  • Cant really tell, but I suppose it's the left hand the glove is on in this performance. If I remember correctly, times after this, the glove was on the right.

  • A true genius! RIP MJ!

  • My Mom on the other hand, didn't know English, but wanted me to learn because we live in America. The Jackson 5 motivated me to learn English. I guess, my Mom was right on, because my Father proved to be a bastard Womanizer and Alcoholic. Meanwhile, I took my Mom's advise, and now I'm in the midst of working on a college degree!!! Thank you Mom, and thank you Jackson 5!

  • Why music transcends the entertainment industry. I'm Latin American. The reason I know perfect English today is because of the Jackson 5 and Michael. When I was a toddler in the 70's/early 80's, my Father was a Bar owner with Juke boxes. He had all the Jackson 5 records on vinyl. Ironically, he did it for business, but both my Mom and Dad didn't really know a lick of English. My Dad wanted me to take over the family business, but didn't give a damn if I learned English or not.

  • How on earth does this have less than a quarter of a million views when you have garbage out there with hundreds of millions!

  • In the first part of this video his brothers are only stage decoration. Everyone just looks at Michael. The others could have gone away to have some coffee. Nobody would have realized that they were missing.

  • But it doesn't matter right nor, because I am enjoying these videos whether she likes it or not.

I will ALWAYS enjoy good music.

That's a fact noone can change!! Not even my own mother!!

  • My mum is a big meany!!!

She kills my fun in videos everytime in saying that Michael Jackson is dead and that I wouldn't have to scream that loud when I see a video or at least music of him. That means I mustn't be happy. The reason is that I am always hearing music of him.

I know I'm a Michael Jackson maniac and that I'm too young for calling me a fan of him (I'm 16), but I still love him and his music.

  • I know hiw u feel im 14 and i m totally in luv with him and my family makes fun of for it

    @Tiara1551

  • pause at 08:16 <333 THE MOST BEAUTIFULL FACE IN HISTORY!!!!!! <333 *___*

  • I was 23 years old, stationed in Hawaii when I first saw this Motown celebration. I watched in a 13in color TV with a friend, Brandi. I'll never forget how pissed she was that my TV was so small....but that night was so magical for both of us, we witnessed history that night....the night Michael became a legend in his own right....what a night that was, I will never ever ever forget watching this.

  • @Supersneed1000100 LMFAO "ONLY" 16? kid im 17 -____- shut the fuck up i been cursin since i was 10 stop being a little innocent bitch about it

  • BLESSING : ) LOVE YOU ALL.

  • Ah! - Genius at his peak! If only it could have stayed that way - largely downhill from there

  • @jackwilshiresfakeid : do you really think it was a largely downhill from there? I agree with you in therms of his health but in therms of his music??? no no:)

  • @Suska1977 yes yes. Dangerous and HIStory are attrocious

  • Why didn't he just stop surgery there? He looks fine with that.

  • @JuicyArlene Michael suffered desperately from hatred of his father. He never wanted to ever look like his father, who had very pronounced black features. That obsession took him over the edge. And I agree, he looked absolutely marvelous during this time, but he wasn't well enough to realize it. He along with the late Houston suffered so much internally, and only God knows what it was.

  • Everytime I watch this I get so overwhelmed, wish I was there, this is magic history! The Jackson 5 together were awesome and Michael was a King of Kings.

  • Is the Billie Jean performance the 1st time that he was playback ?

  • Damn I miss this dude...the world was better with him in it. 2012 babay!!

  • He was such a beautiful man!

  • Billie Jean

    No fancy light show.

    No fancy backup dancers.

Just a stage, a microphone, a spotlight, and Michael Jackson.

Truly the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

  • @jacekantoine Absolutely true! Michael Jackson had talent. Not like these pretenders of today. REAL TALENT!!! And lets not forget that he could actually sing without Autotune or any other computer assisted aids.

  • @jacekantoine and lip synch >.>

  • how can u dis like this its history for cryin out loud

  • I know he lip synced it, I'm jus saying he did a dam good job of doing it, which made the reason to do it that much better.

  • Comment removed

  • he did lip sync on billie jean, not when singing with his brothers

  • @chezzy120 Which was dumb

  • @WhitePeopleLoveMe how is it dumb? nobody can do a dance routine like that and still sing well. in this case, the lipsynching is necessary

  • Likely one of the more historically important music videos ever posted on YouTube. Thanks for the great quality OP.

  • TWO. This video is like real time, so if he did lip sync he was syncronized with the melody in REAL TIME. Such genius to capture that much emotion in a track.

  • ONE. I wonder what was going on thru his head as he was doing this performance.

  • LOL crazy clapper @ 2:25

  • Michael is so beautiful in this video!

  • Mj revient ='(

  • I keep coming back to this performance. Thank goodness its in HD finally! I stop by and watch it at least once a week :)

  • Some people is standing up for the J5, but everybody is on their feet for MJ.

  • I will never tired of seeing this performance!!! I was 9 years-old screaming at the TV the whole time!!!

  • Is it me, or is Marlon copying Michael?

Is it me, or does the dude in the green look gay in that getup?

Is it me, or is Michael wearing Sequin?

What about the Rules of Fashion?

  • @Supersneed1000100 It's just you, Honey ;-)

.....and this was 28 years ago.

  • @2BeFlo It can't be me. I watched this carefully many times, and I can't help but notice this stuff.

BTW, Duh! I know when and where this happened.

    Just because I'm 16 doesn't mean I'm dumb!

  • @Supersneed1000100 no honey thats Jackies fine ass in the green and I am sorry there is not one thing gay about that man bow if ANYTHING looked gay in this video it was the way Randy came on stage and the way he strutted off the stage now I know Randy wasn't gay but when you look at this well.....

  • @missi625 ....Okay....

  • @Supersneed1000100 Fuck off with fashion.

  • @Rosalia100100 Hey! I'm just calling it like I see it!

BTW, Watch your language towards me. I'm only 16!

  • classic

  • 1) Michael had a rare skin disease called vitiligo that causes the pigments in the sin to die and cause the skin to turn a porclein white.

    2) Michael was sent to court twice and was found not guilty twice about child molestation. The reason why people though this was because because he hung out with chidren all the time but he did this because he had to work during his childhood and never got to have a regular childhood

    3) The crotch grab meant nothing. It just corresponded to the music.

    <3

  • Great, fabulous, fantastic. MJ was the best : )

  • He had the crowd at his mercy.

  • why did he suddenly change from black to white? he was adorable with his afro :) and then he totally changed :P

  • @CaptainJack11000 he had a skin disease

  • Why does Michael's brother (don't know his name) use Michael's microphone during their duet of I'll Be There?

  • @TKAdams270 Michael was probably glad his brother used his michrophone that was Jermaine and I read somewhere that he was Michaels favorite older brother and that Michael was really hurt when he got married and moved out of the family home Michael was jealous of his wife

  • I love this video. It demonstrates why Michael Jacson is the King of Pop.

  • is it me but it looks like Jermaine looked at mike like he had an attitude around 6:45 to 6:48

  • Yes I cried

  • C that's what am talking bout. They can sang!!!!!!!

  • The brothers look relieved that they don't have to do alot of dancing they leave that up to Michael.lol Just joking God bless em

  • damn i miss mj....rip!

  • I can't stop watching this !!!!!

  • I'm astounded at this performance :o

  • Legends before they were out of puberty

  • its amazing how they all listen to him...

  • I LOVE BILLIE JEAN!!! Tell 'em Mike...THAT AIN'T MY KID!!! YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER!!

  • Im 50 and also grew up being a Jackson Five and MJ fan. This performance lifts my soul and at the same time brings me to tears because he died way too young.

  • @Specialized61 I FEEL YOU ON THAT 100%!!! I AM A TRUE MJ FAN ALSO!!!

  • I watched this performance the night it originally aired. I grew up a Jackson 5 fan. So when I saw they were performing I was glued to the tv set. Seeing them perform together after all those years was apart (8 years at that time) was amazing. His solo performance of Billie Jean was One of those moments where you didn't want to move for fear of missing something. So needless to say when he did the moonwalk for the first time I was blown away. I taped it on my VCR (Betamax....lol). I kept

  • This was out of sight. If you didnt know who MJ was you did now. Get me a time machine im going back this is pure magic.

  • I could watch this a million times i'm still dumbfounded. His movement is flawless. I'm convinced there was a higher power(God) working with Mike that gave him that talent..

  • Smiling with tears in my eyes .. oh I miss you beautiful Michael :(

  • Congrats this video is on the JACKSONS homepage

  • EVEN ELVIS WAS SAYING to mj DAMNNNNNNN you are WAY better than me

  • whooao bei dem video bekomme ich gänse haut!!

Mike beweisst dseine rolle als Chef von nun an den Pop Musik!

  • I can't believe people just watch this amazing performance! And Arguing if he is lip synching or not! COM'ON MAN!

  • Why did he have to die

  • Every time I watch this I get goosebumps. This is REAL music compared to what music we have today, and I'm 14 saying that.

This is proper music, love you mj

    RIP

  • @coolsmoothcriminal97 I am noticing a lot of teenagers are saying that today's music suck. I think it sucks too, but I am an old woman in my mud twenties. MJ made music that transcended generations.

  • A GIFT FROM GOD

  • @sesyleMJ NO THIS GUY IS GOD

  • THAT´S WHY YOU ARE THE KING OF MUSIC AND DANC,

    I LOVE YOU FOREVER

  • Comment removed

  • he is so beautiful here... the whole performance is beautiful. i almost cried when they sang I'll be there :')

  • Lawd have mercy on my soul. Is anyone else dumbfounded by Mike's footwork on the audition tape (0:38)? This kid is not wearing any wheels or skates. This is not normal movement here...

  • as a teen i was watching the guitar player,as a teen at the time i wasn't watching michael,30 years later it is cool to say i saw the moon walk and was blown away,i saw that show, thanks for the post,so be it a metal head, van halen at the time

  • Billie Jean at Motown 25 was the best performance I've ever seen. There was no one better.

  • @fz9153 It was iconic and amazing performance for sure. But def not his best.

  • yes the audio is off on the billie jean performance as it wasn't that deep when he performed if but still this is great quality on one of the greatest performances of all time

  • Thanks youve made my day and the next one too. I am awe struck at this performance. By the way Michael wasn't lip syncing he was singing he sang the whole thing ( I was there)

  • @IIJacksonMichael Wow what was it like to be there?

  • @Topg1 Well if I could use one word,... I could never describe it! Even if you gave me a dictionary! The other acts were good but they stole the show, if they had been thieves then the police wouldn't have tried to stop them. It was the best day of my life. I remember it exactly as it was when i saw it live, and I was only 9! It is indescribable.

    Hope that answers your question

  • @IIJacksonMichael That's good that you can see musical history made right before your eyes.

  • I love you so much Michael!

  • Now They... Are Perfomers

  • When they started performing, it was nearly like a church service because we saw how people started getting up and clapping. Another thing, I never saw Michael or his brothers so BOLD! That was very neat!

  • Yea I think someone did mest with the audio too cuz dey tryin to make it look lyk he was lip singing n he wasnt on da other clip I seen

  • A classic, iconic performance my a musical giant. I remember seeing this on TV when it happened and it is still amazing to this day. Often imitated but never duplicated. RIP Mike, we miss you.

  • one of the best things I have ever seen! Michael is absolutely gorgeous here, so stunning!!! wish we could just preserve him forever like this

  • Thank You !! You just made my night with the full clip of MJ doing this show...I absolutely love this man..Best of the best and one of the kindest souls to walk this Earth...Miss him every day..

  • why are you EVEN discussing lip syncing anyway? OMG, MJ just fronted this entire band prior to his solo performance, by singing 5 - 6 J5 songs LIVE..in perfect pitch and harmony! So, it's not like he couldn't sing, for pete's sake. You can't tell with him, he always sounds so good live..just like recording.. MISS YOU Michael Jackson!

  • Michael doing a lip sync in this song, because he wanted to focus on the dancing:D

  • 9.27 : The magic begins and History was made!!!

  • Take notes youngins: THIS is a performance!!!

    RIP MJ

  • LEGENDARY!!

Oh my gosh, I'm still cryin watchin this vid. :'( Why'd he have to go so early, can't believe it...

Michael, I'm so sorry for all you have gone through... All of your Fans wish they were able to be there for you!! :( You're alive... in our hearts. Love you, Michael!

    REST IN PEACE

  • This will remain the best performance ever!!! -You can always watch and enjoy it! -It is so unique!!! -It is magic!!!

M.J. is the best dancer-He has most charisma and effect-You want to copy the moves! -And the music fascinates You every single time! -You can always listen to it!!!

  • Michael is visually perfection here.

  • Mike was, still is, and always will be THE KING OF POP. Not just pop but of all time. R.I.P. Michael. You will never be forgotten.

  • On the night of the event, Katherine Jackson (Michael's Mom) had her closet open to choose her outfit she would wear to 25Motown. Michael saw a black sparkly shirt hanging there and he took such a liking to it that he wore it that same night. That is now the world famous top worn to a performance that changed the history of music. It was him Mom's. I just love the simple respect and love he had for her that he wore it. The man is so humble, cute, sweet, talented, anda sucker for sparkly clothes!

  • I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A VERSION JUST SHOWING THE CROWD!

  • I love how excited Michael is when he sees rand

  • This song isn't a lipsyncing. The reason I can tell is his voice is slightly deeper and the song is being played slightly faster. Usually when the song is faster the voice gets higher. Michael never believed in lipsyncing so he never did it.

  • @AslanGriffindorLion He is lip syncing here and has also lip synced in a variety of other performances.

  • @Louchambers give me solid evidence. I see his throat muscles contracting as if he were singing. I know a lip sync and this isn't one of them.

  • @AslanGriffindorLion you're joking, right? The fade out at the end proves this performance is lip synced. Another give away is the fact that the track version sounds identical to this performance. Michael lip synced throughout the majority of his HIStory tour so watch a Billie Jean performance from then and tell me it doesn't sound exactly the same. I am a huge Michael fan and to deny that he EVER lip synced is just ignorant.

  • @Louchambers play this one beside the track version this one has a deeper vocal range than the other. Come on man stop getting your ideals from Yahoo Answers.

  • @AslanGriffindorLion being a fan of Michael's since before I was even born I think I know the difference between his LIVE and lip synced performances. This version of the video does sound a little deeper than usual but if you watch another version it sounds exactly the same as the track version. Of course, if you'd bothered to watch this performance more than once you'd have already heard that.

  • @AslanGriffindorLion Someone messed with the audio on this video. In the countless times I have seen this performance, this is the only time I've seen it where "Billie Jean" sounds different.

  • @Louchambers: Well, even though it was lip synched.. it was still perfect! This performance was the crowning moment for him.

  • @RockyBalboa211 Yes of course, I agree. I never said it wasn't! :)

  • @Louchambers: Yeah, I know you never said that.. I just wanted to write that so the kids who come on here can see that this is the moment that made MJ the King of Pop! :D

  • @AslanGriffindorLion Michael has lip synced in hundreds of performances man. It is incredibly difficult to dance and sing at the same time, Michael did a combination of both. Watch the Dangerous World Tour DVD - Jam is lip synced, vocals are identical to album, whereas Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' is live, vocals are nothing like the album and you can hear him breathing. Furthermore, Michael had a throat infection on History tour and had to lip sync the majority of songs for a number of concerts.

  • WHO ACARES IF MICHAEL'S VOICE WAS HIGH OR LOW, HE'S STILL THE KING OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND SOLD MORE ALBUMS THAN EVERYBODY OUT THERE ;0)

  • All of do me and yourself a favor and shut the fuck up and enjoy this damn production

  • I would have loved to hear these songs re-recodrded by Michael Jackson...

  • Although MJ got a huge response from the crowd for doing his first ever moonwalk onstage, he was angry at himself @13:06 because he planned on standing on his toes for a lot longer but it didn't work out. He said that his brothers even kissed him because they were so happy for him, yet he still couldn't forgive himself for that one mess up- that no one even noticed. That shows what a genuine perfectionist he was. He perfected every detail possible. Thats what made him so great....

  • @11Moonwalk11 it's crazy he thought that..this performance was flawless imo.

  • WHY IS HIS SINGING VOICE LIKE 2 OCTAVES LOWER THAN WHAT IT WAS REALLY LIKE IN THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE

  • @djcruzify hey moron everybody knows that all artists sometimes do lipsinging but you missing the point. sometimes its difficult to dance and sing all the time but MJ KILLED THE LIFE PERFORMENCES THOLLY!!! NOW YOU TELL ME WHO THE FUCK WAS BETTER THEN MJ MJ WAS THE BEST IN EVERY ASPECT OF A ARTIST= SINGING, DANCING, LIVE PERFORMANCES (ESPECIALLY BUCHAREST 92), CREATIVITY, AND HIS PERSONALITY OMG HE STOOD UP FOR PEACE AND EXPOSED THE EVIL PEOPLE THAT CONTROL MUSIC AND MEDIA. NOW STFU ABOUT MJ SOB

  • @stonedhead007

HEY MORON I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT HIS VOICE IS DEEP AS FUCK IN THIS VERSION, MUCH DEEPER THAN THE VOICE I HEARD ON THE THIRLLER 25TH ANNIVERSARY DVD. LEARN TO READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT MY WORDS MEAN BEFORE YOU MAKE STUPID ASS COMMENTS AND WASTE UR FUCKIN TIME ASSHOLE

  • @djcruzify um, why is your comment all in caps?

  • @PrinceOfPurpleRain

DOES THAT REALLY MATTER 2 U? ARE U SERIOUS?

  • I Love Richard

  • Never ever will there be another performance like this. MJ doesn't need fancy effects, to arrive in an egg, to have a lot of lights. All he needs is his mother's sweater and one glove to make HIStory.

  • Im so sad watching this thinking about what a truly amazing talent we've lost. Man i've known these songs my whole life! im only 20 but hearing "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There" I get as hype as any person who was there in the 70's when those songs first came out. Like I still get the shakes watching this and its almost 30 years later! Thats how amazing he and his brothers were, both solo and as a group. Gosh i miss you MJ. I hope you're at peace wherever you are <3

  • This one has great Audio quality!

  • Entertainment at its best

  • Bizarre as they come, but, guy could bring it onstage........

  • LEGEN...wait for it...DARY!

  • The first person to take a step for man on the moon became a hero. A man who took three steps backwards on the moon created the King of Pop and a legend. I love his moonwalking but what mesmerizes me is his mad spinning right afterwords.

  • love mj, but billie jean is lip sung... i don't blame him tho its a lot of work on stage.

  • the only 2 stand move that he get it wrong was here in his all life lol - rip mj

  • @6:55 extreme focus.

  • @3:17 the lady in the purple dress gets it.

  • R.I.P MJ LUV YA

  • Humanity will be lucky to get another talent like MJ in the next 100 years....he is a once in a lifetime gift of talent..

  • @GrandMasterGuess SORRY, BUT THERE WILL BE ANOTHER TALENT LIKE MJ. GOD GAVE HIM THE SPECIAL TALENT OF ANY MUSICIAN IN HISTORY THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

  • @Ms1Brownchocolate i think you mean "will not be"

  • look at my channel for hd MJ

    MrNkhalil

  • 9:25. he is killing me ! *__*

  • 170,000 views? Why is this video only counting how many times I watch it?

  • he's so cute!

  • I love the J5 and everything; their great together... but with michael was on stage singing; he was separated from the rest; he has this certain glow about him that made him the KING OF POP.. Love ya MJ now and forever

  • 1983 gets the Jacksons and Michael...2011 gets Justin Bieber and Tulisa....music is so dead

  • @Xk8rsx lol music is dead for sure!

  • MICHEAL JACKSON IS TRULY A MUSICAL GENIUS AND IS THE BEST THERE IS THE BEST THERE WAS AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE

  • AAAAAH I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND MICHAEL JACKSON MUSIC TOO ;) <3

  • Born a legend, lived a legend, died a legend … and STILL is a LEGEND!!!

  • I LOVE THIS MAN!!! RIP MICHAEL, I LOVE YOU!!!!!

  • i heard around 9:20-9:21 someone said billie jean

  • as a 14 year old living in this time, i wish so much i could've been alive during this era when music and class came from the person not some machine that can make anyone sound ok, amazing how something like this, years before i was born can affect mine and many other young lives!

  • im still mezmeroised by this 20 years after i 1st saw it

  • whats prubrety?

  • @packerfan9229 LOL IDK!?
