.

  • whata fucking legend

  • i remember hearing this story live. he's quite charming, isn't he?

  • bania eisai kouto

  • jajajaajajaja!!!!!,i love himmm so much

  • the story changes everytime...

  • that IS Glen! geez wish I was there (sigh)

  • Was this in cirque royal in brussels?

  • He's Irish...he's not drunk after 3 glasses of wine...or 4...or 5...its an act for the song...and a good one at that :)

  • Irishmen drinking wine, is like the rest of us drinking water! He drinks it for the taste, not the effects. He be drinking Jamisons if he wanted to get lit!!!!

  • I must confess, I had real fears for that wineglass!

  • god i love him. I also love that he's sloshed<3

  • Thats effing Glen Hansard playing in the background!

  • Perfect!

I have no words for it.

  • anyone know why damien rice and lisa stopped preforming together?

  • They stopped dating?

  • They stopped dating long before Damien fired Lisa.

  • No way! Lisa's always been way too shy. Damien helped her over the years by including her into his band/music. Now she's all grown up, she was ready for her own music, her own album and that's the only reason why she went her own way. There's no fight, no conflicts! That's just bull the media tells!

  • I read somewhere that Lisa didn't like where Damien was going musically and they had some conflicts along the way. I might be wrong but if not..that's the reason haha. Other than that, go hear her solo album freakin awesome. Both Damien and Lisa are awesome.

  • NineInchNailsZero

    I so agree with you!

  • that is real wine. they're fuckin irish lol irish dont drink fake alcohol for anything...speaking from experience here. they are just acting drunk for the song's sake.

  • @repashj1 he seems pretty fucking drunk

  • amazing!!

  • Sigh... I'm so sad I will never see Damien and Lisa perform together. Great performance and chemistry!!

  • GENIUS !

  • two lords

    glen and damien

    ....

  • glen hansard playing guitar there??

  • yup, looksit

  • omfg Oo

  • for those of you who didnt realise, he's the in character of the man in the story and acting drunk.

  • Comment removed

  • so how do you know that that is not real wine?

  • Disgraceful? pray tell, what is disgraceful about an artist enjoying a drink?

  • and he's not really drunk...it's for the song context

  • Glen is the man!

  • breathtaking song!! im soo in love with that!

if you like this kinda music you may will like these two guys too!

    nilsmachtmusik - on youtube!

  • i miss lisa hannigan! never saw the holding each other

  • Ha, this caught me off guard, i swear someone told me he was Australian!

well, nevermind, great showmanship and song

  • wow,totally drunk and he's still singing...respect xD

  • haha, glen hansard is just chillin in the back with a guitar.

  • awesome!!

  • drunk

  • IRish peoplE

  • He lives in cellbridge, just down the road from where I live

  • this is magic!!!

it's so cute that part with him and Lisa hugging and singing together

p.s: is just me or is really hard to understand what he says in the intro of the song, specially when it's about to begin? hahaha.

  • yeah i've seen him three times here in atlanta... and sometimes his accent can be thick

  • Is that Glen Hansard on the guitar? :O

  • yeah.

    its really glen hansard.

  • The only words I can remember to this when I'm drunk are "Cheers, Darlin! Here's to you and your lover boy.."

people who don't know the song get confused haha..

    great performance.

  • one of the best songs to listen to when you're drunk. and it's even more fun when you sing it out loud walking down the street late at night. haha

  • God, he's a bloody genius! This man touches my soul like no other artist... And for that I'll be forever thankful, Mr. Rice ;)

  • lovelily dress lisa!(y)

  • awesome. i think i'm in love with him.

  • :o) Ah well get in the line :o)

  • i think hes tipsy

  • Wonderful song and great performance. Sad that the girl isnt singing anymore with him :-(

  • Yeah lisa is on tour with other guy now...

  • bitch.. haha

  • Omg is dat glen hansard in d back?? R him nd damien 4nds??

  • Yeah, is Glen :D

  • Damien~my fave!!!he's the one!

  • Yeah, I was there. It's Glen, as he opened up that night and came out for a few with Damien. Amazing show!

  • i love damien, even drunk he's the best!

  • This reminds me of Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean.Lovely Character.Damien is one of the greatest singers nowa days and will be way more famous after he'll be dead.

  • Hahaha.. he remainds me Jack Sparrow too!

  • hahaha kind of XD

  • i got drunk.

    put this song on.

    and tried to walk home.

my only regret is that i didnt sing it out loud.

I didnt reach home on foot whatever, but everytime i get drunk from now on i will listen to this song.

    Cheers Darlin.

and after this u have to listen to Prague.

  • i second that

  • its like watching a play

  • this is hilarious!!!

  • this was the first song of Damien, that I've heard. after hearing this song, I wanted more and more...:)

  • I think he could of been a great actor!

  • hes pissed.

  • So?

  • Hahahaha,that was funny!

  • who can help to tranlate the story in words over here so that i could read it?

    thanks! damien rock!

  • he has this lovely irish accent *grin*

  • hmm...i think it is...

  • is that glen hansard with the guitar?

  • yeah that's glen, you can tell by the hole in the guitar

  • yea..what's glenny doing here??? anyhoo, it would've been great if they sang together

  • ahaha, i din realize until u mention it.lol

  • lolz... fuku7 if u din told me....i will nvr knw... well.. this is a nice song....

  • my fave damien rice song. saw him live at acl.

  • this song inspired me to write the fanfic i'm most proud of

  • Hoooo Damien you are so fucking great.

  • 1:09 to 1:15 way to be :)

  • regarding the "drunk" discussion:

try drinking half a bottle of wine in 3 minutes and tell me alcohol didn't have any influence on you... bare in mind that he was doing a gig for a few hours already and therefore was hungry, exhausted and (that's probably difficult to grasp if you've never been on stage and even more difficult to explain) it influences your nervious system, to keep it short... he IS acting a bit, but i think he is slightly drunk, at least forgetting the lyrics wasn't intentional

  • that was entertaining, was that glen hansard in the back ground?

  • I think so

  • He told the exact same story at Nottingham last year... Dawnph, I don't know if he was drunk there but in Nottingham he finished off two bottles of red wine during the set!

  • hw do u no it ws wine?

  • It was red and in a wine bottle. That or he was pretending to be a bit rock and roll with ribena. Given that guy's love history he has every right to be an alchy!

  • Was this at Nottingham in last year or does he aways tell this story?

  • he is not drunk!!

he is pretending like he is drunk because the man in the song is drunk because of his lover's wedding??right?

  • I think ur ryt!!

  • This looks so much fun! The drunkenness certainly adds something to the song.

  • lol...awesome. drink and still have fun, fucking amazing.

  • i fancy this man

  • oops sorry i meant to add a thumbs up on ur comment :P :)

  • Haha that man is drunk out of his mind but he can still give a great performance.

  • no es romendable tomar antes de cantar porque pierdes manejo sobre tus pliegues vocales y los puedes atrofiar.........

  • i love this video soooo much that I...

    dont know

    i'm drunjk

    cheers, my lisa

  • was he really wasted?it fits..love it

  • daqmien rice o melhor

  • he was off his face

  • excelente!

    esse vídeo é foda.

  • Im with ya Stickman! Crazy Irish! And its amazing how shes able to keep her poise and still have the voice of an angel through it all!lol

  • fucking irish...I LOVE IT!

  • I love this song I LOVE DAMIEN RICE he rocks

  • i love it how he smashes the

wine glass on the ground at the end.

    look close

  • Aw, he did this in San Diego too. I want to see him again.

  • I saw Damien in his home Ireland, it was amazing because he felt at home and the whole crouder was amazing with him. The thing made this concert better is because i was there with my friend Palito and Candice. Dublin august 25th

2007. A big hug from Sergio

  • describing "Cheers Darlin" as 'beautiful' is an understatement. i saw Damien in concert the other night at the Greek, and it was the best concert i'd ever seen. he performed "Cheers Darlin" at the very end. An awesome finale.

  • yes, i was there at his concert in LA too. the theatrical finale was awesome! and even the whisper at the end, "fuckin bitch" lol... damien talked to the audience as if we were all old friends. he's great. the performances were powerful. woooH!

  • haha i didn't know he was irish...i could've seen him in live..but i had an ***** exam *AAAH* :(

  • I don't know what's more priceless; someone commenting on fake snow and then showing their complete lack of intelligence by posting not one, but two stereotypes about the Irish? Sad, really sad. Damien Rice is a great artist.

  • I saw him i concert and he did this song. Either he was totally wasted or he is a good pretender. He was drinkin glass after glass of wine pretty fast though during that song, so he is probably wasted. It was completely amazing though

  • he looks sooo wasted

  • i always wanted to know what damien and lisa's story was.

maybe it was that, the cheers darlin.

    but i doubt it,

i think damien had a thing for lisa, but she didn't like him,

or maybe they were together but they aren't anymore.

They should be together. They compliment each other perfectly. Just like Glen and Marketa.

  • wow .. just wow .. clearly favourite signer

  • I believe that is Opus One he s drinking. Not a bad wine at all!

  • I saw Damien in concert a few days back and when he did this song they made it snow on him at the end while he stood under a mock street lamp- it was priceless!

  • My GOD that was great! Thank you.

  • Fuckin claaaaaass!

    Wish you wer der danielle

  • cheers dahlin

  • Oh my gosh !!!! Lisa and Damien in each others arms... Lisa drinkin' Damien glass of wine... So... romantic...

  • he was quality in marlay park! love this song <3

  • i really wanna see him in marly park :(

  • omg i can't wait to see him in concert in september!!

  • His performance and the song, it's lyrics are really great.

All I could say: It's damien rice!

  • He usually does this song pretending to be wasted, fits right in with the song. Amazing performer, great song... one of the true musicians out there.

  • CHINchin!! LOVE Rice

  • The words to this song are genius yet simple. He perfectly captures so many emotions in this song it is unbelievable. I wish he would have made a video for it because it has boundless potential.

  • CHEERS!

  • you drunk irish m*therf*cker - we love you, damien

  • 1-one of my all time favourite artists, one of my all time favourite songs

2-totally wasted, see lisa drinking from his glass so that he wouldn't drink

3-the story he tells sounds untrue to me, there's to much soul and sorrow in this song to be that lame story

  • can you explain me the "point" number 2 ?

  • no I cannot, because I was wrong :P but the other ones I still mantain
