  • I think epi6 is a bit of a deep

  • i have a epi double neck and 2 leas paul customs wht & blk. it does not have this crap on it he talkes about. this must be new

  • Too much neck angle makes the bridge too high and that makes the tone suck/saggy/loose.

This is actually a common design flaw found on most LesPauls and copy versions aswell.

  • I would never choose a Gibson guitar over a epiphone guitar. Epiphones are much better than Gibson and there way underpriced for the professional quality they deliver it will always be epiphone for me never Gibson.

  • @EPI6fingers looll, i have a gibson epiphone...

  • Epiphone are not cheap guitars they are top professional quality and cost less for the simple reason there made over sea's but that bullshit will change. Because a great guitar is a great guitar no matter were its made. You have more and more top Gibson guitar endorsers that are endorseing and playing epiphone guitars because they are top professional quality and simply brilliant! The Chinese luthiers over at epiphone China are some of the very best guitar makers in the world hands down!

  • Rustyjames don't work for epiphone I own and play a few there simply brilliant guitars

  • @TheAbsorbant Squier is for strats/other fender guitars. Completely different sound.

  • I like this presentation. You really go through everything that makes the Epi a better choice for a cheap guitar than, say, a Squier.

  • Epiphone china guitar luthiers smokes Gibsons usa guitar luthiers by a country mile. And for thoes who think not trust me your only fooling yourselfs. Gibson hasnt made a better guitar on the most part since 2008. I would never chose a Gibson. Epi 4 life

  • @EPI6fingers you work for epiphone you shameless salesman i know this

  • les paul decided what time it was but he learned that trick from chuck norris ..

  • Dr. Epiphone i just found out just how good Asian Mohogany Wood Realy is. Its the same Mahogany Wood that most Epiphones are made of. Its also used to make HighEnd Funiture and HighEnd Flooring. I love it some of the most tonel Wood around today!

  • surely Noel Gallagher would be good as Dr Epiphone? He must have made them shitloads

  • Part 2 so the answer to your question is korea made Epiphones better than todays Epiphones is a very huge NO not even close. Just put it this way theres more profesional guitarist today that are choosing Epiphone over Gibson. i wont play any thing else

  • Raross6119 todays Epiphones are being compard to the usa made Epiphones of the 1960's. Todays Epiphones are the very best in top professional quality. There only down fall there way under priced for the quality they deliver today.

  • hey Dr Epiphone i just recently purchased an epiphone custom that was made i Korea. i was told that this was one of the best epiphone Les pauls ever made.i would love to know from someone with your experience.could tell me about these model

  • Fran i kid you not with in the past 2 months i have had 3 Gibson standard sg owners wanting to make a even trade for my Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg Reissue after playing it. My answer was no way in hell. Gibson NEVER. EPI ALWAYS!

  • Theres a very good Reason why more and more top guitarist are choosing todays Epiphone les pauls and sg's over the Gibson models. Epiphone delivers the very best in craftmanship and Quality. Epiphones only down fall is there way under priced FACT!

  • China a great luthier is a great luthier wether there black or white or in this case from china. American luthiers are not some speacial human that has a special power in crafting guitars. The chinese have been known for centurys for there top wood work.

  • Part-2 if you think Gibsons are superior over todays Epiphones your sadly mistaken my friend. Epiphones are today superior over Gibsons i have 3 recent Epiphone guitars and i would NEVER choose any Gibson over EPI. EPI's only down fall way under priced.

  • @EPI6fingers where are your epis from? chinese les paul standard are good?

  • 777Plove. Save your money and buy a usa made guitar? Why todays guitars that are made over sea's are just as good even better than what we make (usa) Epiphone has proved that the past few years. If you think that todays Gibson Guitars are superior

  • Part-2 i would never choose a Gibson standard sg or a Gibson 60's special sg over a Epiphone G-400 standard 62 sg or the Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg Reissue. The Epiphones are clearly better. EPI's only problem is way under priced.

  • cciam. 2010 to present Epiphone SG's and Lp's guitars are of very top quality. Poor pickups Thats not even close to the truth. The only guitar company thats gone from good to very bad is Gibson. Todays EPI's are superior over Gibson from 2010 to present

  • Poor pickup... :(

  • this is the guy fieri of guitars

  • Most of todays Epiphone guitars are so under priced for the top quality they deliver its down right PATHETIC! i would put the sg's i mentioned up against the Gibson models any day and feel real good about it. Gibsons hay day is over EPI's just started.

  • The 2010 Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and the 2011Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg Reissue are simply the best quality all the way . The Gibson models are not at all better than the Epiphones. EPI's only down fall is there under priced.

  • This garbage that your guitar has to be made in the usa to have top quality is just that garbage. Todays Epiphone sg's and Lp's are some of the very best Crafted guitars on the plannet. And there Electronics are A+ for shure. I put Epi's over Gibsons.

  • Save your money and buy a USA guitar

  • dr. guitar's clinic

  • i love mi a Epiphone :) Epiphone and Ibanez! <3

  • "if it doesn't work it's not a guitar" lol i love that

  • It's all in your hands and what you like. Nothing more, nothing less.If you use a ton of effects,to arrive at "your" sound, and are happy with it,or use none, and are happy with it,what does it matter the name on the headstock?

  • I have an Epiphone Casino 61 Reissue...awesome I love it.

  • Whats so special about Epiphone Guitars?

"Nothing. Go buy a Gibson." - Dr. Epiphone

  • HA! i see my guitar

(hanging, fifth on the row, starting with the beautiful gray one)

  • @BagelzZzMonicaLol that ugly thing? erm not ot be mean, but you should get an explorer bc there so sexy

  • i meet him in real lif yesterday!!

  • @RXoriginal the total gibson experience at rockheim? i was there :P i got ryans guitarpick :P

  • @vezonproductions U lucky bastard, i was there too... :P

  • @RXoriginal haha, i stayed a little while after it wasfinished and me and my friend was talking to dr epiphone and Ryan for quite a while

  • epiphone is the best !!!

  • @Minecrafthomiez gibson is better...

  • Umm, is that Guy Fieri???

  • I really believe that when you buy a Gibson, you're mostly paying for the name. I mean, there good guitars but most of them are overpriced. But with Epiphone, you're mostly paying for the guitar. Gibson is better then epiphone, but not as much as difference in the price.

In the end, I like Fender alot better.

  • Oh no, dont buy fender or else aliens will attack from lost string vibrations!! yeah.. sure

  • What a tree hugger. Epiphone is junk made in China. Fender kills Gibson.

  • your guitar today doesnt have to be made in the USA anymore to be top quality all the way around and epiphone proves that all the time!

  • i would put the 2010 epiphone G-400 (62) SG up against the Gibson Standard SG anyday and anytime. its simply a all around better SG than the Gibson Standard SG!

  • Most of the comments about "these guitars are shit" are from fucktards that can't even play.

  • if they are so awesome why does my special 2 suck

  • @valdivia562 2 rules: It's a cheaper guitar; you get what you pay for. And 2, the guitar is as only good as the player.

  • @FlexFlowify i guess my playing has something to do with the pick ups shorting out

  • @valdivia562 Like I said, you get what you pay for

  • @FlexFlowify The saying "You get what you pay for" is old & outdated. Some greedy companies charge bloated prices & some others charge fair & reasonable prices. I have a $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac & most people think it cost thousands. It's flawless. I like it BETTER than my Gibson LP which cost WAY more. And I'll take a Carvin over a Gibson or PRS any day. Carvins are quality pro-level high-end gorgeous guitars for less than Gibson & PRS prices. No, you don't always get what you pay for.

  • @valdivia562 my sounds good

  • @RichardGuitarTV mine sounds good too for a second though

  • what do i have to do to get his job?? :D

  • isn't this just cringeworthy? nobody laughs at his 'jokes'

  • that fire burst lp in the back is sexy

  • its a nice little sound, iv'e never been able to figure out how to use it musically, but it always kinda sounded like fairies XD

  • "Little springy clippy things" I love it

  • ??? my output jack spins alot and its loose??? What?

  • @legendsveil Same prob here.. Really annoying / :

  • @jantjecool They just make them fast then ship them, and Yupp

  • is epiphone made in china??

  • Comment removed

  • when i look at this due i think tenacious D .... dunno why

  • Comment removed

  • @OverSlyZed

Why put so much money in such a crappy guitar

  • @WoWintosh Coz' I really love it. And it's not crappy. In my old school all guitarist had squier teles..wow...these where crappy shitpiles

Epis are nice. A have no problem with them so far, and that's the point.

  • im buying the Epiphone Goth Explorer soon! ^_^

  • For all the noobs here on youtube, saying Epiphone is a alternative, for those who can't afford a Gibson :

    1. All guitars are unique of their own, even if they are made by the same brand, with the same electronics, made of the wood of 1 single tree etc. etc. there is always a small difference in the sound of a guitar.

    2. If Epiphone is the ''cheap-gibson'' builder, why do so many artists play on Epiphone guitars, or even have awesome signature models? cause epiphone has it own unique sound

  • @Basstard22 Nothing against Epiphone but many of those artists playing Epiphone, play Epiphones that were built in the USA and not those midprice import models.

Signature Models give those musicians and companies money. Thats basically it.

  • @TheonlyLamp hmm.. yeeah that could be a answer aswell.. but im still disappointed about those negative comments, like : ''the cheap gibson guitars'' and so on.. if that's the only reason you buy it (cause you can't afford ''a real'' gibson), why even thinking about getting one? you know what i mean?

  • @Basstard22 I totally agree with you. Had some Epis in the past as well and still have a Chet Atkins model and they were fine! Not exactly like the big brothers and sisters from Gibson, but well, lets say different - not always for the worse!

  • @TheonlyLamp sure thing. i bought a Thunderbird Pro V a while ago and im very happy about it. no problems with the pickups or electronics. the sound is very smooth with a good attack in it. i wish there was only more though for the electric basses.. as a 5 string..

  • Haha my brand new Epiphone jack broke :l easy fix though, but didn't expect it from Epiphone ;[

  • mmm.. grover!

  • Live, Epiphones are amazing, I don't know why you'd play anything else, I'd use a Gibson in the studio but epiphones are fucking amazing

  • Comment removed

  • I heard epiphone a gibsons guitars neck's break very easily. is that true?

or you really you had to smash it to break it?

  • @djhonnym no, but some of the lower grade models have defects or errors made in the factory that cause weak necks. but dont let this discourage you from epi or gibson. they are the best in my opinion.

  • little spinny clicky things

  • This guy is like Guy Fry and Jack Black combined

  • Comment removed

  • I love guitars

  • little springy clipy thingies

  • but why epiphone is cheaper than gibson?

  • @MrFreeDrugs wood quality mostly

  • @MrFreeDrugs The woods more cheaper and they aren't as well built at Gibsons. Just like Squier to Fender. But they're both actually really amazing guitars. I believe most recent Squiers and Epiphones can easily be compaired to most Fenders/Gibsons.

  • @BassAdams6661 hate to piss on your parade but the 2010 epiphone g-400 62 sg is conciderd

to be one of the very best sg's made period. more pro guitarist prefer the 2010 model

over the gibson models for the simple fact they are a better sg period this is why they are no longer

available because they are better and gibson did not like that!

  • ok im kinda new to this but am i crazy or is there a difference between the Gibson Thunderbird & Epiphone Thunderbird's body? it seems like the bottom swoop of the Gibson is longer than the Epiphone

  • do the g-400 have the non roatating output jack

  • I like the feel, the sound and the look of Epiphone and Gibson guitars, but it's just more natural with a Fender according to my oppinion!:)

  • haha his jacket says proffesor of epi-ology

  • hes like the shamwow guy of guitars, but without all the hooker stuff going on.

  • @TheGBau How do you know?

  • I personally prefer Fender, but I played an Epiphone once and it was okay.

  • man im happy ive got my epiphone///

  • This guy works the best in the advertising part of epiphone.

  • I hate the way i see people knock down epiphone, people tend to forget that these guitars are amazing pieces of equipment, i own two epiphone guitars and i gotta say these guitars are incredible, ive never had any problems with them, they are truly brilliant!

  • @metalshredder14 Let's not forget that the King of the Blues, B.B. King plays an Epiphone.

  • theres no such thing ant more that a great guitar has to be made in the USA,

today if i was told that my reply would be Bullsh_t. china guitar lutheirs/crafters

all have the best training state of the art building and CNC machines and more.

the epiphone g400 62 sg in 2010 is just one of the guitars that are highend and pro quailty and made in china under the full control of Gibson USA. THIS IS ONE OF THE BIG REASONS that pro guitarist/musicians are playing this guitar on a pro level.

  • lol: the secret? lil springy clipy things :D

  • @ MitchRulzWorld lol. good nuts.

  • i think he just missed something...when he said that if you put the bridge back wards your entonation gets "funny" thats not true as long as the saddles are in the right place the string will have the apropiate length and entonation :)

  • @kiwiredrum yea but if u just put it on backward hows it gonna be in the right place???

  • @hackerwacker4 just like i did :) check out my les paul in my videos

  • i want the job of the guitar that tests out all the guitars to make sure they work, now thats a sick job

  • the china factory is a state of the art factory.

  • I have a PB-725 have any info on that model?

  • I own an Epiphone Studio Standard that is a bolt on Les Paul and it rocks!!!

  • someone cant focus the camera :D

  • I brake my connection in th input jack on a epiphone sg g-400. Wath I am supose to do?

  • If like what he said.. Is therea big different between an old les paul custom compare to a 2010 les paul custom?? Anyone who can answer my question?

  • @08248964896 The older one is probably better especially if it Was made in Korea, the new ones are made in china.

  • @BL80488 the new ones are alot better. the 2010 Epiphone G-400 62 SG

i would say is a highend SG and now in 2010 i would very much compare

the 2010 model Epiphone G-400 62 SG to the Gibson standard SG and it's

much better than the Gibson faded SG.

  • Dr.Epiphone

    HEHE...

  • I'm so glad I have 2010 Epiphone Les Paul

  • this makes me love my epiphone even more.

  • i saw heaven behind him ~

  • k i own a epi les paul custom and most of this just made me laugh cause a lot of it was a jab at fender which he makes sound "better" when it's down to preference mostly. They are brilliant guitars and does make me very glad i didn't buy a gibson. I could rattle on about every point he made about what i agree and disagree with but don't have all day lol

  • @rgjmce666 Fender's are good guitars, but I like Gibson's/Epiphones more. They just have the tone and feel I'm looking for.

  • @Rangerhalt1 fenders are great guitars and i personally prefer them cause they are good compromise, nice feel and sound, les pauls i find don't have the feel, although the neck is nice, sg would probably be good in between guitar, i think gibson les pauls are the most overpriced guitars, epiphones are as good feel wise and not far off on sound too :)

  • @rgjmce666 Fender's are nice. I can name a few amazing guitarists who use them. (Eric Clapton, Mick Mars, Joe Satriani, etc.) But, to me, Gibson's are amazing because I can name tons of people who use them. Slash, Zakk Wylde, Eric Clapton, (He uses SG's and Les Paul's) Ace Frehley, Angus Young, I could go on and on if I liked. But I also just prefer the tone and feel of it. SG's are indeed a good in between guitar. They're pricey, but there's non-expensive ones. The Les Paul Studio for one.

  • @Rangerhalt1 i wouldn't judge a guitar brand by who plays them

  • @rgjmce666 I know it's about personal preference, but numbers speak for themselves. Besides, you never see professional guitarists using Ibanaz and EMP's. You never see a professional use a Fender Starcaster or Squier. So I would judge a guitar brand/model by who plays them a little bit.

  • @Rangerhalt1 yeah but if i think a guy is shit i don't care who plays, the amount of bad signature guitar is unbelievable

  • @rgjmce666 Yes, but the Slash, Joe Perry and Angus Young ones are amazing. I honestly can't think of a Fender Signature Guitar. Probably because I've never looked. :P

  • @Rangerhalt1 haven't tried any of them but zakk wylde, tony iommi and richie blackmore sigs are awful, my opinion of course

  • @rgjmce666 Yeah. There are some bad signature guitars out there. For every brand. Not just Fender and Gibson/Epiphone.

  • lol hmmm i wonder what brand uses string trees? hmmmmm

  • I still don't get it

i want to buy an epiphone

    but what should i choose!?

    standard or standard plus

    i don't see a difference between them...

  • @Darkdead95

It's the top that's different. The Plus has a better quality wood on the top.

I'd get the standard plus, it's just prettier ;)

  • @Darkdead95 If you strapped for cash then buy a regular Standard, but if your not and you rather a lighter guitar get a plus top.

  • i've never seen a guy so passionate about guitars

  • @WeThePeopleRoxx4 I have. His name is Slash.

  • @WeThePeopleRoxx4 you havent seen me xD

  • @WeThePeopleRoxx4 PHIL X!

  • Fender has a flat headstock but it has a quite angle to one side...

  • @kingofskateop Be careful getting all your info from this one guy. He's knowledgeable but keep in mind he's getting paid to do this. Angled headstock does mean it has better sustain, but a straight headstock is better for keeping strings in tune if you have a tremolo system, which most guitars with straight headstocks do (ie Fender Strats).

  • @kingofskateop This guy knows his stuff but keep in mind he's getting paid to do this. Angled headstock does mean more sustain, but a flat headstock is better at keeping strings in tune if you have a tremolo system installed, which most guitars with a flat headstock do (ie. Fender Strats).

  • @CritikalMind2008 The reason Fender has straight headstocks is because of the whammy bar. (Which 80% of people with whammy bars don't even use them)

  • i want his job

alot of guitars just standing behind him

  • @bruno753951 damn i just hit the dislike button by mistake >< i so agree with you

  • this guy did his homeworks. awesome!!!

  • Prs se is better imo but Epi's are way better since les paul died, don't know why

  • Loving the British accent at 7:36 - 7:78

  • sorry..but agile guitar pwns epiphone both in price and in quality.

  • 7.30 fender?

  • What i dont get is.. ive heard alot of people changing pickups/hardware bla bla bla out of epiphone & gibson guitars all the time to new seymore duncans or rockfields etc... why not buy (for example) a Michael Kelly... i tried one out not long ago and in my opinion build quality and sound outgamed epiphone.

i guess each to thier own.

  • i saw this guy a few weeks ago he was very good and talked about the stuff here with us but its ashame because the store he was in didnt realy tell anyone that he was going to be there so there wasnt that many people . it was still nice to learn more about epiphone

  • nice! very interesting!
