For example, he said that as poor laborers cranked out cheap commodities, the laborers themselves would become poorer---cheapened by the cheapness of the commodities they produced. The average wage-earner today commands more real wealth---in both quality and abundance---than at any point in history. Had you worked as a burger-flipper in 1950, versus doing that today, not only are your wages greater today, but more importantly, they can also *buy* more stuff than they did then---and THAT is the true measure of progress.

We may agree there are problems with this country, but that one isn't among them. And farmers and harvesters earnings are determined by the number of people that do those jobs and how productive they are. If harvesters are hard to find, wages go up to attract more of them. If they're easy to find, wages go down to send them elsewhere. Simple.

@helioncry If the power were not there to be purchased, they could not have purchased it. Money does have purchasing power yes, but it does not have the power of the state, the "legal" use of force. When money buys state power, that's when we get problems. Most of these corps would not be as large as they if they didn't have the support of the government.

Occupy Wall Street is full of losers. Everyone can't be equal you losers. Not everyone has the same level of intelligence, and abilities. People who have more abilities should make more money. A brain surgeon should certainly make more $ than a manual laborer who has no education at all. A commander should make more money than a grunt. A judge should make more money than a prosecuter. A successful businessman should make more money than an average worker, because they are more innovative.

Society is thinning the heard and competition is getting tough, lots of people will not make it to the 'American Dream', it only has so many openings now. The average wage-earner today commands more real wealth---in both quality and abundance---than at any point in history. We may agree there are problems with this country, but that one isn't among them. And farmers and harvesters earnings are determined by the number of people that do those jobs and how productive they are. If harvesters are hard to find, wages go up to attract more of them. When money buys state power, that's when we get problems. Most of these corps would not be as large as they if they didn't have the support of the government.

Occupy Wall Street is full of losers. Everyone can't be equal you losers. Not everyone has the same level of intelligence, and abilities. People who have more abilities should make more money. A brain surgeon should certainly make more $ than a manual laborer who has no education at all. A commander should make more money than a grunt. A judge should make more money than a prosecuter. A successful businessman should make more money than an average worker, because they are more innovative.

Society is thinning the heard and competition is getting tough, lots of people will not make it to the 'American Dream', it only has so many openings now. She has stock option and it is her responsibility to make the company better so her stock grows. She can fail and make the company go bankrupt and not make any money. Fed reserve leds .02% interest rates (Gov.promotion) to banks. Banks distributed the money at low rates as subprime mortgage rates with adjustable rates. The people who got them consumed more than they could realistically afford and led to higher interest rates disposable income rates dropped and credit ratings dropped.-Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac started by government don't exactly blame banks.Irresponsible spending led to depression.
