  • too bad it's automatic though.....

  • @cap10moman It's the 6 speed manual. I had the auto in my old 97 528, it was garbage.

  • @qcdstick damn...nice work with the clutch/gas!! Really smooth all the way to 4th! I'd love to have some staggered M5 rims, but I needed a set of snow shoes where I live so I got a set of Borbet 16's wrapped in X-Ice. Had to choose one or the other, and there was no way I was going to use any type of BMW rim on the salty snow roads....that would be a waist of money...

  • @cap10moman My winter set is 16" style 33's that came from a non-sport. Picked em up with OK snow tires for $200 bucks for the set. Not my favorite tires, but had lots of tread. Still running them 5 years later. There are great deals out there on OEM stuff if you are patient. The ones in the video are original to the car, but didn't come with it. I had to go back one owner prior who after 2 years still had them sitting in his garage. Got those for 300, tires included.

  • @qcdstick I'll have to check around for a good deal on some oem BMW rims...the Borbet's I have now just don't look "right"...not bad, but they don't have that BMW sleek look. I laughed when you mentioned the age of your snow tires....I knew mine were old, but I checked the markings on them and they are from 2002!!! 10 yrs old and still enough tread for a few more seasons, haha. I bought them from the previous owner without rims. I would never drive in the snow again without a set...

  • @cap10moman Yeah, I don't know how long the last guy ran mine, they could be 10 years old too. I daily drove the 540 one or two winters on them, they did the job but were not half as good as the Blizzaks I sold with the 528. I have a mid 90's civic with Blizzaks that serves as a winter beater now and that combo works very well. The snow tries I have for the BMW work fine for the few times I choose to take it out, but I keep it in the garage to hide it from the salt during winter.

  • @qcdstick Really? Blizzaks? My Mom's F10 535xi has those things on it and I could swear it's worse than my 540i with the old Mich's on it! Either way though, a set of summers and a set of winters are the way to go....Keep me updated on any upgrades you make!!!

  • used to have one exactly like that!! Before even reading the description, I thought, "that's a '97" haha. I liked those rims, but the ones on my '99 look "cleaner".....Love to see a STOCK 540i on the dyno!!!!!

  • @cap10moman I have some 18" m5 reps I run most of the time. The 18" M5 reps look better, but the stock 17's are a lot lighter. I use the 17s equipped with RS3's for Autocross and the occasional track day, works great for that.

  • Here's the site that used your video: superchargertuning com complete scam shit.

  • I didn't mean to make it seem like I'm not calling them a scam site by putting the words "scam site" in quotes. Their product is junk and will do all harm and no good.

    Just clarifying.

  • Here's the "scam site" people are talking about...

superchargertuning . com (remove the spaces)

Go to the "Dyno" tab and look at the video. It might look familiar!

I'd e-mail them and raise some serious hell. I own an E46 330Ci, so I know what you mean by "electric fan" (I guess nobody's heard of a radiator fan). Get that video taken down from their website!

  • So is the scam site yours?

  • @bmxdad I don't know what scam site you are referring to, but no. I did a before and after test on the dyno to see the effects removing the exhaust resonators had, and nothing else. Anyone trying to use these videos to sell any product is pulling your leg. I would hope that would be apparent from the video descriptions since no products were added or changed between the tests, simply a removal of some stock exhaust components was the only changes.

No product is being sold, or even used here.

  • @qcdstick - Those are good numbers dude.

  • Beautiful car. If I ever sell my 3 series I want the same model. Does it get close to 270 stock?

  • hey, this video is posted on an electric supercharger website. i wanted to ask if this car has an electric supercharger or if they're just using your video to scam us.

  • @mucushrapnel The mods to the car are listed in the description. If you confuse an electric fan with a supercharger, you should stay far far away from modifying your car.

  • @qcdstick lol don't worry i know the difference. i was asking because the site claims to have an electric supercharger (which i was already skeptical about) and uses your video saying it's a dyno test, but i didn't even see any kind of supercharger listed in your modifications. so that's why i had to ask. and yeah now i know they're trying to scam us. anyway, thanks for replying. =D

  • we can´t hear the v8

  • toyota dealer, service manager, told me not to use RP trans in my toyota. he is full of shit or what. please give me an honest answer, meaning only reply if you have it in YOUR car, and have had it awhile, not since last week.

  • @hemet92544 - Still running the RP, no problems what so ever in my car but this car is not a Toyota either...

  • @qcdstick For clarification, what is RP?

  • @TheFerruccio Royal Purple

  • whats fuel econ. like?

  • @guitarsnowmobiler no noticeable change in fuel economy, still get 25/26 highway sometimes better.

  • dang sounds pretty ricey

  • These horsepower and torque is on wheels or in the motor???

    Wonderful car!

  • that would be @ the rear wheels.

  • I saw the other video and wondered-

at the end of the day-

did you put the resonator and silencer back on? Loosing horespower is bad...

  • I left it with the resonator and silencer off, it has remained that way for almost a year now. I love the sound so much it is worth it to me. A few people have commented how good the car sounds, and frequently when I start it up I get a "whoa, that's not stock" or something similar.

I am debating putting the resonator back on and chopping off the muffler though... Maybe that will still sound good but give me the lost power back. Perhaps a later dyno day will tell if I get around to it.

  • If I do play around further with various exhaust combination I'll be sure to post video's and dyno numbers as I get them. The raw numbers might not be as meaningful as HP/Tq numbers vary from day to day based on conditions, but the shape of the curves in relation to one another should tell a story.

  • Thanks for the follow-up.

  • Have you put it back on the dino since then? I would think the adaptive ECU would need to go through afew tanks of gas before it optimized performance for the reduced back pressure. Or maybe the ECU isnt that complex :( I guess it would be different on a newer double vanos engine aswell since yours isnt a M62TU.

  • I have not put it back on the dyno since, but I may go back this year. I'm not sure if the ECU adjusts, or if it is any different between the single and double vanos engines.

Presently I am have been having issues with rough idle. replacing the CPS (threw a code for it as well) helped but has not solved the problem. Still get misfire codes from time to time, intake gaskets are next. In any case, Dyno numbers probably won't be meaningfull until I get it in tip top shape again.
