I purchased an original Don Post Stormtrooper helmet about 20 years ago (didn't get 1 when they originally came out as mom & dad didn't have the money to buy me one) & while it's not spot on, it's one of the most prized pieces in my STAR WARS collection. The cool thing is, the sticker showing the first four masks Don Post made (Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, Chewbacca and C-3PO) is still attached to the inside of the helmet. Stormtroopers armor is by far the coolest armor of any sci-fi movie.
That's awesome that you can see THAT PARTICULAR HELMET in a movie scene. It's like having a little piece of Star Wars history at your fingertips, innit?
U have something to be proud of. Not just cause u did good on the vid but it is rare for me to read through the comments of others and see NO insults of any kind. Awesome.
Can't thank you enough for your information both on your site & on here. I did not have such fantastic resources when I started 'trooping' in '97. The 501st has greatly appreciated your efforts.
I was on this site earlier that auctions original star wars memorbilia from the movies, Dam you better have deep pockets if you want that stuff. The light sabre Darth Vader used went for about $110,000.00 other things were around 80 to 90 grand, that guy who put that patch on the back of that helmet wasn't too smart.
awesome video!! i'm so gonna have to check that site out..and I thought it was awesome that you could see the same helmet in the movie and point out that you were actualy HOLDING the REAL stormtrooper helmet for that scene. its just sweet.
Very nicely done review, Jez. Professional quality composition and voice-over. :-) You also provide a lot of intriguing information about this famous helmet. SDS really lucked out... in the middle of making fish ponds to producing movie screen helmets that would become legendary icons! I'm not surprised that they kept a few for themselves but they are probably kicking themselves for not having kept the molds. ;-)
I've been told this particular helmet, with the patch glued to the back, is on display now until January 10th at 'The Henry Ford' in Dearborn, MI. Our Great Lakes Garrison is supposed to troop the closing day of the exhibit.
Sure HDPE is NOT the best material to use but we know 100% sure that it was as was the best available in the factory at the time (March 1976) for the job, given the tricky undercuts on the back/cap. All the Stunt HDPE helmets have lostpaint which is how you can see the khaki-coloured HDPE showing through!
Please I'd like to know what do you think about the starfortress productions clone trooper phase 2 helmets on ebay without paintjob... any references? thx

that's amazing that you can place where the helmet was used in the trilogy. I wonder where else it was used?

Very interesting and informing. That it could be spotted so well in the movie is very cool indeed!

Not sure how the helmet is made out of "HDPE". It is not the best plastic to thermoform nor does it accept paint well at all.

I have the riddell mini vader helmet featured on your site, i'd like to see one of these videos for a vader helmet :)

If I do manage to get hold of an original Vader helmet then it will most certainly be reviewed.
I'll do a review of a replica too some time but at the moment there's no clear "leader" in the OT Vader pack
Cheers
