  • This sounds like one big mess.

  • dimebag will tell ya....He dont like doughnuts......serious...lol

  • ingwie sei un segaiolo, prova la fika...

  • ingvay kills hendrix no question

  • ingwie is a better guitarist than Jimi IMO... but he is not a better musician

  • he just plays the song his way :P that doesnt mean he doesnt know his instrument.. or that hes got no feeling, he just express it in a different way.. pretty obvious to me..

  • If he wants to do a cover of the great JH, I think he should go watch Stevie Ray Vaughan. Yngwie is such an arsehole ...... I am in total agreement with "Impronen"

  • Its not that he doesn't feel it - its that he feels something different than you do. I'm not a fan of how he lays here, but he can play, he's a great guitarist, get over it.

  • @djlivingfire It's like they are just trying to show off. When someone does that, I just kinda tune out. Play some damn music and stop trying to make yourself cool. Yes, he can play, but he blows. I don't know how anyone can like him because all of his songs sound basically the same. It's like Mexican Banda music, I can't tell the difference. It all has the same beat. Ba da da ba da da ba da da It's the same thing every song, the bass, the accordion, everything. Same with this guy. Every song

  • @djlivingfire sorry, "Far Beyond the Sun."

  • 41 people here were given assholes instead of ears.

  • this fuker could not grace the same stage as hendrix and if any fool thinks he is a better guitarist they shud give there head a shake

  • Had to see this, I was impressed with technicality, but like jimi said "blues is easy to play and hard to feel" this guy doesn't feel it

  • Hendrix has done more for metal such as distortion and Wah but malmsteens technique and capability shit all over hendrix. Malmsteen is a better guitarist, Hendrix was a better musician.

  • @LawrenceGordon92 No, Malmsteen is not a better guitarist. This sounds like shit. All he does in almost every "song" is try to play as fast as possible. That's a veneer for people like you to think he is a great guitarist but playing as fast as you can all the time does not make you a great guitarist. Especially if it sounds like absolute horse shit. Hendrix was a great guitarist, the best, and was 100% pure musician, something this man here will NEVER be or ever understand.Hendrix was the best.

  • Just remember, the haters all said the same thing about Hendrix, Ray Vaughn, Van Halen, etc., and meanwhile this guy who has "no feeling or understanding" somehow resonates with millions worldwide. Probably because he sucks, huh?

  • @djlivingfire It's because he sucks and people like you don't know shit music when you hear it. So many people don't even know who this guy is. Time is the best way to tell if something is really great. Time has remembered Hendrix, Vaughan, and others. Time will forget this man.

  • @djlivingfire Who said at the time when Hendrix was alive that Hendrix sucked? When the fuck was that? Who were the haters? Even Clapton, Beck, and Townsend all loved him and even felt threatened by him. He influenced them as well for the rest of their lives. Who were the haters then? Please, do tell.

  • @djlivingfire Well? Still waiting for an answer. If you don't have one, I understand.

  • @kuhnmartin

you saying I don't know about music is shortsighted. Just look up Rook Overman - that's me - and you'll quickly discover that I know how to play guitar. In fact, I won the Fender worldwide guitar competition over a decade ago, as well as many other competitions, including the online KOTB in 07. So maybe don't be so assuming and you won't embarrass yourself so badly next time. As for the history on Hendrix, standby...

  • ...Sorry for the broken response – there are only so many characters we can use – anyway, Hendrix’s first studio session was so poorly received that he was actually cut from the board altogether. This was in 1962, so he had some growing to do. It was actually Les Paul who “discovered” Hendrix in 65 in a club. But guess what? When he tried to find him, the club owner had kicked Hendrix out for being too wild. Not everybody reacted positively to Hendrix, then or now. Anything else?

  • One last thing - go to Ourstage.com and look up livingfire/ tune called sister sarah, I'd post the link but it wont let me here. Listen to that before you go railing my R and B playing - that online comp thing sucks for a lot of reasons. Trust me I can play like you wouldn't believe. You go download that tune and come back and tell me otherwise and I'll listen to every word you have to say on the issue.

  • @djlivingfire I didn't say you don't know music, I said you don't know shit music when you hear it. You comparison to Hendrix at the age of 19 or 20, four years before he started becoming hugely famous is not the same comparison as the one I made to Malmsteen when I said that he sucks and you said that's what haters said about Hendrix. I said it now, and Malmsteen has been famous for a few decades. You tried to compare Hendrix four years before he was discovered by Chandler and made a star. Not

  • @djlivingfire the same comparison at all. Who were the haters when Hendrix was famous? I thought that was clear because I mentioned Beck, Clapton and Towsend and they did not know of him in 1962. So, apples and oranges. I listened to your song, not exactly my kind of music but I would rather listen to that than Malmsteen. He reminds me of some R&B singers of today who feel that when they sing, they need to hit as many notes a possible. Similar to when Christina Aguilar sings.God that is annoying

  • @djlivingfire He just tries to play as fast as he can. Where is the musicianship? Where is the creativity, the talent? The only talent he has is he can play fast. BIG DEAL. That's boring. So, summing up, when Hendrix became famous, guitarists everywhere loved him, wanted to be like him, play like him. He was something new, something unique, and played guitar unlike anything anyone had ever heard. He influenced people for decades after his death and will for a long time. His music will stand the

  • @djlivingfire test of time. Malmsteen's music has an expiration date and his music could be flushed down the toilet and into the sewer and no one would bat an eye except for the few unfortunates who believe him to be a great musician. His "music" is plastic, dull, and BORING.

  • @djlivingfire and his song "Beyond the Sun" sounds like a rip off to me.

  • It's decent. Not very much emotion other than "HOLY SHIT! I'M. SO. FUCKING. FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still a good guitar player, but it's like a robot painting, technically it's perfect. But only technically.

  • Yngwie malmsteen has a cock the size of the dislike bar.

  • Yngwie pays tribute to Hendrix, and you guys hate on him for it? Yngwie isn't a record player,he's an artist. He's not gonna waste his time trying to sound like someone he's not. That's the difference between Yngwie and 90% of all guitarist.

  • 1. yngwie haters FUCK OFF! why fucking comment if you dont like it, you're only runing the mood around here.

    2. respect people for making covers, no band or artist is "trying to sound better" or "trying to imitate" a band. And most of all "they are not runing the song", its all about opinion which version you like better.

I just wanted to say this because I'm getting sick of hate comments on every single favourite band or artist of mine who cover other songs.

  • its very simple he cant create nice awesome sounds he tries just to be fast!so there is little left about the essence of power if at all of original feeling or song of jimmy.if jimmy plays you will be out of your comfort zone it goes trough your every nerves but here there are just finger running running without direction and feeling whatever.buyt nice finger running anyway he can do it really fast:)joke sorry:)

  • In the scheme of music... Yngwie kinda sucks (IMHO). Blows a lot of people out of the water in terms of technicality.. Actually not really anymore, now there are many more tech freaks. This is great guitar playing, but IMO this is not great music. He is just wanking all over this and playing recycled licks.. Nothing wrong with that. But I wouldn't consider it good music at all lol

  • Nothing wrong with this at all in my opinion.

  • dont like him

  • ya know honestly (and I a big fan of Mr. Malm) i think there was really no one in his life that convinced him "less is much much more". When he's on fire, he totally kills, but when things call for subtlety and taste he still just Kills… but on an acoustic guitar. I'm always interested in hearing whats coming next from the man because I'm hoping he for once understands … that when you speak softer and with lower decibels. thats when people pay more attention to what you're saying.

  • He was 17 years, and he did this fucking great even if he didnt do it the Hendrix way, he did it the Malmsteen way. If you don´t listen to Yngwie then why are you here? I am a big fan of Hendrix and a mega big fan of Yngwie, and of course prefer the Hendrix version of this song. But Yngwie is way too complex for many, and then they say he is "speed only" which couldn´t be more wrong. He is the best guitar player alive, no comparison.

  • @NisseEricsson

he moves his hands fast, that's all.

he's a great technichian, but as a musician he sucks completely, has no understanding of the instrument in his hands, no understanding what makes a solo, randy rhoads, if only THAT guy would ha ve lived on, he had so much feeling, just listen to the blizzard of ozz or tribute.

  • @OropherThranduil Yngwie is superior to Randy. If you still think Yngwie "sucks" go listen to the album "Rising Force", it will change your mind forever.

  • @NisseEricsson

soulless shredding will never change anything for me.

  • @OropherThranduil Oh my god. Listen to "Icarus Dream Suite Op 4." "Dreaming", "Crying", "Amberdawn" and tell me that Yngwie Malmsteen is soulless.

  • FAIL/////////BUTCHERED

  • I honestly didn't think I would ever say this, but Yngwie absolutely butchered this.

  • @thehowards6 Would you say that he ... Tore it apart? ... 'Shredded' it?

  • @simplethunder

    Nope. I'm sticking with butchered.

  • being hard to play dosent make a song good, but indeed this is impossible to play

  • Oh dear, life just isnt fair! If I had this fucktards talent I'd be making music not absolute NOISE like this.

  • Since when does yngwie play with a band?

  • This is terrible in every respect. Malmsteen and co just show themselves up by effectively demolishing this song. It just confirms my worst suspicions about YJM's 'musical' taste. Sometimes, less is definitely more; bashing everything into submission with a million notes per second is not the sign of a good musician. I checked this out because I love Hendrix, and hoped that YJM would do it justice. He hasn't. I appreciate that he has fantastic dexterity, but that is not what music's about.

  • why is his name NOT spelled Ingvey instead of Yngwie? Bullshit grammatical rules

  • @dogshit71 because he is swedish.

  • Stop shredding Yngwie...it sounds too gay for this song!

  • To fast ... not the best!

  • How can someone possibly be so technically proficient and yet have no understanding whatsoever about the instrument (or even more so about the song) he is playing? This is kind of "how to make shit out of gold the hardest and most technically difficult way."

  • @impronen You dead right! The same way Americans ruin pizza by putting 400 toppings on them!

  • @impronen AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA

  • @impronen give the kid a break …. he was SIXTEEN when he recorded this. (not that his tasteful playing improved much since then though :)

  • @impronen "How can someone possibly be so technically proficient and yet have no understanding whatsoever about the instrument "

Just another subjective (not to mention preposterous) opinion from another Youtube hack who has no understanding whatsoever about the artist in question. No understanding about the song - maybe. No understanding whatsoever about the instrument?!? Why don't you delineate to us what the instrument is all about, since Malmsteen has no understanding whatsoever about it.

  • @impronen yngwie is a musical genius and to say he has know knowledge of the instrument is absurd. While most musicians are influenced by well known bands, Malmsteen is influenced by paganini, watch his orchestral performances.

  • hilarious .

  • I wonder who he is racing.

  • @zeppelin1996 paul gilbert lol he wants to be good as him

  • @77guitardude lol

  • yea that last note spoiled the whole tune for me lol

  • The shredding feels so out of place...

  • this song is not meant to have too much shredding

  • don´t be a ignorant, is the yngwie´s style

  • It's nice that Yngwie pays tribute to a real guitar master.

  • Wow.. for Jimi being his idol and all, I can't hear an ounce of the feeling that Jimi had in malmsteens version here.. That's the one thing Yngwie's missing. The feeling. Well, some phrasing too. I swear, theres no slow moment in this playing, I lost interest in it fast. He might have crazy skills at guitar, but he doesnt have the 2 morst important aspects of guitar playing, and therefore is far from being as good as any of the real greats

  • @hvrock13 If you cannot hear the feeling and phrasing in this - or any of YJM - then you are not listening. I am NOT a YJM fan at all but I can hear his feel and touch in his work.

You are obviously hung up on speed and believe that slow IS feeling and emotion when that is just as fallacious and IGNORANT as saying fast playing lacks feeling and emotion.

  • @hvrock13 And no offence, seriously no offence, but having listened to your own playing, you're in no shape to comment on anyone's playing - least of all one of the all time greats.

You're not even good enough to be a live pro, you lack the ability (and the ears) to pass valid comment. You aren't even of a high enough level to be able to hear what is pro level (let alone world class) and are no better than the American Idol auditionees who think they can sing when they can't.

  • @nemesisrogue I think you completely overlooked the point of my comment.. I said, quite simply, that he doesn't seem to play with the same feeling that Jimi and many other legendary musicians that influenced him did. Nowhere did I say that speed can't have feeling. Take a look at SRV or Angus Young.. I said that all he does is play fast, I rarely hear anything slow or climaxing in his playing. He doesnt really build up to anything, he just goes all out the whole time..

  • @nemesisrogue Sure, playing fast is great, it shows skill and dedication to your instrument. Speed 100% of the time is great for showing off (what he's best at..), but it gets old, and it all starts to sound the same. Harmonic minor, haven't heard that before in any of his songs.. Also, your "non offensive" statement was completely unnecessary, and really, I can't take you seriously at all after reading it. You feel I don't deserve an opinion because I'm not completely amazing at guitar myself?

  • @nemesisrogue Sorry sir, but that is utter bullshit. I can say the same for you, I listened to your playing on your channel. I wasn't particularly a fan. I could just as easily say "you don't have any right to comment on anyones playing, because I heard some notes that didn't sound very good.." But you know what? I'm not going to be a dick. I still think you're an alright guitarist, but certainly not a "pro" as you describe yourself as.. Then again, you're kind of in your own little world.

  • @hvrock13 Vibrato, technique, improv, melody, feel - all there. I've been teaching for 20 years, been a session guy for 15 and stood in for Joe Holmes in Newcastle when Ozzy played.

That you think I am "alright" but not "pro" is laughable and proves everything I said about not being good enough to understand. And it's not about speed. I can hear a guy play three notes and tell if he is world class - like the judges on American Idol - whilst others can't tell them from the mediocre. So finally..

  • @hvrock13 Say what you want, no one likes being told they are lacking - least of all guitarists. But I'm not the one compensating or....plain wrong. It makes no difference what some boy, on YT, who's lack of prowess (and I mean that nicely) is evident.

I'm the one that - as you heard - can improv and rip Mr Crowley whilst suffering severe RSI. I'm the one who can hear 2 perfect renditions of a song and STILL be able to spot the amateur. And I don't incorrectly slate pros Which.....

  • @hvrock13 is exactly what you did. Your ignorant comment about speed and the harmonic minor just illustrates the point I am making - only you are too blind to see. Maybe, if you get better, you will develop and see how wrong you are. But maybe not. I seriously hope you can.

Same goes for your black and white perspective on speed and feel. Soul is innate - regardless of the solo. EVH - slow or fast has it. if Gilmour could rip, he;d still have it. Gary Moore has it (fast and slow) and...a hint:

  • @hvrock13 Dann Huff. Check him out. He can rip with the best of them but everything he plays is tinged with sheer class and emotion. You may not like his style but it cannot be denied his class and quality.

You say YJM, his speed and harmonic minor gets old fast. Bet you don't say the same about Angus Young, Clapton and Page with their slow, mono tempo, blues meanderings do you?

As said, I am not a YJM fan but I would never say what you did as it's plainly false. And that's the difference.

  • @hvrock13 So last of all now, to sum up, you can be defensive if you want, you can lash out, or you can try and take true (and well meaning) advice - even if it stings a little right now - in order to re evaluate and get better.

If you don't, it makes no odds to me. But it could make a world of difference to you. And before you take the hump, when you look at what I said, I never said anything bad about you. I just pointed how spectacularly wrong you are and how you're not "ready". Bye.

  • @nemesisrogue By your own little world, I mean you think you can determine who deserves an opinion, what makes someone a "pro" musician, etc. And I find it highly amusing that you think that because I'm not this "pro" musician, that I can't tell what music is good or bad. Lemme tell ya, I don't think many CEO's of music labels are pro musicians either, but apparently they have an idea of what good music is. Jesus man, now that I think about it, you're as cocky as Malmsteen himself..

  • @hvrock13 Thx for your one million comments. I'll be as brief as poss.

    1) "no offence" really meant no offence. You take offence a that, your problem. And I didn't say you can't have an opinion, I said you can't have a valid opinion as you are yet good enough to know what is good and what isn't.

Look at Canon rock. You have 3 decent, pro level versions by true talent, whilst others fawn over the terrible FunTwo and Mattrach. These people cannot "hear" the flaws and the lack of quality. So..

  • @nemesisrogue You say "no offense" but then you go off saying some not so encouraging things. Usually people say no offense when they are saying something like "no offense, but I can't stand this particular type of music." or something along those lines. Not saying, "no offense, but you have no skills and can't be taken seriously because I personally think you aren't as good as me" as you so ignorantly stated. And my opinion isn't valid? According to who? You? That's laughable.

  • @nemesisrogue As far as I'm concerned, we live in America, and everyone has a valid opinion here. Saying otherwise makes you just plain stuck up. And man, you are cocky.. You are just bragging yourself up, trying to make yourself sound so great. Listen here dude, theres some "pro" guitarists out there that aren't so great, just look at those Jonas Brothers.. so even if you did fill in for Ozzy or whatever, doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. God, you're ridiculous..

  • @nemesisrogue You're ridiculous because a man your age should have grown up by now, and stopped demeaning other people. "I can hear what's good and what's not, because what I think is good music is right, and thats final." That's all I'm getting from your moronic counter arguments. I could care less about your opinions man, so don't try to force them upon me. I couldn't give less of a shit. But I'm not the one saying "nope, you're wrong, because I'm better." And when did I cut down your playing?

  • @nemesisrogue As I recall, you were the one cutting me down. I said I only heard a few bad notes in your stuff. And once again, you just showed how much of an idiot you are. I'm lacking in the correct areas, because I didn't like parts of what I heard? So you're calling me stupid basically, because I don't find your playing perfect? Wow.. And wow, I'm sick of reading your RSI pity story on all of your videos. Sorry for your unfortunate injury, that sucks. But please stop using it for pity. Also,

  • @nemesisrogue I'll have you know that honestly, I've been through worse shit. You had physical pain, sure that sucks. I've been through so much worse. But I don't ask for pity, thats just pathetic. In all, though, I never did anything to you to make you be so disrespectful to me. Maybe you didn't even consider it disrespectful, but then I'd have to say you really need a good look at yourself. You're pretty damn cocky. All I can say, is I'm proud that I wasn't the one insulting the other here..

  • @hvrock13 And again, you should a complete lack of understanding. Not once did I ask for pity and not once was I disrespectful. And not once did I insult. A number of times I have made that clear. That you see otherwise is up to you.

Similarly, not once did I big myself up. I told a few facts which countered your "claims" and whether you believe them is up to you (though they can be researched).

I've refrained from insults, offered help and advice and pointers. Take it as you wish.

  • @nemesisrogue Sent a message, reply there. This is too confusing in limited comments. Read that message and try to understand where I'm coming from.

  • @hvrock13 Read my messages from the bottom up. Then they make sense.

  • @nemesisrogue I'd rather just continue this in a message, the character limit is getting to restricting.

  • @hvrock13 similarly you. Or anyone else new or not good enough at a discipline. They see in B&W when others see in colour and only realise the difference when they get to the good enough level.

Now, you can try and denigrate my playing if you want but again - it shows your lacking in the correct areas. And as for MY playing, not only will you note that all but one were recorded when suffering from RSI, you would also note that my playing was "pro level" and...

  • this guy suck lol

    guitar god

  • Soul = I can't play as good as Yngwie.

  • awesome

  • yeah no chance in hell yngwie is better than the god himself jimi hendrix... no way

  • @BLACKS4BBB nahh... they only way to prove which guitar player is best is, legit guitar battle,

    EVH vs YM vs Hendrix.

but did i mention eddie was self taught?

  • @BLACKS4BBB Jimi's way over rated

  • @BLACKS4BBB

and why is that do u say?

  • is this from the genesis cd?

  • ask Yngwie who he think is the greatest guitarist! ;)

  • just listen to yngwie's song called "blue" and you'll see that he has "soul"

  • jimi is far better than yngwei, He has SOUL, yngwei just tears through guitar scales really fast and this was no wear near as good as jimi's version. This man plays fast classical, jazz scales. He CANNOT play the blues, in my opinion at least and Benwgay opps sorry, you just sound so gay. Jimi may play fucked up all the time but at least he could play, and for thoose who like voodo child, check out stevie ray vaughns version of voodchild, its just as good as jimi's and 100X better than this one

  • It should be illegal for him to "play" anymore hendrix until he finds a soul.

  • Oh please do us all a favour and shut the fuck up. Yngwie is one million times the player Hendrix was. And by "soul" do you mean play stoned and fucked on drugs all the time?

  • i'm so glad that the world does not agree with you on this... BenWGray, one day you might realise what music is actually about. music is an art form and jimi hendrix was an artist who invented a whole new style. there are parallels between hendrix and mozart! although mozart was a genius and hendrix was not, both were had a disctinct style and had totally new ideas. jimi hendrix changed guitar as an instrument more than anyone else. if what you mean by better is "can play faster"... shut up!

  • God damn. I aint tryin to side with no one cause i love both guys but shit that was a good call. hahaha

  • watch?v=ydejukuRxZM

Halfway through this video he plays a seriously ill rendition of Voodoo Child. Hear that and then you can talk about how much Yngwie sucks...

  • this would be like a metal version of voodoo child haha

  • This guy is a wanker. That was the 2nd worst version I have ever heard. Bobby Crispys' version has to be the worst.Thoes of you who dont know Bob Crispys version watch it, you're in for a real treat.

  • all this dude knows how to do is shred theres more to guitar playing then shreding... hes not that good i dont think.

  • this song is "Voodoo Chode" not "Voodoo Child"

  • fuck this shit

  • fuck dat was shite,id do it more justice meself!

  • ...cheese, anyone?

  • You have to be kidding me right?!?! You OBVIOUSLY have not heard any Hendrix that isn't "Voodoo Chile" and "Purple Haze" and so forth. Try listening the the FULL album of "Electric Ladyland" Try watching Hendrix playing Red House at Woodstock. Get over your ignorance of being an Yngwie fan who thinks no one is better than him. I'm not saying Hendrix is the best (My personal favorite) but in music no one is "better". Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Lets see Yngwie play jazz cords. HAHAHA

  • Yngwie suck!

  • YOU KNOW NOTHING

  • yngwie...you just killed it...

  • I hate when people try to out do hendrix.... It never works some times simple just works better

  • less feeling........... and that's coming from a guy who love Malmsteen.

  • what the hell is he singing?

    is this english?

the first verse is hilarious... in a bad way

  • what is he saying at the begining?

  • yngwie treats all his guitars like crap for one and two... no! Yngwie, no! this is not a song for him hes a shreader not a psyhcidelic guitarist... big difference if you havent noticed, HUGE difference

  • strumin and singings cake but this shits tough as nails to do

  • He knows how to play the guitar but he doesn't know how to play music. Sometimes less is more.

  • Yeah he's good, but he can be a little excessive at time can't he?

  • that's not true, he was trained in classical music before he started guitar...sometimes he has meaningless shred licks but u cant blame him for living up to his name...he "pretty much" brought that style into guitar anyway.

  • Please .. Yngwies a great player, but he should NEVER EVER try to play this song EVER again. I liked the intro to to it(not the shredding stuff at the beginning, but the actual intro to Voodoo Child) and the rest sucked.. Needs to stay in his own playground, and stick to what he plays best .. and Voodoo Childs not what he plays best. This makes me want to cut off my ears, honestly.

  • Could you play voodoo child any better?

  • yes

  • u guys dont understand, he can EASILY play voodoo child or any other song for that matter...but he fuses this song with his own style of shredding, maybe if someone covered it with a violin and used yngwie's same licks it would sound better?!

  • trash

  • Worlds best guitarists: Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani and Paul Gilbert :)

  • me caso con

    valeosbourne

  • focking fat boy!!!

  • WTF?? that's not malmteen playing voodoo child, that's some random images whit his version of voodoo child in the background faggot!!

  • Did you even think about reading the video description?

  • Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love YNGWIE MALMSTEEN

  • wommo chommo voodoo chile!

  • Hey I dont know why u are saying shit about Yngwie Malmsteen he is a fucking speed demon

  • thats exactly the problem.

  • y the fuck do u guys keep dissin yngwie malmsteen, cuz u cant play worth a shit i bet, yngwie pretty damn cool, he aint the greatest but hes pretty cool

  • Its not Voodoo Child, it's some arrogant ass fuckin up a good song.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • It doesn't sound like Voodoo Child, but I like it! :D

  • Terrible

  • Absolutely Perfect!!

  • Ownage... rly nice... :) MAlmsteen Pawns.. I like the Ta Ta Ta while shreding :)

  • calm down malmsteen its not race
