@ElNegro1337 ikaruga is incredible, i have an xbox 360 and a few games (bayonetta rules too lol) but all i really play is ikaruga on live! amazing to have it play at such a high resolution after all these years.
@MrDeltaman3 no, that wasn't it at all. burning dreamcast games back then wasn't as easy as it seems today, a very small minority of dreamcast owners were doing it. it's complicated, but the main reason is because they released it too early. it didn't really fit in either the n64/ps1 era or the ps2/xbox/gc which made it unappealing. the huge success of ps2 didn't help. even gamecube had a hard time keeping up that generation, and they have first party gems coming out of their ears.

You can get a PS2 version of this game. It's quite good. I love the near-future setting and the TV segments and weird advertisements and stuff. Quite brilliant in some ways, if often cheesy. Driving the motorcycle and the objective-based training courses were great too. I love that sort of thing. One of my favorites.
to me, there are two problems that just REALLY drag this game down. The first it movement and the second is camera angles. WHY didn't they give this tank controllers and an over the shoulder camera? I know that sounds a lot like RE4, but it would of just really improved this game. Also, a free aim mode would have also really helped.

This game was delayed! unfortunately, and because dreamcast started to "fail" they released it before it was ready! the motorcycle controls and collisions was greatly flawed. but still it had incredible graphics (1or 2 years ahead of the curve).
it's a game like Driver, or GTA3 or Max Steel (a little bit) but takes place in the [depressing] future.

It was ported to PS2. As far as Dreamcast, I would like to see your NTSC North American version. According to all online sources it was not officially released outside of Europe, yet I too have it for my Dreamcast, it was download and burned to CD which plays fine on North American Dreamcast, I have seen these for sale complete with printed labels and jewel case inserts all printed on a color printer.
There is no NTSC version of this game, it's PAL only, but it had an auto detection feature to find whether you were on an NTSC or PAL television. Most PAL games have this type of feature, whether it's manual or automatic.
It was supposed to be. but due to being almost cencelled it became much less. Its stilla great game though. Well, it was super great back in those days.
It's not totally sandbox. You get to ride your motorcycle around the city but you can never get off it and you don't really do side missions - just the core stuff.

I still play Headhunter on my Dreamcast and love it. I actually think it still looks great and is one BIG thing that so many games forget to be these days - it's a really fun and enjoyable game to play.

Sega's god awful marketing killed the DC, I can't remember a system that had so many great titles in such a short life span, yet hardly anyone knew about them cause Sega did nothing to market it.

I never played God of War as I had long deserted the PS2 by the time that came out. I was never a Silent Hill fan, not even on the PS1. Its just a poor mans resident evil with poorly designed baddies (RE4 on cube kicked its ass!!). Devil May Cry was OK, Onimusha was better on xBox, I favoured Virtua Fighter over Tekken (Tekken too slow and clumsy) and Tenchu is just dreadful. I turned it off after around half hours of play and never went back to it. I still play my DC to this day!

Ive read you posts and alot of what you say is true, but graphics on a console means shit when it comes to games. I mean the PS3 in theory has better graphics than the xbox 360 yet the 360 has a better library of games. The games count, not the consoles and the PS2 HAD the games. Dreamcast, gamecube, xbox 1 may have had better graphics BUT PS2 owned em all with the library of games ten fold.
The Dreamcast was by far superior than the ps2, Sonic Aventure 2 has better graphics then Sonic heroes on ps2, but Sonic heroes on GC and XBox are on the same level has SA2 is some parts.
And sonic Adventure 2 even actually has some impresive textures and efects that theyre not possible on ps2, and Dreamcast can do (1:6) Texture Compresion and is some times (1:8), and ps2 don't do Texture Compresion, and Dreamcast has more RAM to it has 8 MB, and ps2 has onlly 4 MB RAM.
Deamcast though, (and i DID love my dreamcast back in the day when i had one) was my fav console at the time until PS2 and metal gear solid 2 came out which i adored the original game on the Ps1. Dreamcast did have shenmue and lots of neat and classical games including sonic and to me is the second best console ever made.
And the reason that the Shenmue 1 and 2 were not relesed on ps2, was because the ps2 were not capable of those Graphics, and thats the reason that games like DoA2,Crazy Taxy, Ecco the Dolphin, F335 Chalenge, Test Drive le Mans, look better on Dreamcast, and thats not because it was been a port, Shenmue 2 was been ported to XBox and the graphics of Shenmue 2 on XBox are the same and a bit better in some way than the Dreamcast version, and that means the ps2 was not capable the Dreamcast graphics.
And if the Dreamcast wasn't ended like that, right now the Dreamcast will be able to produce good graphics and even better graphics then ps2,games like Burnout 1, 2, 3 whold have better graphics on Dreamcast, games like SEGA GT, whold have better graphics then GT4, every thing because the Dreamcast can do the same nomber of polygons that the ps2 does and better textures, and yes games like RE4 on Dreamcast whold look closer to the GC version then the ps2 version.
Dreamcast is an awesome System, probably the best console ever made.
And yes the Dreamcast has better graphics the the PS2, the real problem was that the Dreamcast was relesed back in 1998 and in 1998 the graphics were difrent then the graphics back in 2001, and people didn't thinked on the true power of the dreamcast, and back in 2001 the Dreamcast was been disapear, and people wasn't able to produce good games for Dreamcast any more, and on 2002 people were tinking on revolucionary graphics.
If you look at the textures in a lot of Dreamcast games they are a lot sharper than some PS2 textures I've seen. I like the fact that a large proportion of popular Dreamcast titles like DOA2, RE:CV, Headhunter (probably not considered as popular as the aforementioned) and Grandia 2 just to name a few were ported onto the PS2, makes you think doesn't it. Headhunter is a classic though, with a soundtrack by Richard Jacques how couldn't it be?.

the dreamcast actually had more graphical power, it has better internal memories to, and ps2 do not do texture comprention, for exemple ps2 VRAM memory-4 MB and for textures-10 MB and no texture compresion, and now the Dreamcast VRAM memory-8 MB and textures-25 MB and Texture comprension, and for pollygons they're the same actually 7 milion poligons for ps2 and 7 milion poligons for the Dreamcast
Actually, the PS2 could pull off Anti-aliasing. However, developers had to program anti-aliasing into PS2 games themselves, unlike the Dreamcast which had anti-aliasing programed into the console itself (thus, all 3D Dreamcast games had anti-aliasing).
Anti-Aliasing is a graphics filter that smooths out the graphics of a 3D game to make it look less pixilated or jaggy. It does this by slightly blending different colors/objects together visually to make the image smoother.
Basically, in short, it makes a game look smoother and, overall, better.

Dreamcast can surely "hold" RE 4, be sure of that...Dreamcast grafix engine is better than PS2, because it was better designed, with better central chip. Also, it had double video RAM than the PS2, 8mbytes, also dc firstly had the anti-aliasing system installed, sega imported it later in PS2 by software and the rest of the companies copied the method, and the game that did that was....surprisingly Headhunter!
About GC, it is known that nintendo dropped an agreement with a known grafix company to install a chip that was the improvement of the dreamcast one, made in both occasions by NEC.
So as far as console power, the line is:
1.Game Cube
2.Dreamcast
3.PS2
X-BOX of course is an other story cause it is not a real console.
But DC is recognized as the most powerfull among experts, because it was launched 2 years before GC and it was mostly an experimental platform, for the next generation.

What the hell are you talking about? GC is clocked at almost 500 mhz, that's 150% more than the DC, and the PS2 is clocked at almost 300, the DC is only 200 mhz. Don't be a retard.

Thats because the PS2 sucks ass. With all of the 1000's of games released on the PS2 over the years, its still ended up with less classics and must have games than Dreamcast has in its catalogue. PS2 will fade away to nothing. Mass market crap. Dreamcast will live on forever :)

Nah mate, i love the dreamcast but the PS2 has games other consoles WISHES it had. The graphics may not be up to scratch like the regular xbox or gamecube BUT it had too many classics. I never played God of War as I had long deserted the PS2 by the time that came out. I was never a Silent Hill fan, not even on the PS1. Its just a poor mans resident evil with poorly designed baddies (RE4 on cube kicked its ass!!). Devil May Cry was OK, Onimusha was better on xBox, I favoured Virtua Fighter over Tekken (Tekken too slow and clumsy) and Tenchu is just dreadful. I turned it off after around half hours of play and never went back to it. I still play my DC to this day!

well, thats ur opninion, it least it had all of the games that were available on xbox despite the graphics plus its exclusives. you may dislike them games but most of those games went platinum and were a big success and ppl like me enjoyed them. Virtua Fighter and Tekken to me are both kick ass games and Tenchu wrath of heaven and fatal shadows werent dreadful, just not as good as 1 and 2. Shinobido was better cos it had the original developers and was more complex.

Ive read you posts and alot of what you say is true, but graphics on a console means shit when it comes to games. I mean the PS3 in theory has better graphics than the xbox 360 yet the 360 has a better library of games. The games count, not the consoles and the PS2 HAD the games. Dreamcast, gamecube, xbox 1 may have had better graphics BUT PS2 owned em all with the library of games ten fold.

The Dreamcast was by far superior than the ps2, Sonic Aventure 2 has better graphics then Sonic heroes on ps2, but Sonic heroes on GC and XBox are on the same level has SA2 is some parts.
And sonic Adventure 2 even actually has some impresive textures and efects that theyre not possible on ps2, and Dreamcast can do (1:6) Texture Compresion and is some times (1:8), and ps2 don't do Texture Compresion, and Dreamcast has more RAM to it has 8 MB, and ps2 has onlly 4 MB RAM.

Deamcast though, (and i DID love my dreamcast back in the day when i had one) was my fav console at the time until PS2 and metal gear solid 2 came out which i adored the original game on the Ps1. Dreamcast did have shenmue and lots of neat and classical games including sonic and to me is the second best console ever made.

And the reason that the Shenmue 1 and 2 were not relesed on ps2, was because the ps2 were not capable of those Graphics, and thats the reason that games like DoA2,Crazy Taxy, Ecco the Dolphin, F335 Chalenge, Test Drive le Mans, look better on Dreamcast, and thats not because it was been a port, Shenmue 2 was been ported to XBox and the graphics of Shenmue 2 on XBox are the same and a bit better in some way than the Dreamcast version, and that means the ps2 was not capable the Dreamcast graphics.

And if the Dreamcast wasn't ended like that, right now the Dreamcast will be able to produce good graphics and even better graphics then ps2,games like Burnout 1, 2, 3 whold have better graphics on Dreamcast, games like SEGA GT, whold have better graphics then GT4, every thing because the Dreamcast can do the same nomber of polygons that the ps2 does and better textures, and yes games like RE4 on Dreamcast whold look closer to the GC version then the ps2 version.

And yes the Dreamcast has better graphics the the PS2, the real problem was that the Dreamcast was relesed back in 1998 and in 1998 the graphics were difrent then the graphics back in 2001, and people didn't thinked on the true power of the dreamcast, and back in 2001 the Dreamcast was been disapear, and people wasn't able to produce good games for Dreamcast any more, and on 2002 people were tinking on revolucionary graphics.

If you look at the textures in a lot of Dreamcast games they are a lot sharper than some PS2 textures I've seen. I like the fact that a large proportion of popular Dreamcast titles like DOA2, RE:CV, Headhunter (probably not considered as popular as the aforementioned) and Grandia 2 just to name a few were ported onto the PS2, makes you think doesn't it. Headhunter is a classic though, with a soundtrack by Richard Jacques how couldn't it be?.

the dreamcast actually had more graphical power, it has better internal memories to, and ps2 do not do texture comprention, for exemple ps2 VRAM memory-4 MB and for textures-10 MB and no texture compresion, and now the Dreamcast VRAM memory-8 MB and textures-25 MB and Texture comprension, and for pollygons they're the same actually 7 milion poligons for ps2 and 7 milion poligons for the Dreamcast

Actually, the PS2 could pull off Anti-aliasing. However, developers had to program anti-aliasing into PS2 games themselves, unlike the Dreamcast which had anti-aliasing programed into the console itself (thus, all 3D Dreamcast games had anti-aliasing).

Anti-Aliasing is a graphics filter that smooths out the graphics of a 3D game to make it look less pixilated or jaggy. It does this by slightly blending different colors/objects together visually to make the image smoother.
Basically, in short, it makes a game look smoother and, overall, better.

Dreamcast can surely "hold" RE 4, be sure of that...Dreamcast grafix engine is better than PS2, because it was better designed, with better central chip. Also, it had double video RAM than the PS2, 8mbytes, also dc firstly had the anti-aliasing system installed, sega imported it later in PS2 by software and the rest of the companies copied the method, and the game that did that was....surprisingly Headhunter!

About GC, it is known that nintendo dropped an agreement with a known grafix company to install a chip that was the improvement of the dreamcast one, made in both occasions by NEC.
So as far as console power, the line is:
1.Game Cube
2.Dreamcast
3.PS2
X-BOX of course is an other story cause it is not a real console.
But DC is recognized as the most powerfull among experts, because it was launched 2 years before GC and it was mostly an experimental platform, for the next generation.

Nah, GC is a bit better than DC for graphics, but DC>PS2 graphically. The 6th gen graphical order goes: Xbox or GC>DC>PS2. Sorry PS2 u can handle the polygons but your textures are N64-esque.
