However, they will be much more concerned with what is happening around them and particularly to themselves. In other words, the war and the deaths in Iraq matter, but not as much as the economy. There was a clear majority opinion before the war that the people in the UK did not want to see the invasion. The people protested. The "democratically" elected government went into the war anyway. If the people of the UK could not even stop its government from engaging in a war to which they were clealy opposed (remember, starting and participating in a war should be a very serious matter for a nation.), could you tell me where their bottom line is?

War is serious. You will find no support for the Labour govt, the 2003 invasion, or war here.

Apparently you still don't get my point. A lot of people are concerned with deaths of people, however far these deaths take place. However, they will be much more concerned with what is happening around them and particularly to themselves. In other words, the war and the deaths in Iraq matter, but not as much as the economy. That's why they got the Labour back into the office again in 2005.

But if you Google the data (I don't seem to be able to post links) you can see that they went from a massive majority, to fairly consistantly sliding down the approval chart from 2002/2003 (time of invasion).
The recession hit in 2008. Labour's approval was at 30% in 2007.
You seem to be blaming 2007 ratings on 2008 events.

The labour and Tony won the last general election in 2005, 4 YEARS AFTER the invasion of Iraq. It seems that the British voters are really patient people. Democracy is slow. It's an unfortunate, but unavoidable, aspect of actually asking millions their opinion... take us two. We could probably chat for hours.
In the end though, Labour has lost its credibility. I think it is unfair to not attribute some of that to the people's opposition of the war - which you yourself acknowledge - and blame it on a globally induced credit crisis.

Much like China was after WW2 Britain was in a bad way. It's what happens when you fight against one of, if not the most evil dictators the world has ever seen. And Britain didn't just fight Germany and it's other European allies it fought against Japan when it was invading China as well.

china never had 'imperialism', the closest to thing china did was dictatorship. you can argue that china took over tibet. however, tibet was a part of china for long periods of history, unlike the west who just took random countries, stripped them of their resources, and left them poor as a 3rd world country.

The last thing Britain was thinking about was getting influence in China. Read up on history Japan committed the same atrocities to Chinese as Germany did to Britain so I don't think we "bullied" on the level of Japan. Back then it wasn't about borders it was about getting rid of the Nazis. I didn't attack your country you don't need to defend China I was just defending Britain. History is history I don't care who was a dictatorship in the past and I think Tibet is and always was a part of China

well, i currently live in england and i am doing mao's china for my GCSE history. my history teacher made it very clear that britain was bullying china throughout the late 1800s and before the pre-war period of WWII.
germany did not commit much atrocities to britain actually, they only threw bombs at you while the japanese imperial army had 'races' on who can kill the most chinese in a set period of time, resulting in around at least 10 million chinese dead.

China and chinese people only respect western views when they promote EVERYTHING about China, while at the same time demoting the west. This being the only example of a "good" westerner for any chinese view towards western people. Chinese are a one raced people who only identify with how their chinese people feel. Chinese are extremely unable to identify with westerns about anything, yet expect the rest of entire world to understand chinese people and respect their culture.
