"Now the greasers they tramp the streets or get busted for trying to sleep on the beach all night" Reminiscent of our rebel youth, huh? Bruce Knows. ::smiles::
I have seen Springsteen and his band in concert over 20 times. Ok so I'm a Jersey Girl. Danny you will be missed. Rest in peace. I cried watching this video. Thank you for sharing this.
Sissy-I can't believe you are gone and sooo young-be at peace and in no more pain my sweet angele sister-it was songs like this that we listened to over and over years ago-we were the sisters back in our day-I will forever miss your contagious laughter and smile-Love-your one and only sibling and sister-butch
I was there that night, as Danny departed the stage and held onto the handrails, as he walked slowly down the stairs, it occurred to me that Danny was walking into eternity . . .
Was so moved by watching the band say goodbye to Danny for the last time on stage. What a wonderful moment. You can just see the grief and love that they feel. Rest in peace Danny
My God . Last night I watched my Hammersmith Odeon 75 DVD and there was Bruce and Danny from so many years ago, singing this haunting song, And now Danny's done and Bruce, just like the rest of us who grew up in the 70s, is showing his age. It's true that time waits for no one. I have walked many a mile listening to this man's music and I pray I get to walk many more
Sis-I miss you so, you were too young to be taken but be in peace and no more pain my sweet angel-be with GG< Mom and Dad and the rest of the kids-I will alwasy remember and Love you-Butch
That's me screaming 'Wooo!! Danny!! Woo!". I'm a young big Springsteen(21) and this song is amazing. Reminds me of summer, which is currently the best one I've had. Saw Bruce three times. AMAZING. Thanks Dad for getting me into GREAT music.
Hey can anyone answer this-I have an original album with the song sandy on it- he sings it like on this recording but the words listed on the side are different instead of talking about the waitress it says angels lost there desire I've heard it sung both ways but the way he sings it here is the way I first heard it does anyone know where the different versions came from- thanks
The version with the angels lyric is from the Live 1975 - 85 box set from the mid-80s. It's not a studio album. The waitress version is the original from The Wild, The Innocent, The E Street Shuffle album from 1973. That one is a studio album.
that concert . . .I can tell Bruce was heavy with the knowing that his friend was out of time. . . it's in his eyes when he looks at Danny, and in his face when they play. . . the sublety of it is almost as devestating as the reality
JJSHIZZ said... there are no word´s... i can just dream away and almost feel the summer evening winds blow in asbury park.. and all the lights and carnival on the boardwalk. almost like i´v been there at that time asbury park was at it´s peak of years.
thank you bruce and east street band... i love you so much
The Boss does it again!!! This song stirs up memories for every person who had the opportunity to grow up in a shore town in this great country! Brings me back to my boyhood days in Scituate, MA ! Long live The Boss!
what else could I ever add? Words cannot convey what my heart feels by listening to something that captures my soul and makes me fly away to music's heaven...Thank you very much indeed to Theghost62. Greetings from Sardinia.
This was Danny's last time on stage. If you look at Bruce's eulogy he talks about this. He asked Danny what he wanted to play and he said Sandy. He wanted to strap on the accordion and revisit the boardwalk of our youth during the summer nights when we'd walk along the boards with all the time in the world.
Danny flew in with an helicopter straight from the clinic for this show, his last show. Great Great respect for him, i hope he has a good spot in the E street heaven.
Uh, the accordion is there to invoke "the carnival life..." and is, and has always been, integral to the performance. Recalls a 1960s Asbury Park arcade in the wet heat of the summer. I suppose you had to be there...
Asbury continues to break my heart every time I drive through...although we're tending to stop now for a look around...the downtown section on the south end is coming back, and some of the restaurants are first rate. Plus the the beloved Casino is being rebuilt. There's hope...
Flemington NJ proud. Thanks for asking Bruce Springsteen to join your band back in the day, thanks for starting the E-street band, we won't ever forget you.
I was at this concert I couldn't believe it when Bruce yelled Danny Federici,,I am So glad I was witness to seeing Danny again saw Bruce abd E Street for the 1st time 28 years ago.
E Street will not be the same without Danny...your music was AWESOME!!! and everyone on E Street ( family..the band..and millions of fans) our hearts are heavy with sadness..but you will always be in our hearts and your beautiful music will live on.
RIP Danny ! We love you! I have been a huge fan of The E Street Band since I was a little girl. I am also battling Melanoma. It is a very serious and dangerous type of Skin Cancer. God Bless Danny and his family. They are in my thoughts. We lost an awesome musician.
Ahh man...a sad day for me and many many people. Thank you so much for the sound you added to the greatest band in the world and thank you being a great man and musician!
God bless you, Danny. We will miss your music and your spirit. The world lost a wonderful musician and an amazing, warm, genuine person today. You will forever be missed on the stage, but thankfully you will live forever in our memories, hearts, and yes, our DVD and CD players. I am shocked and saddened by your passing, but the sound of your keyboard will comfort your fans. All my best to the Federici and E Street family.
