I have never danced with anyone all my life and wish to keep it that way - but if this Alice was this age now, knew me and wanted to dance with me I would accept without question.
Steve Allen pushed this already well developed project into legendary television status. NBC put the proper development and money into this incredibly well produced miniseries. An incomparable cast-- most of them just about to ride off into the sunset of their tv careers, making one last go of it here; so bittersweet and beautiful. This lyrics and music of this song are particularly gorgeous. Perfect wedding dance music for a grandpa and his princess.
The White Knight is always one of my favorite Alice characters. I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis Carroll intended the absent-minded, eccentric, valiant knight to be how he inserted himself into the story, as many childrens' authors do.
@ObiWanBillKenobi Yeah, that's a possibility. Kind of like how, in 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,' C.S. Lewis rather clearly intended for the Professor in it to be a nod to himself.
I hadn't seen this movie in over 20 years until tonight and it's still wonderful...much better than the 2010 version (no offense to those that like it).
Hey!!! I remember this show! My all time FAV. Version of Alice in Wonderland! (of course disney too) But this is the one with Carol Channing! Thanks for sharing! ^_^ wish i owned this one..Ooo and cant wait for the remake w/Johnny Depp!
I think the version with Johnny Depp is meant to be more whimsical and CGI... The one here is a major two part musical adaptation (key word) . . . and actually, the white knight appears in the second book "Alice Through The Looking Glass" not "Alice in Wonderland" . . .
This was always my favorite version of Alice and Wonderland. I ran across the DVD and had to get it, and I'm so glad I did! Wonderful songs and performances, and this was one of my favorite parts.
OMG! How did you find this movie?! I saw it when I was little and I remember the funniest part still I think Alice introduced herself and Humpty Dumpty said "WHAT A STUPID NAME!"
^.^ The movie was easy to find. Interesting that so many people don't know how to find this movie. It's famous because of Steve Allen's involvement in all the songs.
You can find this for sale on Amazon, I think for 6 bucks and it's both parts.
This brings back SO many memories!!! My parents taped this movie when I was little, but we've lost it now, so I haven't seen it in years. Such a flashback.
OMG, I *love* this version of Alice in Wonderland. My mom taped it off cable way-back-when... Unfortunately, the second half is all messed up. Man, this thing came out the year I was born... I feel so old. LOL

there's another title to this, as it is called "Looking through the looking glass" and the plot of this really portrays and illustrates it.

I wonder if that version will have the White Knight in it? If so, I hope he's as charming as he is in this!

Is that a younger Robert Duval in old man make up?

Actually, this would be Lloyd Bridges playing the White Knight. His son, Beau, played The Unicorn in this same production.
