  • Those of you who think Shotokan stylists can't defend themselves really need to get on the mat with one of them, say Mikio Yahara for example. Then let us know how that went for you.

  • @Danzakisan Not a good argument. Shiina is a 7th Dan, Yahara is a 9th Dan and both are practically full-time employees of the JKA. How does the average Shotokan Shodan stack up in a self defense scenario?

  • Very nice kata :)

  • i just came accidentally stumbled on the ongoing argument. for my 2 cents worth, i think karasublue makes much more sense to me. iekuktaka, if i also use your same logic then you are very wrong yourself. karate is not okinawan, it's chinese. go to china to really learn the real karate. it's a slippery slope argument, man. you can go to china and start bitching and say that it's not chinese but hey - it's indian! and then you go to india and....hehe. :)

  • It doesn't matter if it's Okinawa, or Hawaii, Karate organisations become politcal because of one thing, ego. JKA is Karate, JKS is Karate, KWF is Karate. It depends where you are and who your teacher is. Okinawan Gojyuryu is Karate. You have to search, some teach sport, and some teach real Budo, It's what ever you want. If your reasonably intelligent you'll work it out for yourself. Don't dignify arrogant cocks like iekukataka as I've just done. What a dick.

  • @IEKUKATAKA I've trained with some brilliant Japan-trained Karateka, (shotokan,) who'd knock you the hell out. I guarantee that. I'm annoyed by your reverse-racist propaganda. You obviously have a hate problem, which goes against the spirit of Karate, and Higaonna Sensei would not agree with anything you have to say, nor the forum for which you're saying it. You are obviously some opinionated gaijin. Try stop being an arrogant, tryhard, knob, and if you can't post your own virtues on youtube, s

  • I love watching this guy spar. LAHJIT.

  • For the many people who are complaining about his lack of dynamics, his basics are flawless. Perfect front stances (impressive at his size) and awesome strength. Especially the open handed grabs/throws/strikes to the back. Grab a UFC fighter and I bet this guy would win. Who needs dynamics when you don't compete? This guy does Karate, not Valdesi-ryu.

  • Do you think a 60-year old, 6th dan would do better? Dan grades simply reflect your experience and knowledge. To the Japanese, black belts, Shodan especially, mean nothing.

  • @IEKUKATAKA Funekoshi studied Karate under Master Itosu, who incorporated Karate into the Okinawan schooling system. Funekoshi founded Shotokan, and if you believe his style is flawed, you may kindly GTFO. Does Shotokan stray from its roots? Duh. Shorin, Shudokan, Shotokan, and Shito are all different, yet their founders all studied under the same man. Things change. Get used to it.

  • @Yamtendo I would not expect an 18 year old to comprehend. I would expect an 18 year old to be a smart ass. I would expect an 18 year old to defend his turf in ignorance. So far, you have been true to form.

  • @IEKUKATAKA You just demonstrated Ad Hominem. You're attacking me, instead of my argument. I argue that the Shotokan style, as well as JKA, is a solid, traditional style of Karate. You "would not expect an 18 year old to comprehend." I am not "defend[ing] my turf," and I cannot, because I study Shudokan style. I'm defending Sensei Shiina's authenticity, and you've presented no evidence to counter my argument. That is, besides looking at my Youtube page.

  • @Yamtendo The issue is that you have no basis for your argument other than what you have been told by others, you are a child. I have studied this art for 47 years, I have forgotten more than you will know. And, you have been true to the form I see in the younger people involved in what they think is karate, they are arrogant and know it all. Additionally, you are a smart ass, can't spell and your history is erroneous. Not impressive at all.

  • @IEKUKATAKA You haven't presented any evidence to attack my arguement...

I can track my lineage before Shotokan existed. I study under Shihan Morris Mack. I don't know why you're calling me a smart ass if all I'm doing is repeating what I've been taught by someone who has trained for literally the same amount of years as you. Google Yakima School of Karate and click on "Lineage" if you want further evidence.

  • @IEKUKATAKA And you're a phoney, old, sack of shit windbag who probably spends more time picking on "children" on youtube, than you do training. And the marines suck giant elephant dick.

  • @ChristopherMonti Believe as you see fit, your own ignorance will be just retaliation for your obviously pathetic comment.

  • @IEKUKATAKA You know where to find me, toughguy. OOH RAH, cocksucker.

  • @ChristopherMonti Contrary to your allegation, I do not participate in that. However, it is clear to see where your mind is.

  • @IEKUKATAKA Yeah? Go twirl your rifle like a highschool cheerleader. Comment-blocking pussy.

  • @ChristopherMonti "Jealousy, why is it you torment me?"

  • @IEKUKATAKA Sir, I have a question, and I ask this with all due respect: I've seen you post quite a few posts about the JKA, which I can see truth in. But you say you are JKA life member. If you have such high objections to JKA and what it's become, why do you still identify yourself as being a member? Again, I ask with utmost respect, just curious.

  • @deek77 An objective question asked in respect deserves an answer. My entire purpose is to warn and inform the general public, huge numbers do not know what I, and many others, know. I want to clarify the activities and purpose of an organization that arrogantly calls itself a karate style. It isn't. My stating that I taught under their umbrella and became a life member allows others to know that I am no stranger to the JKA and, in fact, am quite knowledgable of them. That is the only reason.

  • @IEKUKATAKA Ah I see, many thanks.

  • @deek77 No problem!! Take care.

  • @IEKUKATAKA you actually didnt answer his question, just throwed some general words out there. Like who u are man !?

  • @olev456 You will get over it in time.

  • @IEKUKATAKA That makes sense. But I believe everyone must at some point find the truth in Karate for themselves. Organizations often convince people they're learning the truth when they're in actuality simply participating in a sport. I like your thoughts on this! :)

  • @Yamtendo I do not wish to be oppressive in this regard, but, finding the truth in karate came from Japan, they have to have a mystical element in everythiong they do, read Gorin no sho. The truth in karate is simple, it is an Okinawan martial art. OTHERS have corrupted that simple fact to the degree that all of this BS, Budo nonsense has become thought to be integral. IT ISN'T! If you want to know of karate, find a certifiable Okinawan karate lineage teacher like Morio Higaonna and no other. 2

  • @Yamtendo Accept that delusion and deceit has occured largely at the hands of the JKA and the west and move on. Yep, you may have to face not having a black belt, which is another story. Your knowledge of the truth will arm you for a far better, richer experience. A belt has never defended anyone but good solid training has and it is not in the JKA, they practice a sport with some corrupted karate techniques in it. Do yourself a favor, turn away and turn to a simple truth, karate is Okinawan.

  • Very burly guy - I bet if he hits you, you go flying!

  • ya this guy has got it, thats for sure

  • @BushiWaazup the stances remind me of shotokan performed by a 'rounder' physique. This is a large Japanese man whose stances are very good for senior member of the JKA. If I had this physique and was pushing 50 years old I would not be embaressed. Kase sensei had an awful back stances - but I would not call him 'shodan' level. In fact much of Kase Sensei karate had to be adapted to suit him - Katsutoshi moves remarkably well compared to Kase. Ossu

  • Last point - use youtube and the internet to look up this man - he is a very sucessful kata and kumite competitor in shotokan at the top levels of karate (All-Japan, Shoto cup). I am not JKA but I would not dismiss a 7th Dan JKA senior instructor, Takushoku graduate, highly sucessful karate-ka as a shodan level. Another Youtube 'armchair' ninja - Show me your Jitte, then.

  • este kataa =D!!! xfin encontre uno q me llame la atencion, a comparacion de los otros videos u.u

  • I have just trained with him, at the JKA Gasshuku this past weekend, he is incredible to watch.

  • This is beside the old Jitte Kata performance speed of (45 seconds) the second most fastest performance of Jitte ever.

  • Very good Kata.

Someone said this was at the JKAE national course which I missed :(
