bruce lee: "this is like agony in despair, like dry land swimming" painful to watch and not relevant to real life fighting
bruce lee: "you cannot predict a move, you can only react to it"
why not get into protective clothes and go all out to train your MENTALITY in fighting. Easy to show moves on a neutral person but will you be as receptive on a real guy pulling out a knife. i.e youre mentality is not prepared for a real fight.
once you have traind for a long time u dont need a dummy unless ur a beginner and showin off sure yes...and if a tap happens thats ok becoz it will stick to ur head just like boxers get hit on thr head every time thr hands drop down nice clip
What I don't understand is, why is that guy wearing short shorts? I remember during the 70s and 80s they were short but I don't remember them being that short?!
I'd love to live in a country like yours, where attackers apparently don't move at all. It must be fantastic...I can't even begin to count the times I've come home from training with bruises all over my body because my opponents were inconsiderate enough to actually hit, kick, block and counter:-)
I can tell you have a lot of skill in other marital arts but unfortunately this is not Wing Chun. The stance turning is very poorly done and the hand techniques are very poorly done and do not apply to priciples of Wing Chun.
You should leave the kickboxing part in the name but take the Wing Chun part out because it discredits your video and it makes you look like you don't know what your talking about when I'm sure you clearly do.
@drjones694 What, do the techniques here look a little too snappy to be real Wing Chun? It seems so ridiculous to me to hear WC practioners talk about how this or Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, etc., aren't authentic/traditional/proper Wing Chun... so what? Do the techniques work? Are they practical? And not just against other WC stylists, mind you? Who, by the way, would you recommend looking at as a good example of a Wing Chun stylist?
control is having a practiced ability to control your body and make precision strikes when necessary, he's not training himself to miss he is training himself where to strike so if he wants to he can strike with accuracy and power in a more effective way then the person who just learns to hit, generally
@zeravfly he is about as far from a master of anything as ive ever seen. What hes doing here is sport karate kicks which were never very effective in the first place. He reminds me of many of the fantasist martial artists weve all met who cant fight sleep but are worshipped by their lame students.
what a load of sh i te... this guy is in dream land... the problem with training like this is it programs the body to NOT touch the opponent. It trains in an extra layer of information that is of no use to the martial artist. Boxers do not train like this... MMA etc etc. This is a recipe for blocking up decent fighters. Use a bag, each other in full contact and work hard in reality.
@chinaaccenthk it teaches control, which is in many way more important than wailing away and mma is just mixed martial arts which could almost qualify anything
Still remember me, It's Me danny same with puput ..Lol
Nice Kick, - Your Knee is the EYE of the Kick, Where it point, there's the kick landed, throw your Kick With power of your back and HiP, the result is BAM ..
You can hear his strength in his voice from 3:00 to 3:05 each time he does that pushin kick, that's how you know he has built up alot of internal power.
Thanks sir for your comment, yes it sound right, this guy is very fast and very powerful, I good point to understand about this guy anybody can be powerful but to be natural, soft and powerful that mean a lot .
better to use a training dummy for those times when you get just a little too close, not real hits, but even brushes or taps can cause doubt in your partner, and an accident can ruin your whole day.
Counter attacks land fast to the target, sometimes they turns into an excellent experience. Calasanz gave lessons to hundreds of fighters, all based on simplicity and uniqueness, that is called sharp counter attacks, which again a tap is good but still the opponent continue fighting a little longer.
that's not what I meant. I meant practing fast control shots against a dummies face or neck is safer than doing it to a real person just to show off. if you are going to almost hit something, why not use a dummy?
I am not putting down his skills but that shifting step would look good on the dance floor. Play some music while watching this clip & see what I mean.
A quick question, at 3:05 when doing the forward kick to the stomach or chest, wouldn't using the flat part of your foot or your heel have the same affect and be safer for your toes? Like how you would kick a door down, Idk if I'd use the ball of my foot like that, might brake a toe. Unless it's used differently somehow?
You certainly could do the kick with the flat part of your foot or heel, and it would be safer for your toes. I would recommend the heel because it concentrates the force into a smaller area, causing more damage then a flat foot which dissipates the force over the entire foot.
Using the ball of the foot, as in the video, takes practice and conditioning but can be used to add another 1-2" of reach over the heel.
Thanks very much for your comment, you probably saw the head line, part wing chun and kickboxing, also a lot of Karate. Calasanz is one of the few well balanced martial artist.
you are very talented with your legs in this video - don't pay attention the negative comments. I am a wing chun practitioner but I can always appreciate when I see a proper high kick executed well. I look forward to more video sharing - I love youtube.

Sir I bet you that you like Bruce Lee, ask yourself this question, what is chinese boxing? Bruce Lee was forced to come up with a more competitive style other than traditional wing chun, that was chinese. At that time martial arts was not so refined here in America but there were good karate guys, so he started training on what he called Chinese boxing, you can call what I am doing Chenise boxing, or call it wing chun if you want.
The most noblest and idealistic thing to do, is not to equate yourself to other system of martial art. Especially so when you "merely borrow" a technique or two from that martial art. Karate is Karate; Wing Chun is Wing Chun.
Guys, I trained with Calazanz for 3 years in Wing Chun, he actuallly improves the old methods and let me tell you some thing I am 6'1", 240lbs and I sparred with him many times and he hits like a brickshit house, fast the best teather I have ever seen.
im totally confused.its not wing chun and if it were then this guy would realize how ineffective these high kicks are.great in the movies and against an unskilled opponent but will get ya slaughtered against any half decent fighter.especially one trained in wing chun.
well.....that depends on how fast you are and if you know how to use them in a combination. i don't know anything about wing chun, but this guys kicks are really good. i wouldn't want to mess with him.
if he si pivoting on his heels like that he is out of ballance its excactlu what our teachers showed us how it is wrong, its almost a nightmare how ignorrant this teacher is about wing chun
I'm pretty sure the sounds come from his vinyl or nylon jacket; they tend to sound like that with even small movements. You can tell the guy generates some good power though; nice speed.
Seems to be a really good fighter! ^^
