Nous avons bonheur quand nous sommes content. Alors, pourquoi nous ne ecoutons pas Rick Astley? Il est un artiste magnifique!
At the time, back in the 80´s, he was underrated as a singer mainly becouse of the kind of music he sang. I never liked his first hits but allways appreciated his "clooner" type of voice. I think in this performance everything is in the right place. He sounds very well and the song really suits him. Thanks for posting
Rick is still a great singer regardless of what the critics say. Loved him in the eighties and love him now as an artist. He has always stayed true to his music and with what his voice can do. He sounds like a man and sings like one too. He's Dean Martin two times over and I love Dean Martin. He never tried to be a rockstar. One of the most underrated crooners of our era.

Sorry everyone, but this is amost my favourite song of all, and Rick is nowhere near doing it justice. This arrangement is terrible, so lightweight. I fully blame Waterman and his cronies for ruining Ricks chances of a decent career. His voice back in the day was stunning, but I didn't like the songs they gave him, more lightweight nonsense. He could have been a 'Great' singer with that voice, but the money grubbers bought and used him. Shame.
Have loved his music since a teen, I am now 35... His voice has aged wonderfully and his appearance is purely sensual... He was and is my generations "Michael Buble'"
I love the fact that you people that share your affection for Rick and his music, are willing to express it openly without worring about others..big..fan..from the start..
rick is brilliant...I like this version of the song but I would have love to have heard him sing this in the origional arrangement his voice would have been perfect with that arrangement but this is nice as well...
Don McLean sang this song originally and Rick brings an entirely different wholesomeness to it over 30+ years later so ty again AngelHeart741 for downloading a wonderful cover of this longtime classic hit!-Mikey5*Stars & faved!
this video was added on my bday thank you so much angel heart.... i really love rick astley at that time . i was very young then..but i love all hes songs... i think hes one of the most known artist in the 80s.... and hes voice is still nice and hes still looks better and better as he aged...one of the best...peace
Does anyone here know how to do math? If he was born in 1966, he would have been 39 when he performed this song. He will be 42 this year, I should know, I was born in 1966! Also, this dude looks great!!!!!
Lots of facials, exfoliations, daily moisturizers, no sun bathing, moderate or no alcohol, lots of vegetables and fruits, moderate meat, 8 hours sleep, etc.... can help improve your skin. Good genes is a plus.
Hmm.... really??? Because last time I checked... 1966 + 44 = 2010 <_< and ... we're not QUITE there... however. 2005 - 1966 (the year this performance took place - his birthyear) = 39 so.... <_< one to me... I guess.
He wouldn't be 44 anyway, because, either we would be in the year 2010, or he was actually born in 1964... (and neither of those are true... or at least.... I don't think it's 2010, yet.... or is it? <_<)
I think "Rick baby" is caught in an artisitic identity crisis. He has a capable voice, looks, and a good heart, but artisitically he seems like a sponge and imitates as opposed to originates. In this track you can hear him chopping the phrases a little, like it is cool. In another track he does "homage" to Nat Kind Cole. This trait may be why he seems to have lost traction after his intitial hit(s).
He has a few albums of remakes out, at least one of which is from that time. His only album of new material was: "Keep It Turned On" (from 2001) with a single called "Sleeping". It's available on-line, in the US. It didn't chart well in most countries, & not at all over here. The video is on You-Tube.
Vincent Van Gogh had syphilis, & cut off his ear, & then sent it to his prostitute. I never thought that Van Gogh was a "beautiful" person, but rather deranged. I guess this was penned by Don McLean, originally. Rick can make ANY song sound more impressive, though! He can even glamourize a deceased lunatic with no talent. No one even knows the names of the talented artists. Everyone just hears about Van Gogh because he was nuts!
Yeah, I see some folks didn't like my comment. I really never liked this song, even the original. So, a remake wouldn't interest me. I'm just a fan of Rick's, too. He's an underrated singer, & despite his critics, good-looking, as well. I don't happen to think Van Gogh was talented. I think there is a crisis with everyone wanting artists to be crazy, but in reality they are in the minority. The crazy painters & artists had lead poisoning or syphillis, rarely a genetic affliction.
Aye yi yi. Anybody else you want to dismiss? Fredrich Nietzsche? Edgar Alan Poe? SOOOooooo American to discover what the world recognizes. And your vacant country is going downnnnn hilll rapidly. Your currency has lost value, your banks are robbing you blind and the whole world is fatigued, since you also dismissed any demands of your politicans as well. BushCo and Hannity Love You. You're a Real American.
I see you want to make a political discussion out of Van Gogh. That's too far off track. It's not about America, dopehead. So, I'm not impressed with a guy who chopped off his ear & sent it to his prostitute, in between making paintings that looked like someone's dog had gone mad with finger paint. I do like Rick Astley though. He has it all over Van Gogh...better & thicker red hair, too.
look you ignorant noob why don;t you go find some of Vincent Van Gogh's pencil drawings or landscape. apparently you have eliminated "original thought" from your criteria of what makes an artist and of all thing you are lauding a singer doing a cover song and chopping it up and adding syrup, at that. However much you appreciate Rick GhAstley, this is hardly original art. and here is a little logic problem, why do think he is lauding the painter? Hmmmm thinking cap binary "on." Take care, NOOB.
I didn't say it was original. I know it's from Don McLean. I doubt that Rick has any opinion of Van Gogh. He just remakes soppy songs that old folks liked, nowadays. He's following in the footsteps of Rod Stewart. They just remake standards that old folks dance to in the retirement villages. The old ladies can listen to this while in the painting classes at Shady Manor rest home, in between dancing to remakes of Rod's "Fire & Rain".
You really don't have a sense of humour at all! I was only trying to get the point across that many singers are appealing to older audiences, by remaking songs that they consider to be "classic standards"...the vocal equivalent of elevator music. This type of music is indeed purchased (most of the time) by the 50-100 age group, making it quite profitable. That's the largest portion of society, in many nations! The loyal, young fans will also buy it, too. So, these singers are coming out ahead.
FYI I have a really intelligent cat. here is a music video of some very creative original artists. they invent their own art, which is a component of "art" as opposed to "popular entertainment." /watch?v=KXJQtdIXoKY
Gosh, I miss his voice. He is even better than before. The music fits him much better too. GREAT JOB, Rick. I am glad you decided to record a new album. I LOVE IT! I am looking forward for more to come soon, I hope.
