I couldn't understand a Gram-Schmidt example in my textbook so I found this video to explain it to me. Then I went back to my textbook to work out the example. Halfway through I referred back to the video and finally realized it's the exact same problem with the exact same values. I should probably sleep before I take my final
@ZaneMcCaig Gram Schmidt not only gives you a matrix in which every vector is a unit vector, but it also forms an orthogonal basis in which every vector is perpendicular to every other vector. Orthogonal matrices have some very useful properties (for example, orthogonal Q inverse = Q transpose; also, Q times Q transpose makes a projection matrix). This process may seem like a lot of work (and it is), but the result is very useful.
No I am not stupid. Are you stoopid? I shouldn't really waste my time, bu, you shouldn't imply and insinuate insults. If only shows that you are a self-righteous and egotistical person, without the gumption to make a statement, like, fuck you, you snivelling little cunt. If you are unable to learn anything from these videos then don't watch, and go buy a college textbook instead, However if you are having trouble with these videos then I doubt that you will grasp any formal delineations.
with this attitude, i doubt you`ll ever make it to university. ppl who use f words are normally not seen in next term classes. u my friend will not be seen anywhere close to unviersity.
once u fail acheive ur goal, u can always return to this screen and thank khansAcademy lol

theres a dude out there on youtube patrickJMT, learn some mathematics from him, learn how to teach, learn how to explain something by putting yourself in our shoes and beleive me they would help
so far, what you've taught is garbage and im glad my brain hasnt registered anything of that
im sorry but you suck and ur vidoes are nothing but waste of precious youtube waste. i speak for all the fellas who come accross ur videos under a perception we`ll learn something, sadly this is not the case
@sam1209 It's extremely rude of you to insult something the way you have that has clearly benefited and is benefitting thousands of people, including myself.
I wonder if you are the only person to come across these videos and not learn something. You are the one who must suck!
i've been watching your vids for a while now....but seriously, I cannot understand you. You need to be more coherent while you speak, instead of going back here and there.
I've been going through the playlist of linear algebra and am really thankful for all the work that you have put in into creating the series. I am not able to attend any kind of formal courses due to Visa restrictions, but your videos are helping me to continue the pursuit of my education until I can go to university. Thank you again.

Why don't you just divide v2 by its length? What is the benefit of Gram-Schmidt?
