  • If I owned one of these, and my friend owned one of these, would he be able to unlock my enclosure with the key he received?

  • @JonnMcNally No

  • 3dgameman, can i make a sound for you if you let see the product, because this one is not good. can you please react ;p (english is bad)

  • fit this with an esata and im sold

  • lol we tested these at work. after the test we went back to normal external hard drives for daily use since, well, never mind.

  • RFID is cool, but it's blown way out of proportion.

  • Sweet looking HDD. RFID as protective measures is a clever idea.

  • you can impale someone with it. I just bought it and the thing is solid and heavy. Before they rob you just aim for the temple. If that doesn't succeed then the encryption will piss them off.

  • this seems good for like military useage

  • It IS mil-spec

  • That's a nicely sharpened pencil.

  • I'd prefer an external security drive with a finger print scanner.

  • rofl yeah, you don't really lose your fingers do you? haha

  • Looks great but I find the RFID function to be nonsensical. There is NOTHING to prevent a person stealing the drive and copying all data, encrypted or not, to an off site location and going about decryption processes. Anything short of 256-BIT AES, RSA etc... isn't going to do much to deter a determined data thief.

  • cool technologi

  • *in middle of a war*

guy1: *pulls out this hard drive for computer*

    Guy2: *Shooting incomming enemys*

    Guy1:*downloading intel onto hardrive*

Guy2:*runs out of ammo and mistakingly grabs harddrive thinking it is a magazine*

  • downloading intel?

  • GREAT LOOK

  • So, if you lost your tags = you're fucked!

  • or take the drive out of the bay and use eSata?

  • lol you could take the hdd out and plug it directly into a computer i suppose :S

  • of course you can.

  • but it is encrypted using the rfid key, so if you remove it you would still need the keys to use the data.

  • You could try and backup the info onto your own rfid tags just in case

  • best way not to lose that thing, either a) implant. b) strap it to your privates. or c) do what prisoners do, shove it up in the.....

  • it would be pretty bad if you lost the RFID key's though, which would be likely in my case

  • If I were to get an enclosure I would get this!

  • i will by pass that RFID CHIP

  • can you perhaps show a comparison benchmark with a similar product?

  • can anyone tell me were i can buy in the uk ?

  • Nice video.

  • That RFID chip is a really nice idea. Is the data encoded on the hard drive or can you just use it as 'ordinary' external HDD and read all the data?

  • RFID tag? GG

  • Awsome porn drive

  • Bwahahhaha great idea!!

  • Yup, no one can find your stash =P

  • good point. i should get one.

  • no e-sata?

  • but what about the heat?

    or SSDs only?

  • The inserted HDD is a 250GB Momentus hard drive by Seagate. I don't think that 3DGAMEMAN changed the HDD so a 'normal' HDD should be fine as well.

  • i dont get it u need both keys to run the system or only one of them???

  • only one

  • no esata? is there a hd size limit?

  • Nope.

  • I bet you can clone these keys easily...

  • All FBI agent should have 1 of these

  • COOOOOOOoooooL...!!

  • I think I finallly got a place to store all that illegal porn!

  • You wanna share some of it?

    It's Wednesday, you know.

  • I do my viewing on thursdays lol

  • actually, it a 100% kickass porn storage!

  • Lolz.

    Classic

  • lol.

  • strange, Google used a bar code on their image to represent it's anniversary, and on the top news link, they talked about RFID replacing this in the future

  • Great video :)

  • looks fuckin savage i want it

  • i want it!

  • this is sweet :D

  • Ahahaha, he loves his HIS 5870 1GB GDRR5. Awesome HDD. I need to buy another 500GB or greater HDD. Turns out i have more than 60GB worth of shit.

  • who the fuck will buy a hard drive that requires a key to use it SERIOUSLY!

  • Those that wants to secure secret data

  • Ch1ld p0rnzzZ?

  • lol

  • Thanks alot. These reviews really help me choose what product to purchase

  • What if you lose the keys? bye bye data?

  • Nah if you lose the keys it'll just be byebye enclosure, hello plugging in the HDD inside the PC case or a normal enclosure.

  • and another dumbass...

The data is encrypted. Lose the key and the data is gone.

  • Only problem in RFID being used for the security is that there have already been items using it in the past that have been hacked with not too much work... I doubt it would be a different case on a HDD enclosure.

It wouldn't be a problem over a network obviously but if you lost the enclosure or it got stolen, the security would be near useless. To me that makes it too much of a liability to take out and about rather than using software a encryption on a portable drive.

  • Pretty much everything can be hacked.

But I don't think a "thief" will bother decrypting the data before selling the drive without the enclosure.

    just my thoughts

  • rip out the HD ? loolz

  • g8 review get ready to lock 'and' load people 5*...

  • nice hey i'm getting 7200rmp 500gb x2 wheni get my i7 rig from cyberpower!!!

  • I love how this isn't a "100% kick-ass product" lol

  • Rodney I found a way to make my external hard drive run at full speed ( I was limited by USB). I took it apart and shoved it in my computer.

  • lame, I don't see why anyone would buy that :p, I mean you can open the screws and take the HD

  • The data on the drive encrypted and you can only read it with the RFID key.

  • Rodney is da man!

  • cool

  • what a joke lmao who will buy that

  • "this is a enclosure its meant to be inside your pc"

    now this made me laugh

  • Hope that #1100 will be bloopers or something other special :D Nice review, as always.

  • you'd still have to wait for #1099 ;)
