i grew up in the 60's and 70's my parents were always playing 50's and 60's music on their radiogram player so i got to hear a real diverse taste in music that i still have today i am always on the look out for songs and this one i never have heard before its a fantastic tune so many treasures to find and enjoy thanks for posting
Loved Suspicion but ill Touch A Star was just a beautiful song. Still got the London 45 in my record collection. Terry Stafford was a really great singer...
You know, I've been longing for this song for a long long time. I couldn't remember the title of this song until I had surfed this YouTube listening to "Star Light Star Bright" by Maureen Evans. It was a kind of a tip to my lips and then broken out with a word of star. Thanks for uploading. Bringing back my good memories.
Thank you so much for posting-I really like this song (in addition to Terry's Suspicion). Somehow I missed this in 1964, but then again '64 was a terrific year for music and me as I had just turned 16 and got my first car, a 1955 Chevy. Wow, what great memories . . . thanks.
RIP Dolores Fuller at 88, may 9, 2011. . Her eclectic and offbeat career touched cult-movie bases from Elvis to Ed Wood. She starrred in Ed's 50's flicks Glen or Glenda & Jailbait & was a model on Queen For A Day. In the 60's she co-wrote 13 Elvis songs including RockA Hula Baby, I Got Lucky, Spinout, & Do the Clam. She also wrote Terry Stafford's followup hit I'll Touch A star.
SUSPICION CHARTED OUT AT #6 ON 4/4/64 AND LATER REACHED TO #3. HIS FOLLOW UP(IT WAS HIS FOLLOW-UP HIT), "I'LL TOUCH A STAR ONLY GOT TO #25 BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS AS GOOD AS HIS PREVIOUS HIT OR ANY SONG I'VE EVER HEARD. SAD TO SEE HIM GO.
FOLLOW UP HIT TO SUSPICION. AFTER THAT, THE RADIO STATIONS IN MY AREA NEVER PLAYED ANY FUTHER SONGS OF HIS. ITS NICE TO HEAR THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME. HE WAS A FIRST RATE SINGER. AND "I'LL TOUCH A STAR" IS ONE THE BEST SONGS EVER RECORDED.
What wonderful music Terry Stafford had, this song I'll touch a Star was on one of my CD's and for years I throught it was Elvis, and the cd is getting old and i want to replace it so when i started looking to purchase it could'nt find it under Elvis, but this name came up. Amazing!!!! hope i can still buy this cd?
terry we still listen to you,and love all the great music you made, someday we will all meet and keep dancing to the greatest music and songs ever made, rest in peace mr.stafford we loved ya
Screw sounded like....... he sounded like Terry Stafford and was damn good, gave many people some damn good memories of school, of course school sucked and V. Nam was a turning point in many lives, but the songs go on that made you feel good. Thanks Terry!!
My first time to this tune - there's more featured organ in this than Runaway by Del Shannon. I worked at an oldies station for a while and they didn't have this. Quite nice - I'll keep my eye for a copy.
Great Song. What a star. He sounded like elvise, so he was Terry Stafford and souded lik ELVIS! Terry had the talent to wirte and Elvis had so voice. My vote is with Stafford.
loupi52!!!!!! I feel llike I am touching a star when I hear this sound. It is just gorgeous!! THANK YOU FOR BRINGING HAPPINESS TO OUR LISTENERS AROUND THE WORLD!!!
Actually the singing here is better than Elvis...Why ? Listen for the overall tone & flexing of the notes....the tension sounds better too. Sorry, Elvis fans !
I liked "Suspicion." I liked this one to the extent that it is one of the hundreds I constantly hum, even though I hadn't heard it in decades. Oh, and I craved "Amarillo by Morning" long before George Strait remade it. Did Terry also do a version of "Sweet Gypsy Rose"?
Better then the Pretzel. Suspicion is better than anything Elvis did. My mom loved Elvis and she didn't like rock and roll .. what does that tell you about little elvis?
really like this i know he ws known as an elvis soundalike but he sure couuld stand alone as a singer in his own right always people are comparing just enjoy the song thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great memory of Aug 1964 when the best thing in my life happened. I met my wife and shared this song. She passed in March 2008 and I listen to all these great oldies to keep her constantly on my mind. Herb...Arlington, Tx.
@ELVISFREE1977 Terry Stafford never was and never wanted to be an Elvis Impersonator. He was a great song writer and his songs were recorded by George Strait and Buck Owens. He was a wonderful soul. RIP Terry.
when i first heard this song back in 1964, i thaught it was elvis had redone a better version then the one he did in 1962 in one of his albums, later to find out that it was terry stafford singing it and even reached in the top 25 on the us billboard charts in 1964 . i must say that terry does this song awesome !! great upload
Terry outsold Elvis with the Kings Suspicion and I thought this would be a stone smash but it wasnt.Anybody remember the original amarillo by morning another great song that terry originally recorded in the early seventies that hardly got any airplay till George strait covered it...
I love this song - a great follow up to Suspicion. This song was released on May 23, 1964, and peaked at #25 on the Billboard chart. Terry never made the top 100 after that.
Almost forgot this one! Thanks.
