The king was certainly an ass! But his problem all along was that, other than being greedy, he was miserable because he was alone all his life. Once he'd fallen in love, he was a completely changed man.

there was an alternate version where rumplestiltskin asked for her hair brush. Her hair resembled gold in color. when she discovered his name, she discovered also that he'd used the hairs from her brush to spin the straw to gold. When she revealed his name to him she threw it in his face that she no longer needed him or her brush, she could do it by herself from now on. I like that slightly better than this version,

I always loved this version! The funny thing about the story is all the selfishness involved. The king only wants to marry her once she makes him a bunch of gold. Then after she only did it with the help of Rumpelstiltskin, HE'S the evil one for wanting her to keep her promise? Granted, it's kind of mean to ask for her baby. But he DID do what she asked him to do.

@britishlaw Rumplestiltskin probably doesn't care for gold that much. I think this because, on a musical version of Rumplestiltskin with actor Billy Barty playing as Rumplestiltskin, the miller told him to take gold instead of her baby. So Billy Barty as Rumplestiltskin said that he doesn't need gold but would like a baby. Even though the Rumplestiltskin didn't say that here, maybe it was the same reason.

I think it's amazing! I have read the story and seen many adaptations all great and cool! I love playing on 2 Ds's and PC. Also watching tv, going 5 walks, playing,singing,dancing,having toast,lunch,tea,treats and having fun with my dad! Seeing my mates next door and our pure bred tabby cat Flossie! Used 2 have a dog! He was a mongrel a cross collie mixed with something we don't know what and his name was Bengi! Nearly 18 when he died! Mott was first and Bengi and Mott were a similar colour!

I actually really love Shelly Duvall's hair here. The thing that's always bothered me about this fairy tal is "you do this for me, I'll marry you. If you don't, I'll kill you" and then he's confused when she doesn't know IF she even WANTS to marry him. Great stuff right there :D

Yes, Herve Villechaize was great on the Dunkin Donuts commercial and the mascot of the commercial named Michael Vale was great too. They also made a Dunkin Donuts cereal from the 80s with Michael Vale on the cereal box. Unfortunately, that cereal went out of business. It was a great cereal and it's too bad that it went out of business.
