That is pretty funny, my blue quaker loves fishing for coins, bottle caps, banging his toys on the bars of his cage. Does he also do this high pitched shrill that sends shivers down your spine?
He reminds me of our quaker, Peeka. Love the bathtime part. Peeka also does that head bobbing thing when he's eating something and he makes that really loud sound when he's excited or wants you to back off.
@erra404 Buddy, there is NOTHING like these birds. Imagine an angel in green, grey, blue feathers, big grey eyes, a little yellow beak, constant goofiness, and never-ending love and you can imagine a Quaker Parrot.
3. Most of all your subject matter was interesting and really adorable. You are blessed to be able to have such a wonderful pet and a fabulous family to all chip in on the project!!!!
I was wondering if it really makes a difference if you have only one Quaker or two? Are they really social parrots and want a "playmate" or are they ok by their selves?
I am considering buying a Quaker so any information would be greatly appreciated!
i have only one quaker and two other birds that dont get along with anyone! and she is content being alone but she will try to get your attention and hogg your time, but its so worth it my quaker is a pain in the butt , but shes also alot of fun, ive become the bird lady ;p
I have heard that if you have two quakers they will be less social, and play more with each other. I'm not sure though, ever way i'm sure they'll be happy.
Looks like your blue buddy is also a builder. I suggest offering him some straws or Popsicle sticks to try to build with. Builders will know what to do with them if they want to build. And it looks like the perfect cage to build in.
I do have a green conure he is not loud only if i am around and dont paying attention to him, he is the cuttes thing but he really really got temper.. dont like visits or strangers :(
I think i have a faboulus quaker because mine is quiet! I have 4 other parrots and I can say that my conures are really really loud but not my quaker, he talk or ''give kiss'' , it's really rare to ear him scream
That's one cute and sweet bird you have there. :) I loved watching this. But please take note, newspaper is a bad idea because the ink is toxic to birds.
Actually, it's the other way around. Generally, as long as the newspaper does not have colored ink on it (black & white newspaper is fine), then you can go ahead and use it.
But corn cob on the other hand, is a harbinger of bacteria and mold (once it becomes moist or wet).
aw blues is so cute! i hav a green quaker parrot...urgh but mines HATES bathtime! how can i make her like it?? she flies outof the sink lol. anyways nice vid. ♥
i used to have to do that too but now he flies to the sink whenever he wants a bath. Then all i have to do is put a bowl there and turn the water on and he'll jump right in
very cute!! i have a green one and she does a lot of the same things. wait until they learn the one scwak that is neverending! it just keeps going and going... mine does it when she wants me to come and let her out of her cage.
very nice quaker! i might be getting one soon for my bithday i love birds this would be my first one i have had dogs and rodents but never birds so i wanna give a quaker a try xD
Lima beans are not poisonous. Ask him again, maybe you got it confused with cocoa beans? I feed myself and the birds lima beans on a regular basis. We luv em :). I promise they are not harmful. Google lima beans, they are beneficial :)
1-dirty coins are better than clean ones, the dirt covers the surface of the metal, and blue here is only tossing the coins, he isn't licking or eating them. Also how dare you hide the one he is after ;D 2-my boy loves OJ too! 3-any lid, any surface means quaker hockey! 4- big mouth? nah, just letting you know this is MINE! 5- of course, he is a genious 6- no, as I said, they are MINE! 7- loose the bowl, I need the sink. 8- Listen to my wisdom! 9- Mine. 10- Yum!
and yeah, it's true, birds shouldn't be allowed to play with change because it's too dirty. maybe if you washed a bunch of nickels and dimes he could play with those? and about the orange juice, it's ok to give them FRESH fruit, like grapes and stuff sometimes, but orange juice like that is too acidic for their itty bitty tummies. :p
ryan, are you related to me? my grandma's maiden name was Adler! Bella (Bunny) Adler! Her dad's name was George. it's not a very common name so I was wondering?
Not trying to sound rude but I would not let him touch those pennies as they look pretty old and rusty so that could make your bird very sick maybe even killing it, plus money is dirty from so many people touching it through the years. Orange juice is another bad thing for your parrot if you give it too much because it contains allot of acid.
Otherwise great looking quaker and very adorable!
I'm sure you take the best care of your beautiful blue quaker, not telling you to stop what you do just trying to warn/advise you so Blues lives many years in your care and love.
Blues really are NOT that rare, yo can pick one up hand fed for around $400.00. I breed both the greens, blues, blue split cinnamon, and the blue ice and all are under $600.00 each, so a blue is not rare anymore at all.
Awesome, l'm thinking about getting one of my own in the next few years - do you have to spend a LOT of time with him? Or is before and after school enough time?
My Quaker, Walter, started yelling at me from the other room when I was playing this video. So I brought him in here to show it to him...he is absolutely fascinated with Blues! He wants to watch it over and over again. Maybe he will get you onto the "most viewed" list, lol. He also said "Hello Walter!" when you were saying "hello". : ) Quakers ROCK!

jblilbear 2 years ago
Do you mean on the bottom of his cage?
nhn2n 2 years ago
Yes. And Quakers are nesting birds so they pick at stuff like that all the time. It's not expensive, but corn cob is a much safer product to use.
jblilbear 2 years ago
Actually, it's the other way around. Generally, as long as the newspaper does not have colored ink on it (black & white newspaper is fine), then you can go ahead and use it.
But corn cob on the other hand, is a harbinger of bacteria and mold (once it becomes moist or wet).
