  • Hmmm, not exactly ancient as the first melody, Guan Shan Yue, first appeared in a qinpu that was published in the early 20th century... Shenren Chang, however, is ancient (1549).

The se used here looks like a modern se rather than the ones originally used (but I can't see the tail end to say for sure...)

  • his voice very nice.what is his name?

  • very very

    good

    very excellent

  • The words are taken from a Tang dynasty poem by, I think, Li Bai, and descriibe the feelings of a man posted to frontier duty far from his family and in a desolate region.

  • Mann...he sings with alot of feelings in his beautiful voice...love it.

  • Why he is singing in Putonghua? I know that, ancient hanyu is some language that far apart from modern putonghua. Can anyone tell me why?Anyway, the music is awesome, it's very peaceful, smooth.

  • the modern putonghua is based on ancient hanyu, but putonghua make hanyu more easy to understand. otherwise, people are not able to control the hanyu in 3 years.

  • anyone know what this group is called??? This is awesome.

  • Clean arrangements. I love when music is arranged impeccably for stringed instruments. Each instrument has a very clear voice, no blurring of sounds and very delightful to listen to. Modern attempts to mix zheng with qin i feel have been lacking and poorly arranged. Good example here of how to do that! Thank you for this post!

  • this is not a zheng, it is the ancient se. They were traditionally played together until the se went extinct.

  • Oops my bad. Thank you for clarifying. I do know the distinctions between 'zheng and se.
