  • Great song ... Robin Trower does it right

  • I HAVED LISTEN ED OVER AND OVER AND I CANT STOP THE TEARS.BEAUTIFUL!

  • Rod...eat your heart out, just listen to a real scot sing it

  • thats ones bad assed guitarist, only second to jimi, but they had different styles so both are DAMMMED GOOD

  • like the spirits which bear his name, Dewar goes down smooth--

  • this is one great song, I love it/wynn richardson

  • The best song ever written! Robin just gave it his touch. There ain't no better version. Rod did it but don't compare to Robins!

  • This song was originally written and sung by Gavin Sutherland of the The Sutherland Brothers and Quiver. Its on their "LIfeboat" LP

  • My God that beautiful guitar, and that amazingly beautiful, soulful voice. We'll never have that combination again! James's voice is so beautiful, it makes me want to cry! Kids growing up now really don't what truly good music is! Glad I'm an old fart who grew up in rock's heyday!

  • Much better than Rod Stewart's version IMO!

  • My absolute favorite cover of "Sailing"--Robin Trower is underrated---some sweet blues/rock!

  • James Dewar was an angel sent to us for a short time. Probably the best voice in Rock, bar none.

  • My Marine engineer buddy ziggy owned the Island reef bar it St. T. The first english he learned was this song which we would sing at the top of our lungs after a few beers.....

  • awesome classic blues!!

  • beautifully soulful vocals with a great guitar sound....a superb piece of music.

    awesome.

  • Can't Beat this true classic!!

  • Thanks many times for this post. "Sailed some stormy waters to be with ya, baby..." Great memories from hippiedom days and sailing out of Destin, Florida on Obeah.

  • Been a long time fan of this man since the early 70`s,seen him many times, got all the albums still got all the original concert tickets too...can you believe £1-60 to see Robin Trower all them years ago.

  • James Dewars (RIP) voice cannot be duplicated!! smooth and sweet music! thanks for da post

  • The all time favorite!!

  • So much better than Rod Stewarts! WE miss you Jimmy!!!

  • There are some vocalists that CANNOT be replaced. James Dewar was one of them.

  • to be near you to be free....

  • Stormy waters to be near you to be free!

  • Yet another great tune -- many thanks to T. Slinger for posting and J. Dewar for singing this song

  • We are sailing, arnt we all.

  • thanks man for putting this on Robin Trower is such an amazing guitar.

  • I'd forgotten long ago about this tune. Was it from "Long Misty Days"?

    Cheers, Frazzo.

  • I read James Dewars interview where he stated he did not really like to sing this song...

He sure does an awesome job though!!

RIP James Dewar, you are missed.

  • By far my most favorite Trower song...James was the only singer for Robin... just my opinion...I listened to Robin when I was a very young man thakx to my older brother and it saddned me immensely when James passed..I played this song over and over that night for hours and hours....thankx for posting this beautiful song.....Ray

  • Beautiful song. Lyrics are amazing.

    Thank you for posting.

  • One of Dewar's best vocals. He was the man along with Robin T.

  • i love this one..wow..i'm a musician and have even posted a couple of old trower covers..but i aint tochin this one..i dont think any one could do it the justice it deserves..so..i play it..but i play it in private only..8-}..thanks for posting this great oldy man awsome.!!

  • I wish more people would post positive comments such as this. I do not allow my children on You Tube without me or my better half standing over their shoulders.

  • Its a shame isn't it? There is so much sickness in this world.

  • Its scary! Our daughter had a classmate who started an online relationship with a guy she thought was her age,14. He wasn't as you guessed, he got her address and she even told him when she would be home alone and for how long. Fortunately for her he either got scared or whatever but he never showed. Couple more weeks went by before her Dad found out by reading an email she had left open on her netbook The creep is in jail awaiting trial, the young girl has monitored internet use now no private

  • What a beautiful song. Sooo.... soulful. One of my favorites.

  • I would put Trower and Dewar in the top song writers of all time, is there a more soulful white man on the planet? i THINK NOT..jab

  • You are absolutely correct. James will be missed.

  • powerful :easily the best version

  • very cool share thank you ;

  • awesome music awesome song just awesome!!!!!!

  • one hundred years from now james

dewar voice will still be light years

    above and beyond anyone elses.

we truely, deeply miss you jimmy

  • Amen and Amen.

  • You said it. What a true original voice. He will be missed.

  • Rod Stewart is a good version Robin's is great!

Which album is this song on? Can't find it on iTunes.

I love Long Misty Days and RIP James D. The Best

    So great.

  • Trower's guitar and Dewar's voice were a match made in rock-n-roll heaven. R.I.P. Jimmy Dewar!

  • One of the best and underrated R&B bands of all time. No one will ever have that depth or match those vocals. Bronze can't hold a candle, let alone his bed pan. Dewar you will surely be missed.

  • Thanks for posting. Who cares what the guys look like, listen to the music. If four baboons and a bald warthog played this good, I wouldn't care. Enjoy!

  • That's the best song in my opinion. One minus though, horrible picture. They look soooo ugly on it.

  • how can you even tell, quality is low.

  • Thank God good looks aren't a prerequisite for rock n roll otherwise, we'd be left to Huey Lewis banality.

  • @machination2 blue bird

  • Such a great song!!!

  • Dewar best singer ever?

  • Thanks for posting this man, haven't heard this one for so long. Dewar is the man!!

  • hell yeah!
