Okay, so I didn't actually listen to video, didn't want to wake the kids, But I can assume she is saying the same thing I do, "this is relevent!" But the symbolism and reality of the purse is wonderful and profound!
Perhaps in defiance of the new “trans-media” arts, the search for something new, as a venture itself, can be appealing and satisfying wherever discovery occurs. The artist as creator, curator and critic becomes fodder for self annihilation. But anything that initiates discourse is as valuable as the silence and serenity it contrasts. Just “be!”
From Pollock to Rothko, non-objective art has always been dependent on the analysis of how we experience, as per John Dewey. The compliments are nice, but so is cash. Isn’t the essence of minimalism found in your local house painter, creating an environment that promotes improved living, or fresh beginnings? Once the “non-objective” painting is created, it becomes an object, negating its own label and so-called inherent attributes.
what is so compelling about mimicry? the inner worlds we each contain are far more interesting and vast than merely copying what we think reality is. photography took the place of painted portraiture a hundred years ago. w/ that said, there are a lot of really terrible abstract painters out there.
I'm not trying to start a fight and i don't care about what other people draw but i would really appreciate it if you could draw something real when you have some time.
Abstract art is just easier to paint than objective...
I hope you can understand me because i put some real effort in my works.
I deeply appreciate this video. I love how the artist is continuously saying "For me..." In other words, this is her experience. It's nice to listen to another's experience rather than being overly focused on our own.
im the opposite....id much rather hear what other people think about my art, because i already know what i feel about it. i also think its a load of crap sometimes what people make up to justify their paintings. some even use deep and complicated views on their own works just to get people interested in them....in other words they try to baffle us with bullshit when they probably should leave the art in the eye of the beholder!
A lot of cynics would say that this is the real definition of abstract art: that which you look for 1 minute and hear the artist talk about it for 10.
I have to admit I have a lot of reverse-snobbery on abstract art. I don't consider it unnerving or even specifically inaesthetic (just DIFFERENTLY aesthetic) but I feel like many other people's enjoyment of it is a little contrived for social reasons.
Its so cool to still see new abstract work being made nowadays. It seems like there has been a lot of negative criticism and I'm always excited to see an artist reinvigorate the practice.
How would you defend yourself against a critic denouncing abstract expressionism in favor of either representational work or highly conceptual work?
Your perspective and experience would be enlightening. Great work, it is vibrant and aggressive, reminds me of bright sunlight.
I love the reference to music and painting... the combination can be exhilarating for 'action' painters . When the paint, your body and chords all seem to be in harmony.. thats the 'zone' I love
You've got great taste in colors and musicians as well. Painting to Leonard Cohen... he's one of my favorites too. I'll have to try him as well. Thanks for checking out my work. Enjoying yours.
im not sure, but i think the one on the left is upside down. i dont get why these people ask questions.. they either like it or they dont i wish they'd stop being art geeks. i like the one in the middle.
My art is about discovery. That's the exciting moment for me--when I am totally in the "zone" of the painting process, reacting to the colors and forms on the canvas, and something new emerges. It is exhilarating.
Yes, that is one of the ultimate goals I have as an artist. It is such a rush when the medium you are working with surprises you. For me I see the painting process as a two way street, you are not the only one in control.
It is uncommon to see an artist that has a unique style of their own. When you look at Lynne's work you recognize it as her work and yet she manages to combine colors, shapes and composition like no other artist I have ever seen.
In addition, her works are very diverse. In one work she paints with black and white with unique shapes that come together in an appealing form. In other works she uses colors that are overwhelming and somehow balanced. When I look at it I see greatness.
Lynne's artwok is fantastic as well as her life. I just purchased one of her paintings, SLEIGHT OF MIND FIVE which is extremely vivid. The colors and detail are always lost somewhat in a photo posted on a website. I have spent hours scrolling through her artwork on her website, the forms and colors og together in a way that "works". If you have a moment check out her website, it is extremely well done. Just Google her name!
Not the usual artistic verbal garbage. Well done gal. I know I try to paint. Not as easy as you think, to be original. It looks easy just try it! Like the colourings.
abstract art may not be all bullshit, but there are just so much room for bullshit in abstract art. It's so easy.

Blah blah blah. You paint lines on canvas and when your done what does it look like? Lines on a canvas.

So... what ever happened to blending both objective and subjective? Does no one do that any more?
Personal Opinion: I don't like the paintings from what I can see. They're kinda... boring. ._.

the art is amazing, but is there a video without the audio, so i can enjoy the art? just asking not trying to be mean.
