maybe i cant see but i didn't see a RAID card. Please don't tell me your using on-board RAID? What RAID are you running right if not i hope that DATA on that "server" isn't important? That GPU is a little bit overkill. Not mad bro just saying
i just got a server computer. im putting windows xp on it. how am i supposed to get a dedicated server? do i use a prgram like fshost or something? any help would be appreciated
@Drew927 if you want a server using an os from that era, use windows 2k. xp is literally the consumer version of 2k. but even better would be to use a linux os when it comes to a cheap server. and when you say dedicated server i am guessing you are talking about a game server, and always the recommendation there is to use the software recommended on the boards of the particular game, i somehow doubt that you would be doing a multi-server where you host up more than one dedicated at once.
@Drew927 and why i say use 2k it is because it has allot of features for things like file serving and domain mastering that xp lacks. and always some form of 2kserver would be best, there are allot if you include things like windows 2003server in that class, which i do, they all have the same lineage though, whether it be 2kworkstation or 2kserver or 200* server (or even xp vista and 7) they all spawn from old school nt4.
@Drew927 and if you are thinking of serving multiple dedicated game servers, you need to use a build of linux, with virtual "windows" (not as in windows os necessarily) for each game, though if you are going that far you need allot more than a single quad core, or even eight core proc. and 16 gig of memory in dual or even quad channel wouldn't be enough.
Just because you've used some Delta fans doesn't make up for the fact that there's no raid disk subsystem (file redundancy), no redundant power supplies (n+1 or otherwise), No ECC parity ability (let alone Ecc cache scrubbing).
Also in practice... the motherboard is stupid. Front to back principle applies to servers, so the ram is facing the wrong way, so is the cpu heatsink.
Other than all this, It's a nice, tidy, loud, DESKTOP computer :)
Lol are you for real? do you actually care that much? This is a computer that I built for work and using server hardware serves me no purpose whatsoever. This is a server case, in a rackmount so I'm calling it a fucking server. You mad bro?
@implosion222 No not mad. I work for a small IT firm building servers and clients and it's a pet peeve of mine when a user comes to me saying my server isn't working, 20 freaking times a day... heh
@produKtNZ , I get where you are coming from, Im a civil engineer and I put multiple computer systems together and if you go check out my other vids.. I got some of my own too.. maybe too many of them haha. But the computers I build that goes into rackmounts are mainly for server applications. It also helps differencing the types of computers we use and its less confusing for my boss when I tell him im working on the servers instead of just saying " computers'
@produKtNZ haha, that's the beauty of my job.. I don't have to deal with the customer directly when it comes to computers.. I worked at a local IT job for a week when I was younger and had to leave. People bring my piss to a boil lol. Of course , not all of them are bad. I've made some good friends over the year with what I know about computers. It's a trade off :P
(ser´ver) (n.) A computer or device on a network that manages network resources. There are many different types of servers. For example: File server: a computer and storage device dedicated to storing files. Any user on the network can store files on the server. Print server: a computer that manages one or more printers, and a network server is a computer that manages network traffic. Database server: a computer system that processes database queries.
typical, they would make that noise pushing THAT much air thru, lmao, dude, it rocks :) i love that noise but its hard to make it come out of my computer. let alone which delta fans they were. theres like a million models to choose from :(
When you reach 92% N1 or N2, release the brakes and allow the machine to accelerate forward. Pull back on the control wheel just slightly and you'll be airborne in no time.
Nice rig man but that fan scared the heck out of me -,- at full sounds like Formula 1 cars:P at first thaught it was a train or something XP wat was source for that noise?/ which fan?

@implosion222 The processor itself is already not a server processor, you're just using a desktop processor for server applications.

BTW: I know, this is not a server motherboard.... so buy a Computer Case.. Because RAM has to be vertically located because of airflow, guy.
