Great video! I just recently finished reading The 4HWW Expanded and Updated edition, I'm a senior in college but look forward to applying some of the principles.
Phenomenal! Thank you for the encouragement and enthusiasm! As a mum with small kids - your review gives clarity on what family life can really be like!
My wife and I are working out the details to do the same as you are.. we the systems setup(similar to vonage) like you mentioned (but for MUCH less money) through TelecomSlayerDOTcom where we also got a cellphone that has UNLIMITED minutes, Text and web....
It is AWESOME that you guys can work together to get to your definite chief aim!!!
Thanks Michael. I am a transplant (Ca to Va) also. My wife and I have been struggling with many of the same issues. I have been trying to grasp Tim's main ideas, in a "family guy" environment. My wife and I have been contemplating home schooling as well. We both hated public school growing up and our children are showing the same pattern. Dude...2010 is the year I say F#@K it! I know I can teach my boys better than some 21y/o girl with no kids of her own! Thanks for the push!
Mobile family success! I love what you're teaching your kids, and thank God for the "untraditional traditional family"! I don't have a family (yet), but your vid helps me understand that we don't have to have the 40-hour, traditional family. I'll be checking out more resources! Thanks, and all the best!
Inspiring. I have a family too and felt that Tim's idea's in 4 Hour Work Week were for the young and single. You've proven otherwise. Thank's for sharing.
I'd like to mention that many kids I met in school that were previously home schooled were very unsocial, ignorant and stuck up. Getting along with others is not as easy as getting along with your parents and so there is a lot to learn in school when it comes to dealing with people you are forced to be around, who are not your parents. I hope this helps..
You also meet a large number of children in school that were NOT home schooled that act the same way. Pretty much the same percentage from my experience. Some people just don't ever find the tools or ability to relate to others and while it is sad, I don't think it is correlated to home schooling. FYI - I went to a public school all my life.
Thanks, it just seems to make more sense that these people have missed out on all the gossip, badmouthing and politics included in the school experience, but maybe that's a good thing..
Thanks, Michael. And your wife's post is hilarious — you guys sound like a great match.
San Diego for a month? Don't miss the Zoo at night (they stay open late in the summers)... you get to see all kinds of activity you never get to in the day. (I used to be a tour guide there.)
Thanks for posting this, Michael — I can't wait to show this one to my wife. We unschool, I work from home, two kids... lots of similarities... and I think she'll start to realize more of how possible this is when she sees your video.
Adam - You should also look at my wife's recent post on familyhack dot com. It's about traveling with kids. She speaks from experience. In fact, she wrote it on the plane to San Diego. We arrived on Saturday. We'll be here for a month.
It sure does sound like we have a similar situation. I'm glad our story helped you see some new possibilities.
By the way you're one of the 5 lucky people whose video shows up when you type in 4hww in the you tube search. Do you remember if it took some time to show up in searches?
I recorded and posted mine yesterday but it doesn't show up after typing 4hww.
Thanks. I enjoyed your video too. I saw the link on Tim's blog.
My clip appeared right away in the search. I have no idea why it worked when others such as your's are still tucked away. I wonder if youtube is aware of this issue.
Also, do you show your jewelry designs online? I'd love to see what you are doing. Being a designer, it's always inspiring to see what creatives in other disciplines are doing.
Hey Michael - I have heard of what you describe called "unschooling" - esp. if you are traveling a lot, that might be a better description. I am planning on getting my two year old into more of an arrangement like that in the near future. Thanks! ~Marcie
Hi Marcie - Unschooling is definitely what we do. My video was a one take stream of consciousness and I think I opted for the term homeschooling since it's more widely recognized. I think I also made it sound like we are more tied to the schedule of home schooler events. That's not the case either. We come and go as we please. - Michael

Love it man, thanks! =D
A lot of stuff I plan on doing in my life.
Respect for homeschooling. The public school model is retarded.

@jonmahoney04 "insidious" would be a more accurate word. Because all the badness of it was planned on purpose, to be harmful.

Love the video and congrats on the implementation of the book (millions bought the book..how many success stories are on youtube?)
My only gripe is the camera is zoomed in wee bit too close. Full-screening this vid on a 24 inch monitor is downright scary, no offense.
