mission762008: Drywall installers like to complain about that. Also, the advocates of gluing behind drywall also don't like it. But honestly, you shouldn't need to glue drywall. As for the installers, it's really not a big deal. They say that the inconsistent surface due to the tabs and the staples make it harder for them. I say it's worth the negligible extra effort considering the improvement in the insulation performance.
External wall insulation is a technology developed to improve the thermal performance of buildings by the application of an insulating layer and a decorative weatherproof finish applied to the external wall surfaces of a building
As a home energy rater, there are some things they do ni this video that we do not recommend. Inset stapling is a no-no, since it compresses insulation at the edges, meaning it will reduce the performance. Staple to the face of the studs instead. This will keep the insulation performing properly. Also, do not use the scraps around the windows and doors. Use a low-expanding spray foam instead - it is a much better air seal than compressed fiberglass insulation.
I thought the same thing.I have been reading about insulation install a lot and seeing that the video shows to staple inside the stud is not effective. Staple on top of the studs and as you said this way it doesnt squeeze the edges of the insulation thus reducing it's effectiveness.
@vandemusser Hey I just read your comment..I'm going to do this in the near future, are you saying that you should staple on the 2x side? Wouldn't the sheetrock then be offset??
@mission762008 Yod are supposed to staple on the 2x stud side but staple hard enough to make the staple level....just think if you had 200-300 staple half assed in and sticking out, it would be a pretty big pain for drywall, BUT just hit the dam staple hammer harder!
Thanks you !!

If you use a polyester batt instead you do not need to wear gloves or a mask. Making it much safer and easier to install.
