I can't help but really like them. They never say a bad word about anyone, they love eachother so much and are genuinely good. I am glad they're having lots of babies, we need more people like them in this world.
I think that getting pregnant with kid 20 was irresponsible, given the preeclampsia with 19, but so what? They can live their life how they want to. I don't see them needing gov aid if she dies. They seem successful and at least financially able to care for their kids. Sure, I think their beliefs are loopy, but so what? Eventually their kids will grow up, as I and most other non believers did, and possibly take some time to think critically about their beliefs.
i hate these parents. they are doing all this for the fame, but they don't even have the time to spend with their kids and once someone passes them they have all these extra kids all over the place
The only thing that concerns me about this family is I don't know if they have the time to give all the children a lot of attention. Siblings can, of course, but parents can't possibly give the same amount of attention to 20 kids as they could ten, five, three, etc. I don't think they are horrible parents, but as the eldest of two in my family, it's hard for me to be able to just picture that working out.

I have a question: Is the problem with the Duggars that they are birthing this many kids? Or is it because they have that many kids? Some people bring up the financial aspect and that it is impossible for most, and some bring up the emotional psychological impact. But it seems to me the largest point seems to come from those who have a problem with them adding to the population?
@Yuri92001 What bothers me is the fact that they're BIRTHING this many kids. It would be different if they had adopted 20 and had the means to support them. But in this world, we have not only a problem with overpopulation, but also many children who do not have good homes. And it's especially bad that they're birthing this many kids because when you get up to such a high number, both the lives of the mother and baby are in danger. Adoption would have been a solution to both of those issues.
@BaseballNOtherDrugs I agree with your point about the mother and child's life being in danger in that it's not exactly a smart thing to knowingly endanger yourself and potentially the fetus. However, if they are having the kids....can support them financially...and in the end they turn out healthy would that then still be cause for all of our collective disdain? If they are able to care for their children even despite their craziness, I don't have a problem with that.

This family is a complete fail...people should not look up to these people. They are a destruction to society and should be stopped.. do not tell me that the parents are raising these children without the help of the government or someone else...they are a burden and need to be taxed up the arse for every single life they bring into this world, but praised if they ever decide to adopt.
This family is a complete success. They are completely self-reliant, they love each other, they give back to the community. You don't ever see Duggars sniping the values, beliefs or lifestyle of others. These kids are well-mannered, genuinely happy, intelligent and joyful. How many families today can say that they want to spend time with each other? Or that their kids love and respect their parents and each other? How many of us wish our kids were as giving, kind, and encouraging to others?
This family is full of personality disorders. The cult they follow? Ridiculous, these woman are trained to be slaves to their husbands, they do nothing but plop out babies. None of these children have real interests or individual personalities. I wish my kids to be independent free spirits. When is she going to rest her tummy? It's not easy to be pregnant almost every year, and I don't think it's healthy and practical. I know that children are God's blessings and I do have kids of my own. But having 19 kids and still counting ...... and already having a grandchild (and possibly more grandchildren in the very near future), I just think these couple should stop counting and making babies anymore.

I am a very open-minded person but there are still a few things that really bother me about this: 1)The only reason she is having this many kids is because she is a devout Christian who doesn't believe in birth control. 2)It's simply irresponsible to have that many children. People can't breed like that and expect our civilization to sustain itself. 3)There is NO WAY that those children get the individual parental attention they each deserve. 4) They get their own show because of this shit.
@kindahokey And by the way, Michelle WAS quoted in an interview as saying that because she had a problem using birth control in the past, she saw it as a sign from God and chose to allow God to decide how many children she would have from then on. Those who cannot have children of their own or who want more children have the freedom to choose to adopt. God has guided my husband and I to only have one child. If you're talking about the granddaughter, I think it was also irresponsible to not let another doctor deliver the baby. We can't take anything w/ us to Heaven except our children, if they too have trusted in the Lord for salvation. We need not be overly concerned with this world. Actually, it will all be consumed with fire someday. Read 2 Peter 3, also Rev. talks about it. I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of the earth, but we can't be too extreme about it either!
@Steff957 Personally like many doctors, I feel exposing children (brainwashing them) to religious beliefs should be frowned upon. Looked at as child abuse. Teaching children that an afterlife of heaven or hell await them depending on their behavior is just wrong. Believe this or not but I've had my daughter come home from school in tears because some 9 yr. old told her she would be tortured in hell for not believing in gods. Now that is sad!

But most parents see this country as free and feel they can do what they want with their the children. I am glad god helped you, and I'm sure no one can change your heart. @Tacoflavoredkiss1 Adoption has all sorts of problems, is more expensive than having your own, much more risky than having your own, is more frustrating with red tape and legal work, and is often not that easy. I`ve know many people on adoption waiting lists for YEARS. Also adoption robs a woman of the joys of bonding during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a wonderful experinece if a woman can have it. If she can`t get pregnant then adoption is a great gift to her & a child.
@paisleyyama sure it does, but adopting one child isn't as much of a problem as birthing 19 children. I guarantee she will die of an early age because of what she's doing.
@Tacoflavoredkiss1 One adopted child w/severe emotional and/or physical problems could be MUCH more difficult than birthing 19 children. As for Michelle dying at an early age, she looks great so I don`t see that as a problem but if she does die early then at least she has lived a full, happy, regret free life who has pursued and lived out her dreams without being a problem or burden on society.
@paisleyyama Umm no its not. My aunt adopted 2 children from Nigera and she thinks it is the most wonderful thing that has happend to her. She took those childern out of a deathly situation and now they live in a safe home. Sure they're are risks but they are all worth it in the end. The duggar family are just selfish. With all the money they have, they are 100 percent capable of adopting a child if they really want another child. There are millions of kids out there that need a stable home.
@Tacoflavoredkiss1 Not all adopted kids have emotional/physical problems but some do & they are difficult to say the least. Remember the boy adopted from Russia who was threatening to kill ppl? The selfish ppl are not the Duggars but the ppl having babies & not taking care of them which leaves a baby/kid w/out parents. There is nothing selfish about bringing a baby into the world when the baby is wanted, loved, & the parents have a means for caring & providing for it as the Duggars do.
@paisleyyama The chances of adopting a child like that are 1 in a million. They have to go through a lot to make sure that the parents are capable of raising the child. its not selfish to give a child up for adoption because most of the time, the parents are not able to take care of the child and give it everything it needs. And these poor duggar children don't have a stable home With that many siblings, its impossible to give each one attention. And these kids have no rights what so ever.

To have a baby/child & give it away is cruel. All species even insects are designed to have their own babies. Not expect some other species to have the baby for them. In rare circumstances true orphans are adopted but by design orphans should be a rarity not a surplus. To have a surplus of orphans shows the cruelty of ppl`s hearts.

I think that getting pregnant with kid 20 was irresponsible, given the preeclampsia with 19, but so what? They can live their life how they want to. I don't see them needing gov aid if she dies. They seem successful and at least financially able to care for their kids. Sure, I think their beliefs are loopy, but so what? Eventually their kids will grow up, as I and most other non believers did, and possibly take some time to think critically about their beliefs.

The only thing that concerns me about this family is I don't know if they have the time to give all the children a lot of attention. Siblings can, of course, but parents can't possibly give the same amount of attention to 20 kids as they could ten, five, three, etc. I don't think they are horrible parents, but as the eldest of two in my family, it's hard for me to be able to just picture that working out.

@Yuri92001 What bothers me is the fact that they're BIRTHING this many kids. It would be different if they had adopted 20 and had the means to support them. But in this world, we have not only a problem with overpopulation, but also many children who do not have good homes. And it's especially bad that they're birthing this many kids because when you get up to such a high number, both the lives of the mother and baby are in danger. Adoption would have been a solution to both of those issues.

However, if they are having the kids....can support them financially...and in the end they turn out healthy would that then still be cause for all of our collective disdain? This family is a complete success. They are completely self-reliant, they love each other, they give back to the community. You don't ever see Duggars sniping the values, beliefs or lifestyle of others. These kids are well-mannered, genuinely happy, intelligent and joyful. How many families today can say that they want to spend time with each other? Or that their kids love and respect their parents and each other? How many of us wish our kids were as giving, kind, and encouraging to others?

I know that children are God's blessings and I do have kids of my own. But having 19 kids and still counting ...... and already having a grandchild (and possibly more grandchildren in the very near future), I just think these couple should stop counting and making babies anymore.

I am a very open-minded person but there are still a few things that really bother me about this: 1)The only reason she is having this many kids is because she is a devout Christian who doesn't believe in birth control. 2)It's simply irresponsible to have that many children. People can't breed like that and expect our civilization to sustain itself. 3)There is NO WAY that those children get the individual parental attention they each deserve. 4) They get their own show because of this shit.

The constitution and artificial conception are really irrelevant. I also feel if adults can't use common sense and care about the PGR, we should dictate in some way.

It's mindless breeding when they keep trying to get knocked up which is what they're doing. Their older girls are raising the younger ones. It's NOT about the constitution. It's about ignorance and the extreme fundamentalists supporting such procreating nonsense. The Duggar's COULD NOT afford those kids if they didn't pimp out their family on TLC. @TrustorBust716 What Redskies49 & FM897 are saying is what I believe. You don't continue to have kids when you have a truck load already and can't raise the ones you have. If you're talking about the granddaughter, I think it was also irresponsible to not let another doctor deliver the baby. There could have been some complications that a home-birth would not have been suited for. Then again, Josh is a chip off the old block. They are both attention-seeking twits who use religion as a ruse.

Altho the kids are well-behaved, it is only b/c they've been indoctrinated since the min. they were born. When you have a grandchild and grown children, it's time to quit spewing out more and more kids. These people are in their mid-forties. They need to focus on the kids they have. This last baby should never have been conceived in the first place. Her birth weight should be a "sign" that enough is enough!

@Steff957 Mitsy is right. The only way to reach a zero population growth rate in 40 years is for each couple to bare only 2 children (one to replace each parent). This couple has slightly exceeded that number! If you don't care about the future for your own children and don't mind seeing a problem like they have in China...disregard what I say.

@radiosandclocks It is NOT absurd to care about life after death. If you're a saved child of God then you know where you'll be spending it. We can't take anything w/ us to Heaven except our children, if they too have trusted in the Lord for salvation. We need not be overly concerned with this world. Actually, it will all be consumed with fire someday. Read 2 Peter 3, also Rev. talks about it. I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of the earth, but we can't be too extreme about it either!

@Steff957 Personally like many doctors, I feel exposing children (brainwashing them) to religious beliefs should be frowned upon. Looked at as child abuse. Teaching children that an afterlife of heaven or hell await them depending on their behavior is just wrong. Believe this or not but I've had my daughter come home from school in tears because some 9 yr. old told her she would be tortured in hell for not believing in gods. Now that is sad!

@Steff957 Well I am not worked up. And religion does work for some...especially those trying to cure a bad habit. I have to admit that I do not like hearing about children being exposed to it. But most parents see this country as free and feel they can do what they want with their the children. I am glad god helped you, and I'm sure no one can change your heart. Just know that if you were born in India, Iran, or Africa...your god would have a different name and your beliefs would differ.

@Tacoflavoredkiss1 Adoption has all sorts of problems, is more expensive than having your own, much more risky than having your own, is more frustrating with red tape and legal work, and is often not that easy. I`ve know many people on adoption waiting lists for YEARS. Also adoption robs a woman of the joys of bonding during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a wonderful experinece if a woman can have it. If she can`t get pregnant then adoption is a great gift to her & a child.

As for Michelle dying at an early age, she looks great so I don`t see that as a problem but if she does die early then at least she has lived a full, happy, regret free life who has pursued and lived out her dreams without being a problem or burden on society.

@paisleyyama Umm no its not. My aunt adopted 2 children from Nigera and she thinks it is the most wonderful thing that has happend to her. She took those childern out of a deathly situation and now they live in a safe home. Sure they're are risks but they are all worth it in the end. The duggar family are just selfish. With all the money they have, they are 100 percent capable of adopting a child if they really want another child. There are millions of kids out there that need a stable home.

The selfish ppl are not the Duggars but the ppl having babies & not taking care of them which leaves a baby/kid w/out parents. There is nothing selfish about bringing a baby into the world when the baby is wanted, loved, & the parents have a means for caring & providing for it as the Duggars do.

They have to go through a lot to make sure that the parents are capable of raising the child. its not selfish to give a child up for adoption because most of the time, the parents are not able to take care of the child and give it everything it needs. And these poor duggar children don't have a stable home With that many siblings, its impossible to give each one attention. And these kids have no rights what so ever.

To have a baby/child & give it away is cruel. All species even insects are designed to have their own babies. Not expect some other species to have the baby for them. In rare circumstances true orphans are adopted but by design orphans should be a rarity not a surplus. To have a surplus of orphans shows the cruelty of ppl`s hearts.

I said The Duggars feel that it's up to God to say how many kids they should have....therefore, this should be a sign to stop. As far as the impact on the planet...not many people are following in their shoes, fortunately. I feel bad for their kids. As I said, what will happen to all their daughters? If ANY of you actually watch the show, you would know that until the baby is eating totally solid food or even beyond, they stay with Michelle 24/7. She DOES NOT push newborns into the buddy system early, she spends as much time as she can doing it herself.

MarciaSmart---- You and MsSarcia are correct. I agree with everything you guys say. The Duggars shouldn't even have had #19. It is so unfair how the older girls are doing what Michelle should be doing. And now that #19 is a premie, it will have to probably stay in the hospital for a couple of months if it's ok. I was also born very premature as well, but that's just because I'm a triplet. This just shows you the risks of pregnancy and hopefully the Duggars learn something from this.

This child won't be whole, 1lbs babies are born with some kind of health problems if they make it at all, that is.
