one thing you didn't cover was a rear choke. yeah its a "what if" but it seems like to me probably the top one or two ways a person would be grabbed. If they're pulling you backwards hard it can be difficult to reach the groin or the face/eyes ... or am I wrong
I dont disagree with you.. But the way we train it is the EXACT same!.. If they are close enough to grab you then you are close enough to grab them! there is always a counter fr everything. I could go on and on but I think I might just do a video. I have seen attacks from behind but never the classic (always demonstrated) two handed 'rear choke' sleeper holds; yes of course, even had them put on my by cockheads trying to test me on the door.
It would be great to see you do a vid on rear chokes. agree you rarely see perfect "jui jitsu" rear naked chokes on the street, but even the sloppier stuff can be dangerous if you don't see it coming from behind. There was a news vid of a guy being choked out in a hungry jacks here recently. you get pulled back, lose yr feet/balance, and it can be very hard to find the guy's face or balls in time once he's got your back. Wd like to see yr take. cheers
I'll see what I can do at training this weekend ;-) In my opinion if you panic; you can't do shit! It's most likely that the guy in HJ's panic and was caught off guard. Again, simuation training helps alot to deal with stress and randomness and kick into survival mode/responding accordingly. Every night I bounce or am on assignment (protection) I go into survival mode when I walk out my front door. That's the only reason im still here. Food for thought ;-) I'll get back to you when I can. Cheers
Beaut! That would be wicked if you get around to it. I've been taught different things from different teachers-some say sink yr weight then work-some say lift/resist and turn-different ideas about using yr hands etc etc. obviously everything depends on the circumstances (and as you say the best path is to be aware enough that you don't get surprised enuf for someone to sink a choke in) but def wd love to hear yr take if it happens, esp as you're about my size :) cheers
Mate, I'll be honest.. We didnt do it. I would like to covr it for you... So I'll see how I go in my tuesday night class. I asked everyone (besides the typical 'self defense' demos) have you ever seen a bear hug or 'rear naked choke' other than WWE or UFC (some shit on TV).. They all said no and then didnt show much interest in practising 'defenses' against them.. I showed a choke 'defense' andI will post that for you.. but not sure how it looks yet.. I'll check the footage...stay tuned ;-)
Great point. Folks you survive an attack, you win a fight. (UFC,Boxing,Karate) are in a controled enviroment FIGHTS! Now in the streets they are ATTACKS!!! You hear in the news " A man survied a bear attack" not he won a fight with a bear. You do what you got to do to go home and live another day. Make it happen anyway you can.
BAHHAHA.. "WHAT IF, YOU BE ASSERTIVE" lol.... bhahaha.. thats the way I feel, what if what if.. shut up and hit him, you coulda done hit a person several times before you decide on what move you wanna do.. lol
AWSOME to see some one post a no bs video . my grand father was a bare nuckle boxer in the 20's . i asked him years before he passed away . "gramp what should i do in a fight" HIS response" Win"
enjoyed the video, good stuff. As to height and reach? My girlfriend was attacked a month ago by a guy. She threw him before ho could think of his next move. He was 6'2" and she's 4'9". The difference being she has the instinctive reactions and follow through needed to win. And no, it wasn't part of a show. It was for real. A greek soldier once complained that he couldn't reach the enemy as he was short. a spartan woman told him, take another step
I see too much Fancy shit that will get a person skull cracked open being taught.
And As to being short. all it takes is knowing how to use your body weight to cause the other person damage. ( i am only 5'8) . so if you have to ask stupid questions it means you are not doing enough training on the important things.
What if we're not a whole foot taller and bigger, with a superior reach than your opponent like you are? I would not imagine that first technique working for the most of us. What then?
I was just waiting for this comment! I knew it would come! I just knew it! Then you need to do the SAME THING! Dont piss around, be assertive, and aggresive! If you shuffle in you can compensate your reach! But seriously, 95% of people I have had to deal with aren't my size! Im not a big guy but it seems that in gerneral little fellas tend to have small man syndrome and wanna prove theselves... shit, do I have to say this in Ever video now do I? Watch the ones where the guy has 30kgs on me then!
I like the direction you took this Video, in my opinion a fight comes down to who is willing to initiate and follow through. The biggest hurdle that people need to overcome to win a fight is getting the killer instinct, most people don't have it naturally but have to learn to embrace it. Good shit
I love watching your videos, But in the end i think im gonna do just enough damage to make sure my foe doesnt follow me as i beat a h quick retreat or get my gun from the car if he decides to purse it any further. And yes i fight as dirty as hell and probaly use anything weapons sticks stones various weakness i learned about in the human body . Im not above using any simple low down or dirty trick to stay alive
very nice. i agree. you should have a mindset that you will "kill" him because you might be the one who will be killed. thanks for uploading this on youtube =)
every honor for this video, straight and true! ;)

Good stuff my friend...finally, someone who get's it. All that fancy horseshit only works against overly cooperative "partners". Well done. ;)
