Very inspiration video! Hats off to the producer of this piece, it is truly a work of art. And great rendition of You Raise Me Up, also sung by Josh Groban..a beautiful song, We Are Marshall is a tribute to the 1970 Marshall University football team, fans, coaches, and the memory of those who lost their life on that cold, rainy November night. Although it is a terribly sad and tragic story, it is a testament to the human spirit and to the town of Huntington who stands behind their team!
Ruffin had leukemia and colon cancer. Here, watch this video of him reading a letter to his fallen teammates on the 30th anniversary of the plane crash. He would finally be reunited with them just a few months later.
This movie is absolutely great, really good, amazing I LOVE IT. I had to cry all the way, but at the end I was just as happy as the town when they won, it is soo inspiring. The whole town is crushed, they're all together, it''s a beautiful image to see. I wish I had that in my town. What a beauty, Thumbs up for Mister McConaughey; he really did great job, something to be proud of.
I miss Huntington. My sister gave me this movie as a graduation present and my eyes teared up. Not only in sadness of losing the football team, but because, for me, Marshall is in my past and I will never forget it.
after watching this I want to watch this movie my own town Manchester suffered a tradgedy on 6/02/1958 in Munich Germany when 8 of the famous busby babes lost their lives
it is almost impossible to not tear up watching this! So deep and intense! WE ARE...MARSHALL! You know what, over the past few years, Marshall has been down, but when you want to stop cheering them on, just watch this and you remember why you cheer for the Herd!
i really feel sorry for what happened years ago at marshall university .... this movie really touched my heart .. once i saw the movie at my skool .. i was crying lyk a baby ... this is really sad .. all those inocent people who died on that plane ... may god b with them guideing them in heaven and may they R.I.P ..... this song is beautiful by the words it says ... it reminds me of some of my realatives who have moved on and went to heaven ... ... really touching video ... beautiful ... sad :(
This is my favorite sports movie of all time. Hands down. This video tribute has brought a 35 year-old man to tears, just as Anthony Mackie did (my new favorite actor) in the "my shoulder is fine" scene in the film.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go wash my face. :'-)
i'm a Putnam Co guy, 25 mins from the stadium. I remeber the 70's,too young to really understand when the crash happened, but I know it was horrible. Got into football soon after (migdet) and though my name says one thing, I've been to Fairfield and JFE Field many more times than morgantown. luv ya Herd !! and god luck DOC !!
those guys... wonderfull.....brave...and young.... were very strong living their dreams...... always wanting to be a stron winning team....... untill that night came......were almost home/there..... thenthe bad moment came .... they all passed away but will always remain in our hearts may they rest in peace.......but still "we are marshall" may we remember them forever and keep em in our hearts ....... remember marshall we are marshall !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this video is great its very sad it made me cry so much the movie even made me cry more.u know this makes u think so much of each and every person who died on that plane "we are marshall" those young men who died will always remain in our hearts forever and ever they'll be at every one and single marshall game.those young guys never gave up they always wanted the be a strong and winning team.. as i said "we are marshall"
hey ive been looking every where, at the begining of the movie, there is a voice over "there is a town, there is a school, a fountain ect." and i want to know that quote word for word cuz i love it but i can find it, can you tell me? I absolutly love this movie, perfect song for it tooo. Beautiful video
This is great! Excellent job! I have watched this movie so many times I've lost count. If people come to Huntington today they will still feel the same pride and excitement in the fans and players of Marshall University. We Are Marshall!
This movie made me cry. So did this video. The song mainly. After my great-grandmother's funeral, while driving in the preciesion to the graveyard this song was on the radio. I can't imagine what the real people portraied in this film went through. May God always bless them. Great video.
You did a really good job with. This is such a sad thing, i wish that it didn't really happen in real life. This makes me so afraid of planes!!!!! Good Job!!!!!!!
This is my favorite movie, i have seen it like 10 times. Im watching it as i write this too. But while they are burying people they bury Susan Griffen, who is that?
Susan Griffen was Chris Griffen's mother-in the movie she was already deceased, he was being buried beside his mother. The Griffen's are composite characters, their story is that of several people/families that lost loved ones that night.

It is sooo hard to see her pain through her eyes everyday it is a constant reminder to treasure everyday... Thanks for all the support!!!! Love you all and God Bless!!
I recall sitting in my dads pickup when I was a teenager and him telling me this story of Marshall, and well now well I have come to realize the many things in life, this movie is very inspirational and emotional, comes from the heart
This movie is beautiful, it has such heart and courage in every single player in the Marshall team. It was horrible what happened but the way this community picked themselves back up and the new team played for the 75 people that died on that plane is just inspirational.
Lashley,I like to start by saying that on 11/14/70 there was a plane crash not a plain crash. The next thing I'd like to say is that I hope your mother, father, aunts, uncles and for the rest of your family's sake they never ever have read the things you have written on this comment page.I am absolutly sure they would be embarrassed.I'm sure you're not very old because an adult would be more intelligent and respectful.Maybe the 7 in your screen name is your age.If we suck so much, why are you here?
All and by the way MARSHALL won 114 games in the 90`s, more than any other team in college football history in a ten year span!!!! Not to damn sucky !!!!!!!!!!
Leastly 77 you are about as low as one can get! You not only disrespect the team and school but the 75 who died and their many family members whom also include the tens of thousand MARSHALL fans who have supported this team in the bad and good times and our bad times are as bad as they can get i.e. what this movie was about! I hope you get the pleasure to run into a family member of the plane crash victoms some day and they put you in your well deserved spot.
I love this Movie! Both of my parents went to Marshall when the plane crashed! I've known about the crash my whole life and i love it that other people do now too! My Dads best friend to this day, scored the first touchdown after crash, Go TOM!! Some of the movie was filmed in Hunningtion you should check the town out! The begining of the movie is the real modern huningtion!
THis is the greatest movie of all time. It makes me cry every time i watch it. And what the fuck is your problem Lashley 77? Show some respect seriousy. Their whole team died and all you can say is they suck. SHOW SOME RESPECT. That is the saddest thing i have ever heard happen to a town.
I agree with Lashley77, they did get into a plane crash.
But they don't suck, Lashley77.
i am going to give you a fact, it happened in real life, an american football team where coming home from their match, the weather was bad, and all of a sudden BANG, the plane crashed.
75 American Footballers died, in that plane crash.
fuckers can say what you want, but did i say one thing that wasnt true? yes they do suck, yes they do get into a plane crash, and yes they do suck again
You disrepectful cunt, DO NOT post your worthless shit on my video mmk?
That fact that you lack any self control from stopping your fingers to type out rude comments towards others and people who died is ABSOLUTELY pathetic.
Lashley, you're heartless, i hope you never have to experience anything like this because only then will you understand. this is my favorite movie of all time...and yes, from loss comes strength. i lost a teammate of mine last year to a terrific car crash...it hit our whole town hard. this movie reminds me of the pain we all went through...i can't even imagine how their town felt losing a whole team. Great job on the tribute JuicybutCouture, God bless!
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger but no one needs to experience something like this tragedy. This would gut most people and nearly did the whole town. Jack Lingale saw something and offered to help. Life is for the living and death's for the dead, had Huntington not rebuilt the team and turned the tragedy into a positive I think the hurt and pain would have tainted everything in the future. Huntington is to be admired and commended. To the 75 lost, Rest In Peace.
My Dad is 83 years young, and this is his alma mater. I took him to see this movie when it came out in theaters. Not a dry eye in the house. Still can't watch without tears.
I'm from WV and I live in Huntington. I was so proud that this story was told. Our town and state will never fully heal from the loss of those on that fateful night, but this film has played a part in our healing and I couldn't be prouder of the job that was done. It was beautiful and emotional and I am thankful for all the tributes posted. We are... Marshall!!
I live very close to where this crash happened, I'm in Ashland, Kentucky. I've seen the fountain and the whole story of how this happened makes me feel very emotional as does this movie. A great film and I truly love it. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for making this video. You have no idea how much it means. I live in West Virginia, so watching We Are Marshall was very sd for me. And seeing so many tributes to it is simpky amazing.
Thank you so much for making a tribute to the movie. :) It was a good vid. I loved how the characters were remembering their loved ones. Great job. ^-^

In the middle of Huntington WV there is a river.
Next to this river there is a steel mill
And next to this steel mill there is a school
In the middle of this school there is a fountain
Each year on the exact day, at the exact same hour the water to this fountain is turned off
And in this moment once every year throughout the town, throughout the school time stands still.

My Dad is 83 years young, and this is his alma mater. I took him to see this movie when it came out in theaters. Not a dry eye in the house. Still can't watch without tears.

What a truly sad incident. I must look for this at the video store and hope that it has been released in Australia. A good cast in the movie too.
