I remember hearing that in the early days of Woody Woodpecker in the 1940's (I believe) Mel Blanc briefly did the voice of Woody Woodpecker. before WB signed him to do the voices of Bugs Bunny and company.

@Astraldragon1 You may be right on that one. I have been told that Woody's voice was done by Walter Lantz's wife, Grace, at one time (just as Walt Disney did the voice of Mickey Mouse in the early days). Mel Blanc was- in his lifetime- the voice of just about anything/anyone, so it IS possible.

There is a DVD of Woody Woodpecker at Amazon. It was released about a month ago? I hadn't ordered it but i plan on doing so shortly. I'm not a technical person so i don't get into the intricate details over cartoons with regards to the transfer of cartoons onto DVD as some can be...but as far as i know, the Woody Woodpecker DVD at Amazon is a first-rate collection.
