I've heard from many that most of those raedons lately have been dying (mainly because they cook/boil themselves). So you aren't the only one with this problem. Also, use your product warranty instead. These big companies don't know anything or just don't care.
Why is everyone hating on this guy, you don't even know him. He is simply making a tutorial for all of our viewing pleasure and possibly a tutorial for building a system of your own.
Wow if this is your natural hair then I'm Jealous! Oh Btw you remind me of the grown up version of Near from Death Note :3..I'm building my first DIY gaming pc right now and your videos helps a lot..RIP to your graphic card.
@forge229 You sorry-ass discriminating bastard! You must really enjoy displaying your ignorance! I bet your mother seriously regrets giving birth to your defective ass. I know I'm greatly lowering myself to your level, but I can't resist. You must have been dealt a really shitty and unfortunate hand in life that you have to resort to posting such comments to pacify your racial bigotry!
@ItsMyNaturalColour lol :)) no. btw i wanted to ask, a GTX 460 gigabyte is good for gaming? i just got it and dont wanna unwrap it until i know its good for games such as CRYSIS warhead.
Awesome hair! Now that thats out of the way, I feel your pain. My prebuilt pc kicked the bucket after just one month of use. I sent it back within 3 days and got an email a few days later from their "experienced technicians" claiming a load of bull.. Anywho, I decided to go with building my own pc.. waiting on the parts still. Should be here Monday.. Ive been without a solid pc for a month D: Ive been using a netbook.. sad day. hah.
@feubarkada what the fuck do you think? obviously you are saving 400-500 pounds on labour which u can spend on better parts...and it ain't rocket science...I checked online, the PC I want would cost 1500 to buy, 1000 to build myself
Try installing an older driver, like the one from the CD for example. Also, reseat the graphics card, and make sure your bios is set to use the PCI graphics and not the onboard graphics on first boot (they can conflict with each other, my onboard ATI 4250 is a complete ass to my XFX Radeon 5770, which is the same graphics card as yours).
I've had some troubles with 3D graphical glitches with my card lately, part of the screen will go black but the 2D items will still be there.
Poor you ):. When I first booted my new PC it short circuited, and brought down the power circuit for my room, at first i thought it was my own fault, so if there would be any damage, the warranty would not kick in. But a guy from the local PC store said everything was connected properly ;p, so now I at least can claim the warranty when I have damage, :3
In my opinion, The first boot should have been without the Radeon Card as you have an on board graphics card. You have to let the onboard hardware install correctly first then install the Radeon Drivers, and then insert the Radeon Card. I think this is why things went bad for you. Unlucky! I hope you sort it out soon and post another video about it.
@marcusarelius23 I'm afraid your wrong man... I don't have onboard video on this mobo, and if I did, I'd jump straight into the BIOS and disable it right away so that Windows didn't install 2 sets of video drivers (for the integrated and dedicated.) Thanks for the help though.
A friend's HP DV6500's video card went out on it. I wanted to make a video but when I did the video was sideways so I gave up lol I hope you get your computer up and running.
I get the same problem on my 27" iMac when I boot in to Windows 7 in boot camp. It's really annoying and a cooling issue so I can't do anything about it, just wondering but could it be the same issue with yours, over-heating?. Hope you get it sorted soon!.
@viralfunnies It's relevant because there is two different screen sizes. 27", 21.5". I'm not showing off, I was simply specifying which Mac I have. Typical PC user flaming Mac users, what is it next, Mac's are overpriced?. Grow up.
@ezrawwedp MACs ARE overpriced...there really is no debate..oh wait..they look good...you know history has taught us a lot about people who look at the shiny surface and don't consider the inner qualities..whatever ur 2000 dollar MAC can do, my 500 dollar PC can do better
@viralfunnies So you can run Final Cut and Logic Pro?. I'm not getting in to a debate, it's personal preference. You like PC, I like Mac. A Mac happens to be a better choice for me and what I do. Don't make uneducated opinions.
@viralfunnies A lot of people use Mac's for their profession actually, music producers, graphic designers, film editors etc. I didn't get a Mac to game either, so the '10' games doesn't come in to my choice of owning a Mac.
That sucks! Atleast you can still use the in built graphics on the motherboard (if it has that) to set up the machine and customize it all to how you like so you only have to put in the new graphics card when it comes and that's it :)
This same thing happened to my ati radeon 5770 when I put it in my mac pro, I fixed it by letting the machine run 24/7 with the graphics card in for 3 days.
Tom, I had a similar-looking problem with a card too. It was in my mom's laptop, and she'd never turn it off, and ended up burning the card out. It had the same reaction. So it might be an overheat problem instead of the card itself. Who knows? Maybe I'm completely wrong!
Man that sucks. Shit happens. Every once in awhile you're going to run into a bad video card right out of the box. It's rare but it happens. Well hopefully it works out for you to get an HD6870 instead!
If you try running a different driver do you still have these Problems? It's most likely a hardware problem, but there is a chance the Driver is really bad and playing nice with your system. Roll back your Driver.
ahh gutted when i was building my pc i changed the casing on my graphics card had it rested on atable while unscrewing and snapped off a tiny resistor and lost it !! so annoyed !
I had a quite similar problem with my 8800 GT from XFX. It wasn't that bad because the card was preoverclocked and so I turned down the memory clockspeed and nearly everything was ok and this problem never occurred on my desktop so I only had problems when the VRAM was under heavy load. The only games I still couldn't play were Assassins Creed and Test Drive Unlimited.
Ouch, very unlucky. Hope you can get your money back for the card.

Damn, I hope you have no problems returning the card :/
On the plus side, the 6870 is a much better card overall, closer to 5870 fps with better tessellation performance.

yeah! 6870 is an awesome card! i've installed one of those in a friends computer. Sorry to hear your card has died; that build was going so well! 1 thing to check when you install your next card, is the PCIE cable on your moduler power supply. Make sure you're using one of the 6 pin only cables, not a 6+2 pin. Just something to be aware of. You should make a mess-ups video... include the squash on the desk incident... would love to see that.
