@irokatcod4 Tracers, methinks. That glow comes from phosphorus attached to the projectile, if I remember correctly. Normal bullets don't have that and travel too fast to really see.

Of course I could be wrong, my experience doesn't cover autocannons.

In an infantry context this is done so; A) the enemy is not shooting at you B)you can flank the enemy, providing the angle needed to kill them. Generally speaking they don't maneuver on the enemy like that. It is highly risky, instead they suppress them long enough to drop a bomb.
