It was only on Panasonic 3DO for the longest time then it got ported to Street Fighter Collection for ps1 sega saturn. Keyboard Controls should be like this, my way, easy: A =light punch, S = med punch, D = Hard punch F = All three punch buttons
Start can be what ever now do what it says for akuma make sure its anniversry or hyper street fighter set it to S Turbo, and whatever speed you want then do the akuma selection proess when you get back to ryu press start and F (3 punch buttons) at the same time then viola you have akuma ;)
@shamanlei78 Yep. I've got all the other keys assigned fine. The funny thing is, I used to be able to pick Akuma by pushing ASD after start, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore.
Well try using the Key 'F' its assigned to use all 3 punch buttons so just press the F not all ASD because the PC cannot like puck-up more than 3 keys being pused at a time, so to avoid that use the F key it helps loads, well i hoped it did to you :P
I can't assign a key to use all 3 punch buttons on MAME, but I managed to make it work. I press 1 for start, and then quickly release it and then press ASD. Usually works.
I tried assigning all three punch buttons and the start button to respond to the "A" key as well as their normal inputs, and it still won't work. Do you need to have beaten Akuma to play as him?
@ovkenike actually what I meant was that there are two different SSF2 for the SNES the first version just has M. Bison as the end boss and the second "TURBO" version has akuma as the end boss I know because My brother and I have actually played the first version and not seen akuma pop out and beat the $hit out of Bison, which I had already told him was supposed to happen the turbo version is also what on CAPCOM CLASSICS Vol. 2

@MrGeassR2 I remember, when these games were still coming out, getting upset because new version kept coming out and there was very little difference between them so I felt kinda ripped off. The biggest change came with Super Turbo and of coursssse, it wasn't for the SNES and I didn't have real arcades near where I lived so I didn't get to play that version till years later.

It isn't stupid. Akuma is a "broken" character and it's soft banned from SSF2T tournys. Do you think it's hard to choose because he has a bad-boy image?
i understand but shouldn't they have just made a regular select on the home versions. they could keep him out of the arcade versions but i think on the ps2 and snes versions or whatever they should have just had a easier select
Figured i'd respond to this: Akuma's air fireball totally breaks the game, the ST engine wasn't really designed for it and most characters can't do anything about it. He also has a fierce red fireball lockdown if you can consistantly kara-cancel it with an lp for much less recovery time. Add that to some pretty crazy hitboxes, the fact he can't be dizzied (he recovers straight away) and some instant dizzy combos and you have yourself a banned character that should barely even be seen in casuals.
@iseetacos he was a hidden character, that was the whole idea to him, when he did become a selectable in later games, they toned him down to fit in with the rest of them, shame really, they should have left him alone!
The general rule is 3 seconds on Ryu, T-Hawk, Guile and Cammy, then 5 seconds when you go back onto Ryu - that way 100% ensures you get Akuma/Gouki everytime. then after that press start and all three punches at the same time yes i said the same time it will work, when counting say 1 mississsippi 2 mississippi and etc IT WILL WORK!!!
this is easy to do. i got hyper street fighter 2 and choosing akuma is easy. For when you press the start and hold it and after like a second of holding it and press the ppp button. The default button for it is L1 i believe so yea. Hold start then press the L1 button after holding it for like 1 second
dude its weird. i got a dreamcast emulator and i also the the rom for ssf2X. when i choose gouki all i do is go to ryu press all the punch buttons and start and thats it.
if it's a ps2 you have you highlight those characters for the time it shows and go back to ryu and press start, triangle, square and R1 [high punch] (remember to keep ryu highlighted for a while at the beginning, R1 also works as a punch button for the hadouken only it goes faster then when you press light/medium punch)
I think it's time to remove this ban on Gouki in tournaments; they'd just play him like the other shotos anyway. I saw BAT (a Sim player) beat a Gouki player in both rounds. He didn't even know how to abuse any of his advantages, and I doubt many do.
i did like in the description with start and 3 punchbuttons but it works after the 5th try. after 2 tries i saved the status with shift+F7 when i was back on ryu with the selecting. if dont work i load the status with F7 and pusch the buttons again until it works. its a hart timing

yes you can, all you have to do is to set the 3 punches in the same button. If you are using the new versions of M.A.M.E you can even secet 2 buttons per Punch or Kick, like:
Lp: nun Pad 7 + i
Mp: nun Pad 8 + i
Hp: nun Pad 9 + 1
To do this all you have to do is go to the mame config menu, in the controls menu and assign the first key for the Punch and right after it, enter again and asign a new one.
back in the good ol days of SFII, Akuma was meant to be a mystery. You saw his portrait in the intro, and when you finish the game, you see him again at the end of the credits. If you grew up with the game, you would know how exciting it was to see a new fighter in the roster, especially one that nobody knew about.

Is emulation talk even allowed on YouTube? Ack, I dunno - either way, you need both the ST ROM, and the the SSF2 ROM (since ST was just an update), if you are using an old version of MAME you'll need the older ROM sets also since they got updated to run without XOR's not so long ago.

Super Street Fighter 2.....OR you have Street Fighter 2 Turbo. There is no Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo for the SNES.

It isn't stupid. Akuma is a "broken" character and it's soft banned from SSF2T tournys. Do you think it's hard to choose because he has a bad-boy image?

i understand but shouldn't they have just made a regular select on the home versions. they could keep him out of the arcade versions but i think on the ps2 and snes versions or whatever they should have just had a easier select

They did. On the Sega Saturn versions, all you have to do is hold the "left" button on the top of the controller and then press "right".

Figured i'd respond to this: Akuma's air fireball totally breaks the game, the ST engine wasn't really designed for it and most characters can't do anything about it. He also has a fierce red fireball lockdown if you can consistantly kara-cancel it with an lp for much less recovery time. Add that to some pretty crazy hitboxes, the fact he can't be dizzied (he recovers straight away) and some instant dizzy combos and you have yourself a banned character that should barely even be seen in casuals.

@iseetacos he was a hidden character, that was the whole idea to him, when he did become a selectable in later games, they toned him down to fit in with the rest of them, shame really, they should have left him alone!

The general rule is 3 seconds on Ryu, T-Hawk, Guile and Cammy, then 5 seconds when you go back onto Ryu - that way 100% ensures you get Akuma/Gouki everytime. then after that press start and all three punches at the same time yes i said the same time it will work, when counting say 1 mississsippi 2 mississippi and etc IT WILL WORK!!!

this is easy to do. i got hyper street fighter 2 and choosing akuma is easy. For when you press the start and hold it and after like a second of holding it and press the ppp button. The default button for it is L1 i believe so yea. Hold start then press the L1 button after holding it for like 1 second

only shin akuma can do that and he's not unlockable here.
of course, in sf4 the zankuu hadouken is an ex move (but i don't know if it's possible to hit the opponent with both fireballs) ;)

dude its weird. i got a dreamcast emulator and i also the the rom for ssf2X. when i choose gouki all i do is go to ryu press all the punch buttons and start and thats it.

if it's a ps2 you have you highlight those characters for the time it shows and go back to ryu and press start, triangle, square and R1 [high punch] (remember to keep ryu highlighted for a while at the beginning, R1 also works as a punch button for the hadouken only it goes faster then when you press light/medium punch)

I think it's time to remove this ban on Gouki in tournaments; they'd just play him like the other shotos anyway. I saw BAT (a Sim player) beat a Gouki player in both rounds. He didn't even know how to abuse any of his advantages, and I doubt many do.

i did like in the description with start and 3 punchbuttons but it works after the 5th try. after 2 tries i saved the status with shift+F7 when i was back on ryu with the selecting. if dont work i load the status with F7 and pusch the buttons again until it works. its a hart timing

Also, make sure all the times you stay on the characters are the same. If you've waited 7 seconds on one character, wait 7 seconds on the other.

yes you can, all you have to do is to set the 3 punches in the same button. If you are using the new versions of M.A.M.E you can even secet 2 buttons per Punch or Kick, like:
Lp: nun Pad 7 + i
Mp: nun Pad 8 + i
Hp: nun Pad 9 + 1
To do this all you have to do is go to the mame config menu, in the controls menu and assign the first key for the Punch and right after it, enter again and asign a new one.

back in the good ol days of SFII, Akuma was meant to be a mystery. You saw his portrait in the intro, and when you finish the game, you see him again at the end of the credits. If you grew up with the game, you would know how exciting it was to see a new fighter in the roster, especially one that nobody knew about.

Is emulation talk even allowed on YouTube? Ack, I dunno - either way, you need both the ST ROM, and the the SSF2 ROM (since ST was just an update), if you are using an old version of MAME you'll need the older ROM sets also since they got updated to run without XOR's not so long ago.

4sisbro i am a gaming freak, if you want this game you need to go to romnation dot net and go to roms, then go to arcade/mame roms and download super street fighter 2- the new challengers (super street fighter 2 turbo is included in this package) if you need a emulator to play i suggest final burn alpha, just look it up on google
