  • Is cleaning a ILQ9 bearings same as cleaning ABEC bearings or do they have different method of cleaning it?Please reply.

  • I have FR1 80MM 2011 rollerblades, i have 2 questions is something beter that acetone to clean?is it safe for the bearing? and after the acetone whats the best lubrication that you can put...i do slalom and freestyle..

  • use a hair dryer for drying those.

  • lol, just messed up my bearings

  • awesome video tutorial, and great bearings.

  • Really nice tutorial, helped me a lot when cleaning out my bearings the first time, even though they are simple lame ABEC5's ;) Im done cleaning them now - so Im gonna go out and buy ILQ's tomorrow to replace them.

    Anyway, Thank you.

  • I don't take my ILQ9s completely apart to clean them. I remove the red cover from one side a then dump the bearing in a can filled with acetone. Shake-shake-shake and then I take them out one by one and blow them dry with compressed air. At first they don't spin but with a little help the dirt comes off and bearing starts to run. I blow it with air until the bearing is really screaming between my fingers. At that point the bearing is dry and completely clean and ready to be put back together.

  • what model ILQ9 you have and what is the price thanks

  • I can't put the full URL here. Goto twincambearing Mine are the ILQ9-PRO for $45

  • Again... :-) I have ILQ9 PRO's. You can see they have the orange round cover (nylon shield). Watching the video you'll see I discuss this very point. They are $45 a set. The difference between them and the standard ILQ's are two design points. ONE: Classic ILQ's are closed on both sides while Pro's are sealed on one side with the nylon shield/cover. TWO: That shield is designed for quick & easy removal.

  • the best video on cleaning good job i always clean my bearings take them all apart. back in the day i would clean the bearing then dry them then get some very fine steel wool and clean and polish the race. you ever try that

  • Good to learn! thx.

but my k2 moto 90 assemble is different, I dont have bearing remove tool, I have to hammer out the bearings ....hard time for me...

  • Hi dangerman, are SG9 bearings any good?

I have crossfire xt's which come with SG9 bearings... But you can't get these SG9 bearings open to service them. So should I just buy the ILQ9 bearings? Because obviously the non serviceable SG9 bearings won't last as long?

  • How do I reassemble 7 ball bearings? They don't get put back together as easily as the ones you have..... I've been trying to do so for the past 4 days and it just isn't workin,.. dya have any pointers on what I should do bro?

  • Thank You, I learned. I think it's lack of maintenance like this that keeps skates in peoples closets because they begin to run crappy.

  • VERY GOOD SET INSTRUCTION OF VIDEOS!

  • I accidently removed the comment asking what the device is in the video. It's a ultrasonic cleaner. You can find them on Ebay cheap. Don't waste your money on a $200 industrial version. A $20 model will get the job done great.

  • my bones reds have a groove on both sides of the race does this matter when putting back together

  • I've heard great things about bones, but I'm partial to Twincam's ILQ bearings. So I'm unfamiliar with the reverse engineering of a set of bones. However what I can say is that in my video, the grove has a specific purpose for the one-sided cover. I made this video as ILQ's are different than ABEC bearings and I felt the ILQ users needed their own video for properly breaking down and cleaning bearings. NOTE: ILQ PRO's are shielded on both sides and the groove issue is absent with that model.

  • @macdaddy1600 no, it doesn't matter. all bones bearings have the option to add another shield.

  • Two reasons for using tongs. In the boiling water, you'll give yourself 2nd or 3rd degree burns using your fingers. I didn't use tongs in the acetone but it would be wise not to touch the acetone as it is a solvent and is a poison.

  • I've also learned kerosene (paraffin oil in UK) is a good solvent for bearings. It's combustible though. Boom! So not worth the effort.
