I had an m7700 years ago and did have issues, which I fixed, because Alienware wouldn't.

If you know how to build a system, you really are better off doing it yourself. You can get better components, for less. Nothing delusional about that at all. It's reality.

And Dell monitors are garbage. You want to spend money? Put it towards a professional class NEC MultiSync or similar.

I learned the hard way, by wasted my money getting crap everyone else said was so great.

I had a HDD problem on my m7700 and Alienware wouldn't even take the thing back to fix it, so I hung up and did it myself. Their service is SHIT.

The same PC from Ibuypower using the same parts is $400 More then i paid for my alienware.

Cyberpower was about 200 bucks more then i paid for my alienware desktop with the same parts.

Only difference the two systems and mine is the case.

Buying all new parts and building myself You know the BIG savings way........ savings of $100 and the loss of hours spent building installing tweaking testing updating it.

The Ones they been using look absolutely fisher price compared to the previous predator cases which were taller and more unique. Mac = The harley davidson of Computers where your paying for a name whereas a PC = The Japanese Cruiser that's better all around and costs less. Besides mac's have intel guts now so just build a Hackintosh instead and get the best of both worlds unless you absolutely have to pay more for a name.

I've had experiences with macs and can quite simply say all the "they don't crash or get viruses or are better then pcs" Hoopla mac lovers preached i found not to be truth. If your into music editing and photo work then macs are for you but one can't help but see pc's do just as well in those fields and are getting better and better.

And not all pc's are built like a cheap E-machine. My alienware is 6 years old and the vid card is the only thing i need to change to run the majority of todays games decent. And i've seen homebrews that are nothing short of excellent quality build (without busting the budget either). I do love pc's and windows and can't say i'm jealous since i can use pretty much all the games and apps one finds on the net without asking "Is there a mac version" with the likely answers being "No" ;-)

If you're competent enough to build a computer from the parts you want, you should be competent enough to replace a part in the computer easily. Most motherboards have codes that flash that tell you what part has malfunctioned, makes it that much easier.

I just went to Alienware's site and configured a computer with almost the same stats as the one I plan on building in December and it was already reaching $3000. I was surprised they didn't have the GTX 285 or even the 290 even though it isn't too much better.

The price on my configuration on newegg isn't even pushing $1500. I'll take that and the tech support can find through google.

I was one of the first people to get the M17x, got the black aluminum versoin, and all I can say is, It IS GODLY. I dont really mind the weight or the power lifetime, because, well, ITS A DESKTOP REPLACEMENT. And it just freakin looks awesome. People are especially amused by the light tricks on this laptop, it's one of the first things I show them lol.
