China is notorious for producing counterfeit items of anything and everything. From action figures, to electronics, to clothing, fakes seem to be an everyday occurrence there. Now that being said, "Made in China" does not always mean poor quality. I have used many quality products that were made in China.

The real irony, however, is that authentic iPods are assembled in China. So the fakes and the real ones come from the same place, although part origin of the authentic iPods is unknown.

The safest way to buy an iPod is obviously to buy one from their official website. My father bought mine on eBay and luckily the seller wasn't lying and it was authentic. I hope Apple sues those fakes, they are way too similar in appearance.
