I saw your blog and I am looking for a 1958 Pontiac convertible myself. I suggest for paint a burgandy with a cream color for the sides! You don't have to stick to stock. Paint the car the color you like. I will be following your blog! Also ... I hope your dad is fealing better.
@yankeessm1 Thanks for your comment. I am going to hold on to the paint job that it is in at the moment and drive it next season. It is still very shiny and i like the colour enough for now, but as you say, i will be probably spraying it the year after in colour that i like, but still trying as close to an original paint as possible.
My dad is doing a lot better at the moment and is helping me out as much as he can do. Really appreciate your comment! Thanks!
Is your Pontiac a GM 50th anniversary edition? Looks to be because of the special gold paint. If so, there should be a gold emblem on the trunk lid saying "Forward from Fifty".Please post pix of your beautiful Star Chief Catalina as it comes along, especially when it's done. Should be a knockout!!!
It was sprayed Gold by a previous owner. Still not sure what colour to pick, but i am thinking about dark brown or a sort of gold like it is now. Dont like the red it has now. You can always visit my blog for updates at pontiac1958starchief.blogspot.com
@280sec Your '58 Poncho will be a real pain in the ass when completed! Why?Because you'll have to play twenty questions every time you stop for gas!LOL!!! I have a one owner '64 Grand Prix and I go through that all the time.Keep it stock, man.Pontiac had a geat range of colours in '58 including special ones for Star Chief and Bonneville. One of my favs is Redwood Copper/Patina Ivory in the bodysides and roof. If you will, check The Auto Color Library for actual chip charts."TOCMP" is great, too.
@Mrtriumphchopper True, i agree. I like it just stock aswell. I am looking to take a colour as original as possible. But it has to be a warm colour. Where the car came from, they had loads hot weather. Over here only in the summer we have some hot weeks, but the rest of the year it is not warm at all. Thanks for the info. I am going to check it out. All info is welcome, really appreciate it !
Thanks! If you like, i can get you into contact with someone who has a really rear Pontiac 1958 4 dr HT Laurentian project for sale in Lloydminster Canada. Very cheap!
Is the paint original or an older paint restoration? It not, I looks terrible.
