Well that all depends on who you chose as your starter really.

If you decided with Cyndaquil then johto was medium and kanto was hard.

If you decided with Totodile then johto was easy and kanto was medium.

If you decided with Chikorita then johto was hard and kanto was easy.

This is all derived by looking at the gym type matchups versus your starter matchups. Also presuming you do not have the effective type advantage over the gym besides your starter advantage.

I thought it was pretty heartwarming to see that Blue's Pidgeot is his highest-leveled Pokemon. You fought it as a Pidgey when you and Blue were first starting out. You fought it as a Pidgeotto during your travels. You fought Pidgeot when Blue became the Champion. Even when he became the gym leader of Viridian City, Blue still fights with Pidgeot, the first Pokemon he ever caught in the wild.

adding to soopahsawneck's comment: Green was also the name of "Green oak" in the Manga, while Blue was the female protagonist in 1st gen and Red being the male protagonist in 1st gen, tho Red stays a major protagonist through all the chapters.

The manga in Japan named him after the Green version in the original release. A revised Blue version was released later and that's what the rest of the world got along with a revised Red version. The the translated manga, he IS called Blue. To make it more confusing, there is another character named Blue in Japan and named Green when it was translated.

I love the Japanese and all, so don't think I'm being offensive, but WHY would anybody call him "Green" after the Japanese name? We all live in America, Canada, and the UK. We should ALL refer to him as Blue, or Gary, from the anime. Both names are correct. It's what Nintendo intended Americans to call him. Y'know, since we never got Green version?

People are still debating this? Gary (or w/e the fuck you want to reffer to him as) Is known as Green in Japan, since Red and Green were the original games. When the games came to the states they didnt ship green (since it and red were glitch tastic) so they translated Blue (a much better version of the two) and redid Red in blues format and shipped them to the states. Afterwards Green was changed to Blue, debating who's right and wrong is pointless since both names are technically right.
