  • Thats one way to skip border patrol.

  • 280 mph...

    In a lincoln continental.

  • im kenny powers and you're fucking out !!

  • Como as coisas antigamente era mal feitas... o carro se despedaça cortando um para quedas.

  • They spend a million dollars to prove a redneck's stupidity. Good idea in my opinion. :D

  • Comment removed

  • The parachute opened and immediately stopped all forward travel, bringing it down, that quick jerk from the chute is likely what broke his back. When people break their back in an accident, they never walk again, when idiots do it in a stunt, not only do they fully heal, but they repeat the stupid activity that caused it!

  • Kenny powers is in that car.He broke his back, but not his spirit.

  • What's the last thing you hear before a redneck dies?...Hey everybody! Watch this!!!!!

  • failier

  • You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that one was not going to work!

  • * cue The Price is Right horn*

  • of all the cars in the world, why would anyone choose a Lincon for this? It's heavy as a lead brick ( and about as aerodynamic) and its balance point is all wrong.

  • That's what happens when you use the kind of car your grandma drives to jumps rivers.

  • DUMB AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • god he only whent 10 feet across the river

  • @videopostingperson Good job troll good job.

  • @videopostingperson Wow a comment over 1 year ago, You're obviously a fucking retard if you comment something from a YEAR AGO.

  • @videopostingperson What are you talking about you inbred? How am I the dumbass when you can't even spell right.

  • can only guess what happens before i watch the video (FAIL)

  • just fail FAIL!

  • the wings dont do shit! they actually contribite to the failure

  • hmmm 4 years of planning?

you think they would of thought:maybe we should make a car meant to fly, and not just put some shitty ass wings on a continental and hope it fly's.

  • Not one person involved in this stunt stopped to take a look at what they were actually trying to attempt? How do you get so many people to do something so stupid?

  • they should probly get common sense before trying another stunt

  • well fail

  • lincoln continentals arent aerodynamiclly stable at 280 miles per hour, he should of used a corvette.

  • carl was lucky, he broke his back

  • he needs bigger wings

  • Not exactly a Science Rocketitist

  • yup..../your husband is a jackass....

  • Yup, no shortage of stupid when it comes to our species.

  • broken back..yeah right.. carry him the way they did with a broken back..did i make it !!! no not even close you loser..and no the crowds piss off

  • What a fuckwitt..as if that thing would make that distance..bad calculations and prep..land on the island!! no crash on the island

  • Did I make it? Is everybody pleased? Mate you're an idiot.

  • lincoln...ur first mistake

  • nice idea... ... bad conversion ..

  • I remember this, the ramp has some very bad bumps at the start where it became steep, these caused the bodywork to crack and this combined with the force of the air after leaving the ramp caused the rear of the car to disentegrate and the parachutes came out by default saving Kennys life, he never actually pulled them. The car was supposed to hit around 270mph I think but fell along way short only hitting 170-180mph. It was part of a film-documentary called "The Devil at your Heels"

  • catistrofic FAIL

  • hahaha XD that was really fail

  • LOL the Aerospace Engineers kept hanging up the phone! Besides, that would have put them over-budget anyway. ;P

  • EPIC FAIL

  • AGREED

  • Body looked like it was made of fiberglass and when the wind came up from under the car it just blew it all to shit. Still a dumb idea though.

  • and the winner of the ''Absolut IDIOT and I have nothing to do with engineering stuff" award is....the Guy In Yellow and his friends....lol..

  • Next week I'll fly a jet into a wall at mach 2

  • they should have had an physical expert who explains them, why this will go fucking wrong!

  • Seem only one miles jump in over 200mph try......not good plan......

  • This is the best idea ever!!!! I wonder why he didn't try it again later. I like how they were all on the OTHER side of the river, IN CASE of a disaster...... they actually thought this would end well!!!!! AWESOME!!!

  • "did I makes it, is everybody pleased", he didn't need a rocket car, he needed a shrink

  • 30g's would kill him

  • it`s like the little wings would of made it fly further ^^

  • that car is mad ugly

  • Yanks...

Why didn't he use a tank? Neither uglier nor heavier...

Wouldn't have been much heavier. And on top of that, when you open the chute just after you've left the ramp - what sort of jump would you expect?

  • this guy didnt think things though did he. cars where not ment to fly also if he was going to make a car fly why choose a brick like a lincoln im pretty sure he was an idiot a very cool concept but it will take more research and thought to ever get such a stunt right.

  • WTF!?$%^&*

  • and he says "in case of disaster" like nothing was going to happen..

  • the adrenaline going up that jump...

    would be amazing.

  • Gee. He didn't make it?

  • Gutted it didn't work.. hahahahah :L

  • i think that his parachute messed up cuz they did it in canada.

  • INSANITY

  • if your honestly watching this shit

  • 10 pound balls, one of the most insane stunts i,ve ever seen. That was death on a stick and he lived, fuckin A.

  • Looks like the same thing that happened to evil kneivel when he attempted the snake river jump

  • THIS IS MANLY.

  • EPIC FAIL

  • "no everybody is not pleased!" next time dont pull the chute.

  • this was definitely some 70s bullshit half assed stunt. wow i cant believe he though he could do it. that car was the last thing they shoulda ever chose to try and fly across a river a mile wide! stupid. just plain stupid.

  • back in the 70s they didn't have the kind of technology we have now. they couldn't tell if he had the right car or speed to make it. so of course he thought he could make it. plus the kind of car that might have made it cost to much for them to buy and just ruin it if it failed

  • King, they had airplanes in 1976, right? And laws of buoyancy and aerodynamics are free for the plucking. Surely they could have made an educated guess better than a Continental.

  • I think they had the technology but they obviously didn't think the stunt out. Just by looking at the scenario and the car starting to go up the ramp I could tell it didn't make sense and didn't work. Just slapping rockets and wings onto a steel car isn't going to take you really anywhere.

  • "Hu-WHA?"- H. Farnsworth, c.3000

  • That's what he gets for cheating!

  • cheating?

  • How in the HELL could anyone have thought that this would go down well?! Of course a Lincoln Continental will disintegrate when exposed to that kind of G-force. Not to mention it has the aerodynamics of a brick.

  • haha. so true. they should have used a corvette or something, but no they use a boat!

he broke his back 8 times now, and all from a continental.

  • holy shit...its real...i thought they just faast forwarded it and shit...

  • why was teh gate there at the end or did they take it off later

  • 2 seconds into the video I knew it spelt disaster

  • lol what a waste of 1m

  • he broke his back 7 times?

    OMFG!!!! die already.

  • poor car =D

  • LMFAO, poor guy lol

  • wow did they know he was goin through the air in a car that could fall apart.....

  • oh hell yes, lets all get liqoured up and jump a river in a lincoln contnetial with a rocket up our ass.this guy got a bad case of redneck fever

  • o..m..f...g

  • sure.. it may be survivable... BUT NOT IN A CAR..........

its not an aeroplane, it's not shaped like an aeroplane its a car with rockets strapped to it. What i want to know is how he managed to convince so many people it was gonna work...

It may have been ok if it were a nasa engineered spaceshuttle.... even they tend to blow up.....

  • it a rear facing collision people have survived to just under 100g's in a controlled setting....it is surviveable, you just need to be flat against something. if you slam into something and suddenly stop....then you are dead

  • that has to be one of the stupidest professional stunt ever tried.

  • very dangerous bro

  • you're all idiots.. the USAF has done sled testing well beyond 50gs to determine the health risks of such behavior. in montreal, formula 1 driver Robert Kubica experienced over 100gs in a high-speed collision and suffered little more than a mild concussion. 30gs is certainly survivable

  • it was the wings that made him crash it had to much of an updraft

  • 30 g's is fatal

astronaughts are only trained to 12 g's

    they die after that

    and they're pros

i doubt it went over 10 g's tbh

  • 9 for astronauts and 12 for pilots in jets

  • LOL 30G's. Bullshit, 30 times the force of gravity will crush him to jam not to mention 7G's = blackout. At that alone he should have known not to do it.

  • nice!

  • hahaha why did the shoots release! he woulda made it! nice ramp.... retard? balls of steel more like it buddy.

  • omg nooob! noooob!

  • one word... retard

  • The best kind of retard though.. One that doesn't mind making a dickhead of himself and filming it :-}

  • retard.. c'mon man in a lincoln continental?!

  • b4 dey do shit stuff like dat they shuld make sure they use commem sense, that prik

  • Definitely the coolest thing I've seen today!

  • i wonder if he was high when he agreed to do this lol

  • notice how the narrater uses his voice to influence an emotional response to somthing that is just plain dogshit !! !!!!

  • fucken seriously stupid people

  • WoW! That was Killer!!!

  • And if he made it to the other side. How about the landing over there?

  • jump 1 MILE! jesus people were stupid in the 70's

  • It's hardly a "world record rocket car jump" if he failed, is it?

  • f*** kenny powers he sucks balls

  • Hahah

  • fuck it.... thats not a car, thats basically a plane... it even has the wings... not exactly the most aerodynamic car though :D

  • cool

  • cant say i would have tried it.. =p

  • He didn't really think it through now did he lol

  • this guy is a king amoungst men doing this regardless of an obvious outcome a true hero with a broken spine.

  • How is he a hero? Who did he help?

    He's an idiot.

  • AHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • cool

  • they are so crazy

  • haha

  • This is from a doco called "Devil at your heels". It is very Much like Spinal Tap but true. If you think the jump is funny you should see the doco (it even features Evil Kenevil telling Ken Carter - who was supposed to make the jump - that he was insane).

  • To make a car fly they would need some C4 Rockets, jets , and a retarded to drive...

  • they practically chose the heaviest car they could

  • A quote from Mel Tillis from the movie CANNONBALL RUN. . ."All puttin' the car in the th th the water did was was wa make ma make it pr pr pr pr pr pretty".

  • Parachutes don't work all that well after a car roof flies through them, I don't think...

  • Or the dick the size of a meter stick.

  • 30+ years later, I wonder if it can actually be done? Thwt was pretty freakin crazy though!

  • -_- cars can't fly 1.61km with 450km/h. There would need to be at least a surface area of 15m squared for about a 2000kg car to get anywhere near that mark... Then its all about angles etc.

  • You'd need balls the size of grapefruits to do that!

  • ahaha! It's so retarded.

  • This attempt was doomed from the beginning, what were they thinking?

  • the car like blew apart from the speed he lucky it did that cus the landing on the outher side woudl of killed him.

  • That, plus the excessive rocket power pushed the rear of the vehicle right over itself. At the point of reaching the end of the ramp, the amount of thrust should have been reduced. Anyhow, a car isn't even designed to handle that kind of force. The body shape isn't right, and the skins need to be attached in a similar manner of an aircraft.

I do however, admire his attempt. I certainly wouldn't have done it.

  • who ever disgned that ramp was an idiot, all the curves were wrong

    thats why he flipped
