Once George Lucas passes the baton to someone else or the property is no longer tied to "Lucas" (like Frankenstein, Clash of the Titans, or Star Trek) someone will make a new version of it. Really simple actually. I created a 3D background plate that resembled the platform they were standing on and I cut the characters out of the end of the duel and put them on the foreground plate. I re-rotoscoped the lightsaber and voila!
