You could be right. But my instinct tells me that could very well be the ending. It's possibly the only route that makes sense to the majority of audience and one that makes for good bitter sweet drama. Just look at Thea Gill and Don Payne. They look the perfect homemakers and don't really lend themselves to a fiery story of passion and elopement.
