can somebody help me ? i have toshiba laptopo intel gma and i want to improve video card size, it shows 64mb but realy it have 1gb if somebody help me write me inbox, thanx
@TheBetaFox youre right. Under normal use it does work. I installed Windows 7 ULTIMATE on a Dell Desktop with Pentium 4 processor and 512MB of RAM. Of course Aero does not work but It runs most daily normal use apps like Google Chrome, Firefox, (Can watch youtube videos fine and even watch streamed wideos too). Runs latest Yahoo Messenger 11 fine, Skype, Oovoo (video calls with webcam works fairly fine). For office applications I use Open office and it works fairly fine, Not fast but works okay.
@MrVamsi2 i just uploaded a video of my desktop running windows 7 home premium on 512 ram and one core intel 3ghz processor and 64 MB shared intergrated graphics card. but no aero because of the system check and says my graphic drive cant handle it
@LooperNor If it makes no difference weather or not its running in a VM, get a computer with low specs and install it on it. Bam, problem solved. I would love to see that.
@MrHarrypotter45 it will only work if you have a different OS that will run on 512MB RAM and install a virtual machine on that and run windows 7 in that virtual machine
IT WILL NOT WORK but if it does, not smoothly. unexpected Crashes/Errors and unstable softwares may appear on 512 MB of ram, also windows will be slow as hell.
maybe if it were on a real system instead of virtual it wouldnt run but i dunno on the microsoft website it says u need 1 gb sys ram and 128mb vid ram
@LooperNor thats funny since i know at startup windows 7 eats up 1.10GB of RAM... so yeah id say if you were for real, it would have to be a tweaked version of windows 7 and not the actual public retail version
@GamerMGO i agree, running stuff in virtual machines has less ram and processor requirements... its really not the same as having it directly on the machine, and virtual machines are really just to "virtualize" the experience if you were to use the OS in it.... like if you want to test out linux before actually installing it, or if you wanted to see if a game ran on a different OS (thats what developers use virtual machines for... programming lol) so yeah this video is fake lol
@PCHintsandTips So... You think that VM's are different to Real machines?
Yes they are different in the fact that they are slower than native machines
No, they will not make a OS different, VM's Stand for Virtual Machine this means you have a whole software emulated "box" on the host OS, The VM OS see's this as a standard computer, The reason for VM's are for testing and cheap server boxes (VPS) Just out of question:
"I did work with the companies that made them virtual machines"
@PCHintsandTips Care to share Whom you work for? - Given your obvious lack of knowledge on this subject I doubt you have anything to do with any companies in the field whatsoever.
@PCHintsandTips Please stop embaressing yourself. You obviously know nothing about computers.
If you allocate 512mb of RAM to your virtual machine, that is how much RAM it will provide to the guest OS. The operating system running on the VM platform does not know it is running in a VM, and even if it did it wouldn't suddenly decrease its hardware requirements. When an OS runs inside a VM, it is identical to having a computer with the resources you allocate to the VM.
Running it virtually, if anything, makes it require more than require less. You're a dumbass who thinks he's great with computers and doesn't admit he's wrong when he's presented with the proof he asks for.
@MegaCamu Well............... :O It just sucks!!!!! XP starts on 45 seconds...... win 7 starts in 1 minute and 11 seconds + that the applications are really slow , much slower than the SLOW xp !!!!!! I Just uninstalled it (The Windows Expririence Inex (or something like that) scores 2.0 my PC!!! (2.0 is the worst rating!)

can i run windows7 with a 894 RAM and with a 256MB OnBoard VGA?? I don't think that win7 will take 16GBs! My friend told me that it takes 4-8 GB!! Will it?? My PC SPECS!!! _______________ Intel(R) Pentium4 Motherboard 894MB of RAM! 256MB of VGA! ATI RADEON 200 XPRESS! 3.0 GHz!! Please Help! I hope for an answer tomorrow. (2010/03/03) on 3rd March!! PLS HELP!! I will subscribe and rate 5 stars to any video u want for the helper!!!! Sorry for my bad english! :( PLEASE HELP!!!
It will run, terribly. the video card probably won't allow Aero to run, so you will run on a freaking ugly theme, and because it's a simple pentium 4, it will run terribly slowly. just buy a new computer, you can get one that runs Windows 7 perfectly for $550.
@SonicXRulz (Part 2) Another note, say your computer is using DDR ram (894 MB makes me think that) (DDR2 is faster). The top speed for that is 400 MHz. The bus width is 64 bits. No complaining - these will be estimated. 64 bits(8 bytes) * 400,000,000 / 2 clocks per access = 1.6 Gigabytes per second Maximum. Probably around 1.0 GB/s actual. A normal flash drives writes at about 10 MB/s. That is 102.4 times slower. It is not a permanate solution. I recommend more RAM.
The graphics adapter is FINE. I had 7 running on a computer with 8 MB VRam - it was an older P4 optiplex w/ a GMA 915. I would recommend 2 GB RAM, 1 GB if thats all you can manage, but because then you won't have to worry about anything. I say this because with my docs folder open, google chrome, and my email, my win 7 system is using 1280 MB of RAM. I do have Virtual memory disabled - gives about a 2x speed boost over here
@SonicXRulz Not really, well sort of. Ready boost is a lot like Virtual Memory in that it uses a hard drive or flash drive for RAM. this is a purely software thing, not hardware. First of all Readyboost is evil because it kills flash drives.A Flash ram chip can take about 100,000 erase cycles. Physically you have to erase a part to write to it. Windows may access the flash stick once every 5 seconds. That makes that part of the stick last for about 200 hours, or 8 days of continuous operation.
I have a old gateway intel p3 600mhz 512mb computer , i am going to install windows 7 on it. jUst for kicks. The computer is old as hell, but hey might as well make it look good.
I don't believe this, microsoft always invents os systems that eat a lot of resources,is just a lie to make people install windows 7.Look if your system is ok,what any favorite Os you use,why try windows 7 ? For what ? Is not Gold on your PC and I don't think is faster than Vista or better than xp and how about netbios attacks how can windows 7 handle it ?
i dont see why this should be so amazing. i would expect any modern os to run on those specs. the G RAM is a little low, i would recommend 64 mb but 512 mb is fine. for people that do internet based work that would be fine. ram is cheap so there's no reason not to put two or three gigs for good measure, but if your really on a budget 512 shold be fine. i ran vista on that with a 2 ghz single core with 128 mb of ram and it was fine, as long as i didn't run multiple programs, but 7 > vista.
Hey this is what most people dont get or understand not everyone has a computer that can hold that much RAM and not everyone gets a new computer every other year shit i still have a dell optiplex GX 260 it came out in 2004. I got this like last year so i can get rid of my 1999 gateway computer that ran on windows ME. not every one has that kinda money to be getting new computers like that. This video is to show it is posible. not because it is amazing.
all i said was that it would be better with better specs, but you can run it with those specs no problem. no where did i say that you have to buy a new computer each year, and guess what, i have a dell optiplex GX 150 with a 1 GHZ P3 and 512 MB of Ram running windows 2000 upgraded from NT 4, i know what youre talking about, and btw any computer from 05+ can hold atleast 2 GB of ram. My grandmothers XP MCE 05 PC from 05 uses 2 max and its great. don't assume because you make and ass of u and me.
Great job, i did a similar experiment with a pentium 3 500mhz and 512 ram and ati rage 128 card with 8mb video ram, just to see how low i could go and to prove emeek wrong
hey i also got it. Its cool that you r running win7 in a window inside your vista. But hey which version of 7 is this cos the version i got has a different log on screen. my one is the rc version.
can i run it on 896 mb of ram ;1.81 ghz ;ati radeon 9250 128mb

I have a old gateway intel p3 600mhz 512mb computer , i am going to install windows 7 on it. jUst for kicks. The computer is old as hell, but hey might as well make it look good.
DualCorePower 1 year ago
I don't believe this, microsoft always invents os systems that eat a lot of resources,is just a lie to make people install windows 7.Look if your system is ok,what any favorite Os you use,why try windows 7 ? For what ? Is not Gold on your PC and I don't think is faster than Vista or better than xp and how about netbios attacks how can windows 7 handle it ?
mariusica7273 2 years ago
@mariusica7273 Windows 7 pwns both XP and Vista.. Windows 7 runs great on relatively small hardware specs.
Written from a 2.0 Ghz P4 with 1 gig of ram and onboard graphics..
Mantua64 2 years ago
i dont see why this should be so amazing. i would expect any modern os to run on those specs. the G RAM is a little low, i would recommend 64 mb but 512 mb is fine. for people that do internet based work that would be fine. ram is cheap so there's no reason not to put two or three gigs for good measure, but if your really on a budget 512 shold be fine. i ran vista on that with a 2 ghz single core with 128 mb of ram and it was fine, as long as i didn't run multiple programs, but 7 > vista.

This video is to show it is posible. not because it is amazing.
hobbs312 2 years ago
all i said was that it would be better with better specs, but you can run it with those specs no problem. no where did i say that you have to buy a new computer each year, and guess what, i have a dell optiplex GX 150 with a 1 GHZ P3 and 512 MB of Ram running windows 2000 upgraded from NT 4, i know what youre talking about, and btw any computer from 05+ can hold atleast 2 GB of ram. My grandmothers XP MCE 05 PC from 05 uses 2 max and its great. don't assume because you make and ass of u and me.

my pc is intel celeron 3.06 GHz,512 RAMs, graphic card radeon HD 2600-512, will i be able to run windows 7 and his aero features??
fannatikoss 2 years ago
I think you will, but don't take my word for it.
LooperNor 2 years ago
@fannatikoss
yes but depends on your graphic card
if ur graphic card has Windows7Compatible and Ready logo on it,then u can feel the aero features without causing system unstable

Can I install windows 7 if I only have 512mb ram? Or does installer "need" 1gb ram to install 7?
ookooweb 2 years ago
The installer is locked at 512MB RAM, so you need that to install it, but you can set the limit to 256MB RAM in vLite.
LooperNor 2 years ago
Okay, thanks

nice, had it running in a VM first too.
